Who are we?

Who are we? Without feedback from others? Without a job that we have made business owners money for.

Who are we?

What do you think? Who are you?

Johnny

WHO am I?
I am what I eat, what I think, what I believe, what I do, and I am the average person with whom I spend most of my time with family and friends. wine
I'm Nobody LOL

*knowing where we were...
Merc....I agree. I think we as humans can frame ourselves in from a certain standpoint and operate from there. Like you said, from a frame of kindness. But, I am guessing as a human...we can stray from that frame of reference a bit...therefore making us temporarily somebody else.

dunno

Love...I think you have pointed out something important about how we go through life with those trials and tribulations. We get tested....and sometimes we even surprise ourselves with those results.

dunno

Pat...if that is a question directed toward me.....go for it. But, it looks like somebody might have already beat you to that. laugh

Hello Ysa,

WHO am I?
I am what I eat, what I think, what I believe, what I do, and I am the average person with whom I spend most of my time with family and friends

I agree with that.

But what happens when life forces you to eat something different, think something different, believe something different, do something different....... I think both of my friends last night were down that path of "different" due to life's circumstance. I guess I was too with the alcohol I consumed. laugh

The point is....I think most of us feel for certain we know who we are....but as Love pointed out, perhaps we have not hit certain trials and tribulations in life where that past perception of ourselves really doesn't matter any more. Making who we thought we were...somewhat an illusion.

dunno

I am one with plenty of unused potential.
Problem is, I'm starting to feel older.
So, why didn't I realize this before?

I have one responsibility left here where I live,
a close relative so to speak that need some final
rounds of help.
With that sorted I'll take a little move out into the world to find out where
and around who I wanna live. Is the plan.

Now, death is unavoidable.
Only one might be able to help us to the other side: Jesus.
So we should actually be working only for him.
That is the matter of the fact isn't it?
Let start by finding out what he wants us to do.
Johnny.....

I thought very carefully about writing this post because my response comes nowhere close to what other have said about who they are.

In a Creative Writing class in college the first paper we were asked to write was "Who Am I". We could only use one sheet of paper to write it....not type it....old fashioned writing. I had a lot to say about who I thought I was but I did use every line, within the borders on that sheet of paper.

I told the class that I am an illegitimate child born in 1942. That was and in some ways is still how I think of myself. It was a start in life of being a mistake. That reasoning has followed me all my life. I don't dwell on it, it's just reality that will never change. Up until recent years being born out of wedlock was a black mark on you, something to be ashamed of.

I wonder if the mistakes I made in my life are the result of knowing I was born a mistake. I was conscious when I made bad choices but I still wonder if they happened because I may have thought I am scarred.

Others have labeled me for things I have done but no one has ever said......Secret, you had a bad start in life. It's no wonder you think you are scarred.

That's Who I Am sigh

laugh Robert....that is somewhat my situation last night...minus the woman.laugh

Also, Forest Gump, hits upon a truth, when he says "stupid is as stupid does" but it is only a Partial Truth.

Firstly, an intelligent person is capable of doing both intelligent, And stupid things; whist an intrinsically stupid, and limited person can (by definition) do only 'stupid' things (compared to those with more 'ability')

It is a common mistake, to say: "that person is renowned, and known to be intelligent; so why are (they) now acting stupidity"? eg drinking chronically (for example).

This is confusing cause, and effect. Often that person is behaving in such a way (in order to 'drown their demons' (so to speak). Those demons are often from the damage, which has been inflicted upon them, in their childhood. Thus there is a confusion of cause and effect (in the less intelligent observer).
continued....

This is the essence of the mistake....i.e the observer notes: "That (allegedly) "intelligent" person is behaving (stupidly); a lot of the time therefore; they cannot be all that "intelligent" can they"?....this is mistake of confusing cause, and effect.

Furthermore, it marks the "observer" as the unintelligent one (despite their thinking that they themselves are intelligent).....
ps...

@ Johnny,

Sorry to hear about your sick friend. I'm not a callous person, (even though, I'm a raving Athiest).................
@ HC76

Good!...I'm glad at least someone can see it........................thumbs up
Hello Luke,

That is so true...feedback can be of the negative type...coming from people who like to hurt others, manipulate, and shame.

Life would be something without feedback....

wave
True.....Love,

The cause is the alcohol and not the level of intelligence of the person. The motivation, being the demons.

You bring up an interesting point, about drowning your demons with alcohol.

Everyone has an inner voice. One can perceive those voices as demons if they are constantly negative.

Do those voices play a roll in defining who we are?
Do those voices become influenced by feedback we receive?

...suppose one last question...

Is it important to understand those voices?

I would say yes to all of them.

wave
Happy,

My guess would be that bigger the income gap becomes among people, the more cold people become. There is not enough excess of resources in their possession to share. Most people themselves are just struggling to survive.....the poorer they get.

dunno

Love,

With where we have come from. That is a good question. If they are saying god came around 6000 years ago....there might be an issue with that according to some speculative science. There is some evidence showing that a cataclysmic event happen during the Younger Dryas period...about 12 to 13,000 years ago....basically wiping off what was on the earth with a huge flood. There is claimed to be evidence of intelligence on this earth before that period that current mainstream science is beginning to warm up to. So, if God came 6000 years ago, I have to wonder who made the intelligent beings before that 12 to 13,000 period.

dunno
Thank you Love..with my sick friend. He has been through a lot in life...a green baret in the Vietnam War. It took him many years to battle with those memories... he is one of the nicest men anyone could meet.
