Casting spells....real?

About a year ago a friend of mine introduced me to one of his friends. This gentleman approached me first by saying he was a Wiccan. I try not to be a judgemental person and have not heard a lot about Wicca so it really was no big deal. I asked him a little about what exactly that is. He went on to explain that it is scary....to even himself he explains, that he can see spirits and read people.

He then asks me if I would like a reading. Thinking that this should be interesting, I agreed. He grabs my hand and sorta rolls his eyes up. Then he precedes to rattle off about five things about me. He was spot on with his analysis. I ended up being rather surprised and thinking to myself, is there really anything to this stuff?

So recently, I decided to do a brief search on Wicca to find out more about this religion. First I heard was it is the fast growing religion in Europe (if I am recalling correctly). Next I hear it is a religion where people do what feels best for them...as long as it harms nobody. Then I heard that "magick" is involved....and most Wiccans are particular with spelling magick with a k. The lady I was listening to said that the magick was to be used for the good. She also said that there is not one particular Wicca religion and means different things to different people.

It is said that Wiccans are able to cast spells. When I was in college, a literature class of mine has us studying Voo Doo in the Caribbean. Also in Voo Doo, it is said that people can cast spells. That is two different religions that believe that spells can be cast.

Is casting spells real?

dunno

Good day to you Johny wave
I believe the mind is a very powerful tool which can be used as either a shield or a weapon ....
but to cast spells....no can do, I don't believe that a tall.
Johnny,
My short answer is I don't know.
I do know the mind is much more powerful than we are aware of, so whether that means that somebody can use that power in that way; or the recipient believes strongly enough in it that it does become real, then either is possible.
I agree with Dedovix. thumbs up smile

I don't know much about modern Wicca, but I did some reading about old Balkanian witchcraft, including, of course Vlach Magic. smile
Ded,

Very interesting. I have never heard of them and will do a little research.

Thanks.

Itch,

If casting spells is indeed real, there is something we are missing in the way the majority of us are living our lives.

Molly,

True. People can and do convince themselves of things. I can say, my new friend's reading of me was rather convincing. However, I have been told that I am an open book too. laugh

wave
Callis....well, that is two that believe it is real. Vlach is something new to me. It sounds like an interesting subject to satisfy a curious mind. grin

Thx String. I will check that out.

Johnny, I know of people who have gone to shamans for readings, and have been shocked at what they have been told.
I am open-minded about it, as I am about most things. Just because I haven't experienced it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I am in the same boat Molly. I am curious as to if anyone has any first hand experience with the casting of spells, or any extensive knowledge to support that it is in fact a real thing. I find it interesting that there are several religions out there that absolutely believe in it....and some of its members use it. From what I understand, a spell cannot be cast without some sort of ritual taking place. dunno
You can be sure of that , Moll. I've got an experience I'm sure you haven't been through. Now, come and be all tied up and helpless.

Hmm, I am making assumptions, I guess.
Johnny,
We have a native sport here called 'Gaelic football'
Well, there is one team which is one of the best in the country and should have won the final many a time.
However, many years ago an old woman cursed them, and they have reached the final most years since, but never won it.

Could that be because they are never good enough? So many years, with so many different teams - doubtful
Were they really cursed?
Or
Do they believe they were cursed, and somehow that affects their ability to win?
TR, don't worry
You get over that infatuation every time another woman posts comfort

grin
My transparency should be valued.
It's the great deceiver at work.devil
TR, I do value your transparency

Although I doubt you do it for my benefit cool
Very good questions Molly. dunno

BTW, Gaelic has been a word I have been hearing a lot about lately. Hmmmm. grin
String,

There is a friend of mine that states relatively the same thing. ....basically, going down a dark road.

I would never practice it myself....but, if it really does exists.
Johnny, Gaelic is related to the language/culture of Ireland and Scotland
johnny

evil exists in all forms. it depends if you want to believe in it or not.
Moll - I imagine your benefit to be a group of spinsters sitting around bemused by what it takes to land a good man. I'm happy to contribute in any way I can. Give to the poor, I always say.
Meh, I don't hang around with groups of women
Especially not to discuss how to land a man
They are easier to catch than mackerel
Thx for sharing Molly.

thumbs up String.
Johny, IF indeed.... snooty

Being totally honest, its a whole load of shoite.
Hi Johnny...interesting subject.wave

Like some have said here..the mind is very powerful!
Like a placebo effect can have.

When I first came to Spain I had never heard of so many people believing in the Evil Eye.
Some came to me to have it removed saying that "someone" had put the Evil Eye on them.
In other words...they were blaming someone else for their misfortune.

I had then 2 options how to sort them out...
1. To go along with their belief and clear or remove this "evil" thing....abracadabra. .gone! And they were cured.!!!
Now pay me 100 or 200 euros.
And Bob's your uncle.laugh

2. I told them it was a lot of BS and they had to take responsibility for their actions.
Now...since I was their last resort...they asked me to help.
It was a question of re-programming their mind...plus some other techniques.

Within a couple of sessions plus some homework healing took place for less than half the money.

As for Readings...another story..
I can do a reading for you without using cards...nor crystal ball. wink
Johnny
Can you share with me/ us. What He Said About You? Then maybe I can have a answer about this.conversing

Africa is full of it. Here they call it umtakati. The Sangomas (witch-doctors) claim that they can even make your dossier and any evidence disappear if you're awaiting trial. I can tell you that the way cases are thrown out of court because of lost dossiers and evidence, one can almost believe their claims.
Any energy that is directed with intent, either spoken or through ritual, has a rebound effect. Some would call this magik or magic depending on where you are from. Everything in this existence is made up of energy and when two energy forces meet, there is always a reaction, some small, some large. So if someone believes in their heart of hearts that the energy being directed at them will have profound effects, regardless of whether they know directly, that that energy has been put forward, then they will succumb in a greater way to that energy than someone without that belief would. I don't know if I would call it magic or magik but it is as good a word as any to explain the effects or projected energy from one person to another or thing.
That said, can spell casting be real, yes as it is just a ritual to forward a particular energy with greater force than just speaking it alone though that to can have effects on people. Is continuously telling someone that they are no good and useless and getting into their physic in a way that they start to believe you and get depressed and then start to live or associate themselves with your projection any different than casting a spell? I think not as it is still one person projecting towards another. In the same way a decent councilor can project positive vibes onto a person who needs uplifting so that they can life a happier and healthier life. That is also, for want of a better name, casting a spell. It is all about energy projection and the results of that projection that makes it all very real. There are a lot of names for it and spell casting is just one of them.
My thoughts anyway. :)
I like to read to people. Now I did have this dream last night that sort of came true today. All except the lobsters.
