Own Cooper Said

If I had my life to live over
I would love more
I would especially love others more
I would let this love express itself in a concern for my neighbors
My friends and all with whom I came in contact
I would try to let love permeate me
Overcome me, overwhelm me, and direct me
I would love the unlovely, the unwanted, the unknown, and the unloved
I would give more
I would learn early in life the joy of giving
The pleasure of sharing
And the happiness of helping
I would learn to give more than money
I would give some of life's treasured possessions such as time
Thoughts, and kind words
If I had my life to live over I would be much more unconventional
Because where society overlooks people I would socialize with them
Where custom acknowledges peers at best with whom to have fellowship
I would want some non peer friends
Where tradition stratifies people because of economics, education
Race, or religion
I would want to fellowship with friends in all strata
And I would choose to go where the crowd doesn't go
Where the road is not paved
Where the weather is bitter
Where friends are few
Where the need is great
And where God is most likely to be found

Ireland on my mind

Celtic women..
Pubs and rolling
Mountains plush green
The tension between time
And space is more than I
Can bare
She knows what I know
We know it together
If we sigh it is with the
Eternal breath of hope..
If ever the sea yields to
Her this body of passion
If my hands ever touch the
Cheek of her longing
My whispers shall heal her
Of paradise lost
And we shall make love beneath
The tree of life.

HAVE A GOOD DAY..(An old fashioned poem)

Hear but not listen to all people say,
Brave the darkness of the shadows in the day,
Then, you’ll be able to sort the blurred from the stark,
Find the light that’s hiding in the dark,
The needle in the hay.

Do the best you can,
To fairly regard your fellow man,
Look for good, when others say it isn’t there,
When they walk away, if, you resolve to stay and care,
Then, when all is set, and looks to fail,
The chances are you will prevail,
And the darkest of days will turn out fair.

Last Goodbye

Love can be a sinister thing
Like listening to church bells ring
While you are stoned
Why can't we just be ourselves
And be like no one else
Who has ever come and gone
Why try to fake a smile
Knowing all the while
That happiness isn't there
Is it not better to have loved and lost
Be it whatever the cost
Than to have false memories to share
See you left me on one wounded knee
Your words constantly severing
Every valve in my heart
Should've known we wouldn't last
Figured it out after my fourth bypass
That we're better being apart
So this is my last goodbye
No more tears left to cry
I've shed them all
At least I'll leave with my pride
And my head held high
No longer will I fall...
(For your lies)

forgiveness

love makes me cry
you can hate me
but how can I
I forgive you from my heart
lets have peace ,a new start
each one in his own way
we can meet one day
hello is a word to say
we can never forget
our awesome making love
12 times a day
or walking on the beach
kissing French kiss
to live in love as a dove
without stress

Down The Rabbit’s Hole

The hole was there on the edges
Where a field met against sedges
Behind an old rotted stump
A perfect escape in a jump

A pathway leading underground
A tunnel with other holes be found
Where daylight streams so hazy
And dreams become so crazy

Only the noise of heavy clopping
Slowly starting and stopping
Like the spokes on a wheel
Now spinning backwards feel

Heart making these rhythms
Blood pouring through a schism
Deep in the darkness waits
Until all the danger abates

Quietly darkness turns to sleep
Calmness will I find and keep
Until its safe to go back outside
When fear is not so amplified

Once again turns almost night
Cloaking black into moon light
I gaze out again from my view
Summer grass and sparkling dew

This is how I must survive
Keep my body and soul alive
It is a constant vigil that I keep
Stealth make not even a peep

For time is not measured in days
But days are measured many ways
And life is measured in time
Between life and death sublime

About this poem:
An 'Alice in Wonderland'-like imagery of a rabbit burrowed in to a small ridge as a metaphor for my emotional reticence coping with the Covid19 pandemic raging around me.

What does love look like?

How does one know
what love looks like?
what color are its eyes?
I see love everyday...

It looks like
the roses and chocolates
my love sent to me
through the mail today...

Its eyes are dark eyes,
two small pools,
the calm waters of sunset
when the moon smiles upon the sea...

What does it feel like?
it feels like her dark soft skin
after she rubs perfumed lotion
all over her spanish arms...

What is its hair like?
it is long black hair
spreading about in perfect segments
falling like the night rain...

What does it smell like?
it smells of sweet green apples,
so sweet one can almost taste
the lovely orchard of her body...

What is loves name?
it is one I utter again and again,
it means love and kindness
it is the name, Jocelyn...

The Greatness In You..

I've been watching you
from a distance..
You didn't know~

Didn't know how much
I amired you..
I see things in
You..
Great things~
All those things
you can do..
All those things
you know~
Perhaps, you've not know
yourself..
the way others have..
Perhaps.. you will come.. Into the light~
Show the world
who you are..
Bring your talents
to light~
Give us the chance to see
the glory
of You~
Give us your love
and understanding..
The way only you can..
Show us the way
of you~
You say..
No one would notice..
You say..
They will not
understand..
But..
We are willing to try~
Yes!.. The world awaits you..
You know what you can do~
Perhaps its never been done before..
That's why.. You must step up
to the plate, and show the world.. The Greatness in You..

Moonbow

Lightning flashed in the sky
Causing her to utter a frightened cry
Thunder followed with a roar
As the waves crashed upon the shore

It was night and very dark
She shook and her heart was beating hard
Feeling like a small child again
She could hear her heart over the wind

The storm began to wane
There was no more sound of rain
The clouds began to clear
Low on the horizon the moon appeared

But wait – there was a bright white arc in the sky
Looking up at the dark as a background with a sigh
She knew at once the arc was a white rainbow
Lighting up the sky with a bright white halo

Feeling blessed to have seen this rare gift
She went out and watched it from the cliff
Knowing she was no longer alone
For her Father’s love to her was shown
