USA Government shutdow....

Thanks, C. Yep, not likely to cave in most situations, unlike the affirmative action last guy. Yellow puddles under the DC swampsters, liberal biased media elites, and a few dictators. Our Brilliant President Trump. Perfect score on an MD administered Montreal 30 Q cognitive assessment. Ouch! A-V.

Our brilliant President's western Pennsyltucky rally....

Thanks, LJ. I'll check it out.

Cancer Seek...

Yep. Thanks. A-V.

RE: False alarm

LJ---I have family there, and via many visits, got to know the place, cultures and peoples. The level of education there makes Mississippi government schools look like Oxford or Harvard. Lots of these mistakes occur all the time in "I never know ---da kine---ya got beef Land", but usually are hidden from larger media outlets, presumably to protect the dummies. A-V.

Our great president takes things up a notch....

As ever, Micman has it straight. Personally, I think our great President should have staff vet much of what he impulsively wants to tweet. Not to stop him. But to educate him on attendant related issues. He's stubborn, but a quick learner---both not all bad traits. With such vetting, there's opportunity for him to learn geography, cultures, governments, economics, trade, and so on. But there are HUGE upsides to his brash style, not least of which is giving liberal Washington and world swampsters the green runs, and perhaps causing them to respond unwisely. Same with the left biased media. Sure it could all bring about wins for the left in upcoming elections, except for a few points. Topping the list are the bright economic and job pictures, regulation reforms, common sense updates in long broken immigration policy, posturing on trade for negotiation strength, and getting dictators and other crumbs to see that there's a new sheriff in town, so unlike fake red line milk toast plants like affirmative action BHO. As long as he can keep us out of war, these pluses will accrue, and he'll be a shoe in for four more prosperous, America first (or at least no Obama last) years. A-V.

RE: Can't believe I missed Kiss A Ginger Day

My sympathies. Personally, I never miss a Kiss a Bravo moment, let alone day. V-A.

RE: No Pot

A. Nice topic. Yes, most of the searchers on CS are as you describe, perhaps, and we should remember this is a free site. Sadly, some would even argue with the price. But two things. Some people as you describe do have potential for being good committed partners, if given the chance. And while I've been with rich and poor and agree with the adage that rich is better, sometimes folks at the higher end of birth and achievement, however measured, face huge personal challenges that only surface in time, and which can be hard to live with. V-A.

RE: Global Warming Is Probably A Farce

All, it's certainly important to keep an open mind about the possible deleterious effects of fossil fuels on the earth's climate. For me, there are several important things to keep in mind here. 1) The dendrite tree, geological and other records show ice and hot ages in the absence of fossil fuels. 2) Relatedly, she's a big girl, our star, and does hiccup now and again---even tiny amounts of solar energy output do affect earth climate and ambient temperatures. We have much to learn on this science. 3) We think much of the earth's heat also comes from nuclear decay in the core---also a source of possible variation on our climate. 4) Newton and Kepler eclipses and planetary trajectories look nice on paper---but there are a lot of variations here, some better known than others. Precession, wobble, etc. 5) Perhaps as important, the so called 97% "scientific" agreements on climate change should be viewed as to their sources. Much comes from academia, or research funded by foundations or government agencies, all of which are far from unbiased, as science, properly conducted, should be. Just spend a little time on any university campus, or talk to faculty or our kids who were in government schools and now colleges. It all contributes to what now approaches a religion, whereby folks who simply raise reasonable scientific doubts are ridiculed, or worse. The fake emails from British universities are just one example of this process, which we also see in attempts in the academy to stifle different viewpoints under the banner of "diversity and inclusion". Look to the never Trumpsters for similar deficits in open mindedness. BTW--- jobs, the markets, and now praise from S. Korea's leader for our President's help moving things forward on that peninsula, and lots more---all will never be acknowledged by most of these folks, all sadly on board in ersatz religion. But personally, of course, I'm all for a gradual phasing out of using fossil fuels for energy, and reserving these as starter substances for many chemical-industrial processes. As such, I try to be scie ntific and open minded.A-V.

RE: One mans rubbish is another man's treasure

Open adoption---not all bad. Bravo and all my pets were rescued thusly. Doesn't seem to be an issue for him. Woof. A-V.

RE: I Found The Perfect Partner For You

Yes, Cat---that's what the no lip is about. A-V.

RE: I Found The Perfect Partner For You

The perfect woman, Catman. My little lifesized plastic/rubber blow up doll. Several tight holes, and no lip. A-V.

"Love" at first sight....

As always, Catman is spot on, and speaks for many of us. But what will I ever do with all those cracked mirrors? A-V.

RE: Em là ai

Uckin' welve. Saigon memories. A-V.

RE: Soap box derby

Yes, PF. Education has been watered down, esp. in government schools. Some high school teachers seem illiterate. Lots of college freshmen require remedial writing work. Compare this with the beautifully expressive letters written home by civil war soldiers, some with little formal education. They even are trying to do away with teaching cursive writing. Take a course sometime at a college or university school of education and it all becomes much clearer. Worse, read a few of the department theses and dissertations. Rap lyrics and text informality don't help. Am I showing my snobbishness? A-V.

RE: The most honest Muslim ever

Thanks, LJ. Great post. Yes, Yousef is correct and honest. But I suspect most Muslims are, in their own way. As I see it, the problem is that their religion expects them to take it all too seriously, starting with the prostration for prayer, the prayers 5 times daily, and all the nonsense about infidels. Lots more of course. But much in their faith is good, if it seems to contradict some other parts. Charity is paramount, for example. And many times after conquering some people, the new Muslim ruler was fair and pretty tolerant. Back to one of the best countries yet. T shirts in the Azores and Lisbon. Minus 15 degrees here on the coast this AM! A-V.

RE: Marriage

Yes, GJ. And for men, the preferred place to wear the ring isn~t on a finger, but like bulls, through the nose. Merry Christmas all. V-A.

RE: "JUST THE USA?"

All-seeing pics of all those dems in distress doth bring a certain tingle up and down the leg. V-A.

RE: "JUST THE USA?"

Yes, Nam, there were fatal jumps for a while. The catwalks were underneath and enclosed. Those days construction sites were less well watched. On the FR side, once the road concrete was done, we used to ride the bikes down hill as fast as the then 3 speed "English Racers" would go. Lots of fun crazy antics back then. Some dangers for sure, but sad that kids and their glommed on couch hand computers don't experience such outside play. Tons of similar stories. V-A.

RE: "JUST THE USA?"

Nam. Grew up just up the road from the area you mention. As a boy when they built the bridge, we had fun walking across on the cat walks. That is, till we were found out and they put locks on access. Juvenile delinquents all. Small world. V-A..

RE: Trump

LL, no worries about the double. Alcohol/420 do have a way of doing that, as we clinicians know. Thanks for your comments; even if misinformed, they are written with feeling. Yes, but I hear little such from the thousands of your folks from the Maritimes who come here to shop at our evil big box stores. Azores are lovely and quite quaint---like our friends' land to the north. Lisbon later today. Eh? Oooooot there! A-V.

RE: Trump

All. Tax bill passing, jobs and stocks up, terrorism down, illegal immigrants leaving as former illegal jobs dry up, EU waking up, swamp slowly draining, White House press corps (not "corpse---as our affirmative action plant Pres. averred) acting polite, even the left biased news media working to better check "facts". Just watch when infrastructure FINALLY gets attention, the incentives to industry prompted by tax plan reduces debt and raises wages, immigration gets appropriately better controlled, and borders get tightened,---not to mention getting peace efforts in Palestine really moving by brilliant Jerusalem deal move. Trump/Pence in 2020. Stay tuned. A-V

RE: Trump

S, surely you mean the disapproval rating is the highest. What school you went? A-V.

RE: text

Stevie Nicks lyrics. A-V.

RE: Happy 1st Night Of Hanukkah, Y'all!

OK, Micman. Shalom and Salaam. A-V.

RE: A Blossoming Relationship

Kudos, Catman. So glad for you. Envy is the basis of much respect. Aa-VKH.

RE: my meditation

F. I have Bravo trained to start scratching the floor and growling when I say, " Hey Bravo, what about that VACUUM CLEANER?" Folks crack up. Aa-VKH.

RE: Christmas tree.

Life presents challenges---then we die. Aa-VKH.

RE: oh my goodness

Welcome back Free. I was paying close to $100 monthly for land line (only calls were trying to sell me junk), ISP (slow and sketchy) and cable (do I really need to comment on what a waste this is these days?). Got rid of all three. Antenna on roof with rotor gets plenty of TV. Simple Blackberry for calls. Here I am at McD's with their internet and coffee---don't eat the grub. Also use library's. Living more simply isn't rocket science. Aa-VKH.

RE: IS IT REAL OR IS IT MEMOREX

Hey, PDP. We are all flukes, of the Universe. We have no right to be here. And whether we know it or not, the Universe is laughing behind our backs. Sartre think. BTW, TDK was much better than Memorex. Mine will soon be 50, and almost never a drop out or mechanism glitch. Aa-VKH.

The history behind popular sayings....

Yes, Cat. Ain't language wonderful? Shakespeare is chock full of wonders. Aa-VKH.
