RE: Eyewitnesses to the Resurrection of Christ

Is Simon Greenleaf Still Relevant?

RE: Heart of Forgiveness

I remember a family member of mine who was constantly getting sick, and getting it bad. He carried a lot of anger at people in his heart. Once he started letting that go, he didn't get sick like he did before.

I think its been medically studied that some of these principles have a lot of health benefits, as well!

RE: WOW ! She IS beautiful !!

Jim has posted blogs like this in the past. laugh

RE: Has Anyone Seen

Is anyone friends with him outside of CS? Perhaps they could send a note to his private email just to see if he's alright?

RE: God does exist!

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." Psalm 14:1

(Content below excerpted from )

What is a Scoffer?

Scoffer - in English means - "one who mocks, ridicules, or scorns the belief of another." In Hebrew - "scoffer" or "mocker" can also mean "ambassador." So a scoffer is one who not only disagrees with an idea, but he also considers himself an ambassador for the opposing idea. He cannot rest until he has demonstrated the foolishness of any idea not his own.

A scoffer voices his disagreement, ridicules all who stand against him, and actively recruits others to join his side. They say, "There is no God", and make it their ambition to ridicule those who follow God.

What does the Bible say about scoffers?

The Bible says a lot about scoffers (Proverbs 19:29; 29:8; Acts 13:41). In Psalm 1:1 we read, "How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor sit in the seat of scoffers". The progression of unbelief begins with listening to ungodly counsel and ends with joining the scoffers.

There will always be scoffers. Jesus said, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you" (John 15:18–19).

A Christian should "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks . . . to give the reason for the hope that you have" (1 Peter 3:15). However, when we cease to be the influencers and start to become the influenced, it is time to "shake the dust off our feet" (Matthew 10:14; Mark 6:11; Luke 10:11).

We know that scoffing will only increase as we near the end (2 Timothy 3:1-5). Second Peter 3:3 says that "in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires" (Jude 1:18). We already see it happening with the blanket acceptance of evolutionary theory that excludes a Creator, the rapid expansion of false religions that deny the deity of Christ, and the continuing explosion of those who identify themselves as agnostics and atheists.

But there is coming a day when "at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord" (Philippians 2:10–11). On that day there will no longer be any scoffers.

RE: battlefield of the mind

Good answer Sharnah. Of course it is only a starting point because the struggle between good and evil starts back in the Old Testament.

RE: Mysticism

Very good points about the unity of mystical experience. thumbs up

RE: Catholic Dog

If you replaced Catholic priest with a pastor from another denomination, the result would be the same. And being Muldon is obviously Irish, he would be Catholic... laugh

RE: baby news 4 the big news

Beautiful name.

RE: love you with my heart and soul

People say they will love each other forever, or with all their heart and soul, all the time. A few years down the road and they've forgotten all about it. Happens to all of us, as others have said, men and women alike. Doesn't make all women a "beach" or all men a "bash". It makes us all human.

All we can do is learn what we can from the relationship, try to heal, and be open to the next person we come to love. I believe we love each person differently, share something different with each person. It hurts when its over, but that's the price of loving. Its always a risk.

Such experiences can grow you and help prepare you for the right relationship, if you let them, by not being bitter and letting the other go. As time passes you'll see why the relationship did not and could not work.

Wallops...bouquet Thank you for sharing.

Yep, its not the house thats haunted, its the person. lol. laugh

Wallops, you seem like an outstanding person. bouquet I wish we were neighbors. cheers

RE: RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE ON THE RISE, WHY?

ALL wars are not caused by religion. Many are. Some are motivated by greed or the need for power/control.

As long as man desires power and control, or bears hatred or intolerance towards any persons (sometimes caused by religion, but often just by prejudice, ignorance or fear), there will be wars. It really isn't fair to say that all wars are caused by religion (or religious intolerance), as if eradicating religion will eradicate most wars. It won't. Man is a warring creature. Just look in your own community.

Unfortunately, although evolution occurred in the material world, it hasn't in the heart/mind of many human beings. sad flower

RE: Mysticism

An interesting thing about mystics and mysticism is that they share a common path of illumination. Such commonality of experience gives it deep credibility. bouquet

Minerva, how did you become interested in this field? What convinced you of its authenticity?

RE: Happy People Have Faith

Bene, I hear you. sad flower It's truly sad that many of those who "witness" for the One said to be most loving, can betray, twist, and treat others so cruelly.

RE: Image

I still remember many eons ago, when I was at a store, and two girls were making comments about my shoes. (I didn't have much money at the time and so had to wear what was given me.) I can still hear the derision in their voices. I remember being shocked that it even mattered to them, much less bringing attention to it to make the person feel bad.

I remember reading a news story about a very young girl who killed herself because her classmates bullied her to distraction. I looked up her picture. She looked perfectly fine to me. It was a real tragedy, yet her antagonists went free.

We should live and let live, because we all are unique. Suppressing individuality fosters a herd mentality. You are right, doc.

RE: Grr!

We all want someone we can talk to...not that easy to find though. It sounds like this is happening to you...all one sided conversations? You can't change a narcissist...when you try, you get fed up.

Don't worry, you can still connect. Keep calling until the right one picks up the phone.

RE: Spirits

Spirits are beyond a doubt around us. Whether they be human spirits that have died, angelic, or demonic, there is no question of their presence. I too have experienced things where this is no other possible explanation, and believe you me, I tried to find one. wine

RE: Mysticism

Mysticism takes us beyond ourselves into another perception. Oftentimes meditation can be a door to moving outside of yourself and into the mystical, or Divine. teddybear

RE: Reasons to believe the Bible is the true Word

LJones, thank you so much for your insightful response. It did shed a lot of light on it. I admit I was upset myself by her postings and not by Serendipitys. I wonder, though, if she does not answer because she can't, why would she reply, read the Bible, which she supposedly has done and still does not know? How could she expect the person to find it there if she hasn't?

And, as you said, she does not admit to not knowing and can not substantiate that which she posted.

Thanks again. I will look into that book.

RE: Reasons to believe the Bible is the true Word

It just occurred to me that serendipity615 also writes blogs of this nature, but does not get the same type of vitriole and harrassment that Sharnah does. Why? confused I know that he tries his best to answers questions directed to him and is always a perfect delight with his kindly nature. But the subject of his blogs (God/Christianity) is not targeted to the degree Sharnah's are, unless I'm missing something.

RE: Gods personal letter to Cyrus

Good points Catfoot, but she isn't expected to know all the answers, as KittyJoy said. Just share what she does know...it would be a great burden for someone to have to have answer all questions, if beyond their knowledge, I agree!!!

However, Serendipty has often stepped in to help. And so far msot of the questions have not been that difficult for a Christian to answer; i.e. what gender is God, what is fear of God, etc.

No, she doesn't have to answer. But I do believe many questions are sincere and there is an opportunity there for her to help, as she seems to want to do by starting these blogs.

RE: Gods personal letter to Cyrus

These posts remind me of a song:

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me snowed in
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see. angel2

RE: Gods personal letter to Cyrus

It is when you give them the Word, and they reject it, they are blind and deaf. Not when they haven't received it. Jesus didn't tell people to read the Bible. He asked Christians to be witnesses and spread the Word.

I know some people on here ARE trying to destroy Sharnah's credibility. But I also feel some have honest questions. As KittyJoy said we are all learning and are on different parts of the journey.

RE: Forgiveness is a gift to youself!

Unforgiveness can lead to bitterness and hate, even revenge, all unpleasant fruits. Letting go means freeing yourself to love. Good blog! bouquet
