$200 for a tee shirt is completely ridiculous. It's how the shirt fits that counts. I think people pay these prices just for the status. If the Jimmy Choo shoe is worth $500 because you absolutely love it and you feel like Cinderella, buy it if the purse strings afford. Otherwise you are paying for a name and nothing else.
I think your Grandma must have been a lot of fun!
(I wouldn't know a Neiman Marcus Tee Shirt from a Hanes.)
I don't believe there is only one soulmate. As you, I held this idea more when younger, but I was influenced by popular romantic thought at the time. I believe we meet people that we resonate more than with others, and that you can deeply love more than one person in life. Whether that turns into a marriage or long term relationship is influenced by many other factors.
When people say "Only you are for me" they are seriously limiting themselves to despair if they "lose" that one love. It would be interesting to see how many people married and subsequently divorced someone they believed was their soulmate. Perhaps they thought they were soulmates at one time and lster realized they were mistaken.
omg, this is too funny!!! The imagery you drew of that poor old lady in the Hoveround, lost in contemplation, then diving for oblivion!!! (or to her surprise finding another consciousness instead ). I love it.
It's an interesting question you pose. I have always thought dying in your sleep was best, because it seemed a natural, painless, quiet way to pass gently from this world into what is beyond. But who really knows? Just because we are not conscious does that mean we did not experience anything? Who has asked people who died in their sleep what it was like?
A relative of mine supposedly died of cardiac arrest in his sleep. The odd thing was is that his bed covers were unrumpled, like he did not try to move or call out for help, and not a sound was heard except for an unitelligible noise his wife went to investigate, to find him there.
I always thought being blown up would be excruciatingly painful!!!
Drea, "out of the mouths of babes" - comes some real pearls! (Of course, you must get past the screaming and other unworldly noises that disturb your eardrums)
There is definite beauty in the physical, and since that is what most people base attraction on, there you have the emphasis. Wouldn't it be funny if people spent as much money on cosmetics and plastic surgery for inner beauty as they do for outer beauty! People spend hours on physical fitness and grooming, but on their heart and soul...how much time? Inner beauty often gets second notice.
What is the result of these skewed values? Metro men and diva women. If you know a girl is a diva (or a man paints on his abs), don't date them. Just make yourself the best person you can be and be open to meeting someone wonderful that you have chemistry with. If you are in love with their heart, soul, and mind, along with physical attraction, they will always be the most beautiful person in the world to you.
Avoid all inclusive blame. You don't know that ecery woman over there is a liar, so why say so? People are individuals...one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch. Sounds like you've had some bad experiences...but a sure way to alienate someone you first meet is to to prejudge them.
Well, I guess you and your best friend didn"t break up, because you're still alive.
I used to keep mememtos like that...they bring you back to the past and people you cared about. I still have a few of them... some of them unavoidably got lost in living. My older sister kept them, too. I still remember how when she was in the airforce and I wrote her letters, she kept them. Years later we laughed at the silly faces I drew on them, as well as poetry.
Thor was the God of Thunder in Germanic and Norse mythology, and in Greek mythology Zeus was God of Sky and Thunder, often characterized with lightning bolts. :)
I agree with Drea that you really made the storms come alive in the readers mind. There is something very symbolic with the way you write. I have noticed a touch of it in your other blogs as well. You might want to sharpen this technique because you take to it naturally. Check out symbolism in writing or symbolism in literature.
I agree with many of Musicman's comments. Beautiful voice, Yan! Kind of haunting in that song, "How Are You". So sad and sweet...I would buy it, too, with the enunciation, some lyric honing, and other issues ironed out! :) I think we all have someone we could sing this song about.
Well, Drea, my suggestion is to talk to the person you are having the trust issue with. Their response will tell you a lot. Don't hang them before a fair jury trial...what you would give for yourself. As a person who is often misjudged by others I can tell you it is very sad. Tell your friend your issue and see what happens.
I have sometimes wondered about giving feedback here, on the blogs...even when the people have asked for it. It seems a lot of the time it doesn't make a difference to them, they do what they are going to do anyway, lol.
geez. I have my IM turned off so they don't bother me. True, there is a long list of those who TRIED to IM (in the IM Chat Requests), but why would that concern you?
As to why do they IM you when you ask them not to, some people don't pay attention to what's in a profile 'cuz they barely read it. It's a fact of life. I tell them why my IM is turned off and take it from there with email if I want to talk to them.
RE: my new handbag design
