Preparing For The Move.
This is just a quick hello to all my friends. I am so very busy sorting, packing, selling and giving away - I have lots of less fortunate family. I have a bit of a cold and decided to take it calmer today hence the time to do this.
The hardest part is deciding what to keep and what to get rid of. I have hired a storage container and will only keep enough to fill a two bedroom apartment with no out buildings to keep junk and tools. Somehow I have grown very much attached to all my junk.
I will be living at my sister’s place for a few months until I have made up my mind about my future. I will be staying in a small (already furnished) one roomed apartment with a small kitchenette, bathroom and toilet but will have my meals with them in the main house. Regrettably, as they already have animals, I can only keep my parrot.
I have accepted that selling the house is the right thing but it saddens me when I look at my dogs. It seems as if they can sense that we will be parting soon. They are always close to me, as if trying to change my mind.
Luckily my one friend, who lives on a farm about 100 km from here, has agreed to take the cat and both dogs. At least it pleases me to know that they will remain together and will be cared for properly.

When my ex and I broke up, what you are describing is pretty much what I did. I sold off everything except what would fit in my car. I even had 5 cats. Thankfully, she (ex) said that she would take them. It was a very difficult situation for me, but it was a peace of mind knowing they would be safe and loved....sounds like the same with your situation. The way I looked at this move, it was just a new chapter in my life. Hopefully, you can make the best out of your new-found chapter. :)

You will not know what peach of mind I have with the animals finding a good home. I was one of my greatest concerns when I took the decision to sell.
I hope you live outside your municipal area. It is illegal to discharge a firearm within the municipal boundaries. You can lose your license for that.
Hmmm, this was not an overnight decision. A lot of thought went into it and I'm leaving some options open by going to live at my sister's place for the time being.
Although Dutch is the language closest to my mother's tongue it is most unlikely that I will end up there. Animals or no animals.
It would not be fair on the animals, esp the dogs, to visit them. The break has to be clean until they have adopted their new master and forgotten about me.
Yes I am a very organized person but everything is far from under control. I have plenty to do for the next two weeks or so. I fear ther will not be much time for blogging.
My poor health at the present time was a big consideration in selling up and the main reason why I opted to live at my sister's place until such time I can regain my health, which may take most of this year if not all.

Bte I'm not on the Mars project. I have Jupiter in my sights for this adventure.
It is good to get rid of extra stuff you will no longer need...I just did some spring cleaning...got rid of stuff and aired out my place!!...It is sad you cannot take all of your pets but I am glad that your friend will look after your dogs and cat.

Yes, I'm considering it but I will have to go there first to see If I am going to like it. It will not be this year in any event. Some loose ends to attend to this side.
I can imagine you in a warm place with a pina colada in hand...parrot on your shoulder...and your girl friend of course with you enjoying the day...a nice vision...
If only that was the only considerations. So many questions and so few answers. But in time it will all come clear.

Yes, it is not easy but not the end of the world. There are so many other things to look forward to.
Why would they hold your passport back. One would think they'd be too glad to see us leaving.
but, I did hear a few nights ago Z... saying, they need the AU to come help, cause of rebels attacking the country.
That got me a bit squeezy, cause I didnt know of any rebels wanting to attack the country.
Also, 8000 special unit troops from zimababwe being deployed at Saldanha and bloemfontein now for so called recreation purposes.

I have in no ways made up my mind and if I emigrate it will not be to run away but to retire somewhere. I do not have heart problems so a heart attack is a fairly small risk. Fiscal Control and exchange rates are the big problems here.
is it regulations on taking money out the country perhaps.
Lucky you, hope hyperinflation doesnt effect your retirement.
