echo locate

Blind too the world
The high pitched sound
Echo locate
These creature of the night
Flying solo they locate their prey
Big ears they have

For they cannot see
Batmen they are not
Hanging from the tree
In darkness attracts

The sollitude
They hide shy creatures of the night
The perfect world to hang as a bat

Cutting Flowers

Beautiful, there,
to take indoors

as one treads the floor

A pleasure for now
yet
upon their stem
they grow as the perfect gem

gather not one
yet lay me here

let me feel such light
with colours around

smelling
seeing all
the beauty

no crouching blight

The warmth of season

cocoon me
mine is

my only reason

feeling air
feeling warmth
smelling sweetness

of here I do
Caress

Endlessly

Pillows of white drift by
Endlessly
As far as the eye can see
Slowly turning into a blanket
As if woven together
Strand by strand
Creating an ocean of cloud
Rolling
As if waves
But smooth
Like big ocean seas
On a windless day
Rising and falling
Rolling and rolling
And as we descend
Through the thick blanket
I realise I have never witnessed
Such an amazing site
And possibly never will
For a clouds shape
Is always unique
And forever changes
With the hands of time
And the forces of nature.........

A winter Collection of haiku's

icicles dangling
glittering silver droplets
slowly they will melt

slush everywhere slush
left behind by melting snow
land now watery

ice glistening bright
vast expanse over the lake
now here until spring

arctic snow flurries
sweep across the barren lands
settling in drifts

snow falling softly
clothing all the world in white
drifting aimlessly

Beauty In Imperfection

The rugged bark of an old tree
with imperfection due to its cracks
is a wondrous thing of beauty
and it's the imperfection that attracts

We know that a star-shaped flower
does not make a perfect star
Yet it has a certain loveliness
that induces a sense of wonder

A hand-crafted ceramic bowl
because of its asymmetry
is a wonderful artefact
that is valued very highly

An old-time cobblestone street
has a unique charm and quaintness
due to its imprecise pattern
that gives it it's loveliness

Perfection is not easy to attain
and even more difficult to sustain
Beauty lies in imperfection
and they are a natural combination

Hanging on the Edge

Falling shale I climb
Skip across its surface
Like a stone skipped
Across the water
Time becomes my purpose
Such will free me
From my ancient past
Smooth my sharpened edges
I cling to life at last
Like a tree to the ledges
Above the mighty roll
Of a sea full of strife
And all that life alleges
What was lost or stole

More Snow

Snowflakes are falling
each of unique design
some going straight down
but most floating sideways
on the gentle breeze
under cloudy-gray skies
hoping to defy gravity
for as long as possible
and enjoy the journey
back to the earth
from which new life
will eventually arise.

***

The rate of snowfall quickly increases
heavier, now, most fall straight down
‘til a breeze circles, again, from left to right
and nature transforms, momentarily.
Flakes change size and pattern of flight.

***

I sit, looking out the window; pen my
marvel at the accumulated whiteness.
As the speed of flakes’ descent accelerates,
my sun-yellow shovel waits, knowingly,
ready to dig out the day’s remainder.

About this poem:
"I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around
accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both."

The Little Fir Tree part two

The little fir grew all through the summer
enjoying the hot lazy days while it could
it saw many changes over the weeks and months
as autumn passed away the land cooled down

Then came the snows of winter, a blizzard or two
the snow lay heaped around the little firs roots
It will soon be time for the loggers to come
then all us four year old's will be Christmas trees

I wish I could be a Christmas tree like all of you
you will have to grow a lot more before they take you
the little tree sighed, it so badly wanted to be one
next day the loggers came and took the older trees

Once more the rows looked very bare and also bleak
the little tree hunkered down to wait for spring
then one day a little girl and her dad came
they walked down the rows looking at all the trees

That one she shouted dad, pointing at the little fir
it is rather small, would you not like a bigger one
no, no, said the little girl that one is perfect
I can reach to do most of the decorating of it's branches

Fantastic thought the little tree, I am a Christmas tree
they gently cut it down and carried it to their truck
when they got home they put some growth power on the base
and planted it in a great big pot that was a shiny red

The tree looked around the room in awe struck wonder
there were flashing lights around the snowy windows
cards strung over the fire mantle so very colourful
streamers hung from corner to corner looking so gay

Then they started to put baubles, tinsel and lights
and a lovely angel to go on the top it felt so good
at last the little fir would know what Christmas
was like, it watched all the fun as the presents

Were passed around and eagerly opened with sighs
and shouts of delight, the tree smiled at their joy
now finally they sat down and ate their dinner
with many toasts being passed, at last it was over

Then next day they took the little fir outside
and put it in a cold frame to protect it for the winter
oh wow it thought I will be a Christmas tree again next year
and so the little fir tree got it's dearest wish

~~ A bit of Nature ~~

Nature

Delicate gray light flicker’s beyond time
From side to side the drapes that hang so low
One more day has emerged
Intensifying to tweak the curtains back

The morning light to see as of a first thing is the sunshine cloud’s of different shades gray and hasty high in the wishy-washy blue skies looking out into the farmlands to see so many animals browsing in the grasslands and then off for the country route’s
Often just to feel the breeze as to smell nothing but grass, and the haze of the wind as trees sway with a careful gust of the wind and a few tweets of a bird trying to sing a simple melody

Creating a part of life is to see and hear the things of nature,
and hopefully this could help to appreciate the simple things in life
if nothing more than just to enjoy the nature of earth

Free Flight

On Kevlar lines, a whole life suspended
Buckled into harness now
Feeling almost comfortable
Gliders inflate... shooting up into the sky
Like a kite without ties
Catching thermal pockets riding high
Like a bird, soaring upwards
Above awesome coastal ridges
Spectacular sceneries down below
Peaceful and serene
Enjoyed only by a few!
