Bitterness of Poverty

Why do you cry?

That lady begging with her infant daughter; you dont know them?

So why cry for strangers?

Just people you pass by, it doesn't affect you, if they live or die?

I cry for her suffering, for I know the pain.
Although we are strangers, but circumstances and fate, experiences and life, make us play the game.

I understand the hardship of a mother, trying to raise a man.

Strangers they may be, yet they are family, under nationality.

A mother, An anuty, my sisters, or someones wife.

We wear the same skin, we speak the same tone; we are united together, we are Vietnamese.

So i shed these tears for the unlucky, crying for their pain; for the bitter taste of hunger and proverty, Vietnam, Australia; no matter where, it all taste the same.

About this poem:
I saw while sight seeing Ho Chi Minh City at night; when there's less traffic; an old lady on the side of the road with tears running down her face. In her arms a bundle faintly crying. I imagine if that was me and my mother and an uncontrollable sadness came over me. So I gave her $10, which means food for her and her baby for at least a day. The next night I saw I same lady at the same place and again I gave her $10. The third night I saw her again, still crying and so was the bundle, this time as I got closer I realized that the infant under her arm was actually a toy! I was fooled.

old man

Old and weathered
Distant in the eyes
Pulsating vain
A minute has gone by
Seperated by years
A breath that once was young
Drug across the boards
Old man's feet
Falling face first
Down he went
Few feet from memories
Of his past
Crawling on his arms
Just a few inches
From his grasp
Memories of his past
Whispers carried off in the wind
His eyes rolling back
Never waking again

Unspoken Feelings

The words that I seek are never spoken aloud
They lie within the folds of my heart and mind
None see the fury between the words I speak
Nor do they see the pain in my eyes
All that they see is another person
What is it that I see in myself
What I see and what others see is so different
The contrast is like night and day
It is like light and dark
I wish that I didn't know
What I know

Alone

Sometimes fast, Sometimes slow,
This is how the time goes
The days drag on
The nights slide by
But no one knows the tears I cry.

Through the day,
No time to feel or time to see ,
For I'm as busy as a bee,
At daily chores keeping the pain away.

Twilight comes creeping in
As if afraid,knowing
what it will bring
The ache, the pain,
Welling up again

Do you know.. how l feel

Have you ever wonder how I feel
what torment my will
Yes I know I'm a man
and I have to understand
your smile turned me on
your silence turned me off
I do not ask forgiveness for what I've done
although now I'm just alone
I guess, happiness, as a simple emotion
do not live it as an illusion
I know that happiness is contrary to reason
I do not ask forgiveness for what I've done
I carry with me the weight of bad decisions
of immaturity season
in which tomorrow
is made of simple dreams
You have filled my heart, my mind, my will
but you never asked for
how l feel

Stolen Lives

Written in memory of my brother who died from substance abuse/addiction}

All around me, I see the starving souls...
full of anguish and fear.
I see minds and bodies warped by "the stranger" ,
disguised and proffered as medicine.
Jackals on every corner...
licking the remnants of another promise from their hands...

So much pain I see in their faces...
so distant and removed from joy.
The life light is but a shadow of what once was,
the pyre burns, the flames licking each regret....
but never drying the tears.

The innocent lust for life...supplanted by the the pale mirror of a stolen conscience.
They walk the dark and lonely streets...
pretending that each day won't be their last.

Lives stolen...for a pence...and a dream.

Falling faster

It's hard to find your calling
When your down and out free falling
If I loose my way will I ever find
Relief that gives me peace of mind
Maybe I made a wrong turn somewhere along the way
It seems as if I'm lost and forever here to stay

Now I'm falling faster
Caught up in my own disaster
A slave to missery pain is my master
Fallin faster baby
Can you even save me
Fallin faster can't you see

It's hard to find a smile
When your stuck in hell more than a while
It's getting old going out of style
Been a long road but this is the last mile
I won't live my life in denial

I've been down and out for to long
Put my heart and soul into song
Will I ever find my way a place where I belong

There's no happily ever after only my disaster
There's no happily ever after I'm falling faster

This Blue Train

tasting the sweet rain tracing down my face...
unitelligible sounds and benign utterances break the silence...
i watch the blue fog slowly move in,
penetrating each and every glance of mine eye...

i watch the blue train slowly pass by ~
soon to chase away the distance between now and then....
acquiring rights of an assumed passenger ~
warming my feet within her cabin's frame,
passing in review before her porters and residents...I ask...

what will they see of me?

who will i let them see?

not me...

not now...

i want to ferry the passageways incognito....
empty and void is how i feel,
still warm to touch,
but too cold to feel...

like this blue train...

like this choking blue smoke...

like the blue cloak of the morning fog.

meloncholy is my mask and mood,

just now...

for this short ride to nowhere.

WHAT TO DO

WHAT TO DO WHEN THE ONE YOU LOVE SAY WE'RE THROUGH.
AS THE SHOCK SETS IN ON YOUR FACE.
YOUR BRAIN BEGANS TO RACE.
WONDERING WHY YOUR MATE IS DEALING YOU THIS FATE.
AS YOU PRAY TO HEAVEN THIS DAY.
YOU WATCH AS YOUR LOVE WALK AWAY.
YOU TRY TO FIGHT.
HOLDING BACK YOUR TEARS WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT.
YOU'RE TALKING A MILE A MINUTE.
THE DISTANCE BETWEEN YALL TWO IS MANY.
YOUR HEART IS SHATTERED.
YOUR LIFE TATTERED.
PICK UP YOUR HEART,
CAUSE TO THEM IT DIDNT MATTER.
TEARS ARE STREAMING DOWN YOUR FACE.
YOUR MATE IS LEAVING.
WHAT A F**KING DAY!
NO WORDS OF HOPE U HEAR THEM SAY.
AS YOUR CHEST IS HEAVING.
YOU BEGAN BEGGING &PLEADING.
IT FALLS TO DEATH EARS, YOU WONDERING WHO IS THIS DEMON.

Would you just stand there and let me be?

I mean no harm and yet been found,
Guilty of crimes when I am nice,
I Dont want to be nice anymore,
Putting up and getting trash.

Who am I trying to impress?
You,she,or him ,it is anybody guess!
When you are like me all alone,
I ask each of you ,who do You have?

Friends,lover or even a wife?
The air I breathe is getting cold...
Could have saved me if you had..
And now my conscious slipping by..

Heavy eyelids still wants to see,
If a miracle could happen yet..
A slumber too deep is waiting patiently,
Will you just stand there and let me be...?
