"Ancient Time"

I really never did see a time

when my feet
were placed upon your mind

They seem to rise
go on their journey

I tried to hold it
all at once

didnt work

just stumbled
with one knee to the ground

lifting trying to halt that
ache

expelling all fears

washing away the tears

Waking the caverns of my soul

then in silence
I waited to pay my toll

The wake you ask?

tis' the wake I look

at times
to only gather
and know

what was left behind?

tilling toils of the mind

What we reap

We also sow

To Sad

In my every thought, of you I’m aware
Trailing after me with your long dark hair
I call out to peace from the still of despair
The answer is silence, there is nobody there

Through the quiet and deep you possess the night
I Chant Mantras of Sanskrit in a plea to the light
To be held by love, tender and tight
For hope to be lit, gentle and bright

You whisper from dusk till the breath of the day
I beg you to leave but you always do stay
Your spectre dances as the shadows come play
You never rest so my fears can allay

You undid your suitcase upon my floor
You wear carpet slippers and have your own draw
With bony finger you point out each flaw
You empty my heart then come back for more

As I rub my eyes to dispel the dark
By soul blends obliquely into stark

The Pillar

A Pillar that stands all alone
After others have all come and gone

Continuously supporting, as is it's duty
Holding nothing back and giving completely

Out in plain sight, but totally unseen
No one hears its silent scream

The ache of loneliness never healed
The void of happiness never filled

The quiet urge to be worth more
But never having an open door

The constant burden weighing heavily
I am that pillar; that pillar is me

About this poem:
This is the first poem that I have posted on this site, and actually I've never showed this poem to anyone before.
I definitely do not consider myself a very good poet, and I do not write regularly. Just sometimes when I'm really emotional about something, I start to rhyme a little. As in this case, I was feeling pretty down; alone and just not seen, even though I try to be and do everything right.

THE END OF THE WORLD

THE END OF THE WORLD

The end of the world
As that day unfurled
A nightmarish error?
It couldn't happen, ever
A passenger plane strays
The North Tower ablaze
The plane sliced in
Indeed, it was grim
Then without warning
On this terrible morning
In from the right
A second plane's flight
Into the South Tower
With indescribable power
Terrorism at it's worst
May their leaders be cursed
A quick reaction
They spring into action
Seventy of New York's finest
They were the very best
Three hundred of the Bravest of the Brave
How many lives could they save?
They poured up each stairwell
Up into hell
The three hundred and seventy
Their valour extraordinary
Going to their death
Fighting with their last breath

The towers smouldered
The whole world bewildered
Debris started falling
No! They're bodies, how appalling
A couple jumped hand in hand
May all terrorists be damned
So much screaming
I must be dreaming
A third plane crashes into the Pentagon
More lives shattered, gone
Then the towers crashed down
Little life would be found
A dead chaplain carried out
Saved four lives, no doubt
I cried and I cried
So many have died
People wander dazed
Some of them crazed
They're covered in dust
Embedded like crust
Like “The Dawn of the Dead”
They wearily tread
Where were they going?
Most, not even knowing
We've never seen this before
Not even in War
The tragedy of tragedies
Let nothing else happen, please

A fourth plane hijack
Courage on board, did not lack
This time the passengers knew
What the terrorists would do
Three brave men made a stand
Their heroism, grand
One phoned his wife goodbye
And begged her not to cry
He gathered his two men
And wished they were ten
“Let's roll,” he said
He knew they were dead
What happened?” We'll never know
Let's just say, they had a go
The plane crashed into a field
The civilised world reeled
And as that day unfurled
Was it really the end of the world

Old Man

I again viewed him on the porch rocking slowly.
He seemed immobal and appeared oh so lonely.
The steel grey eyes looking starkly ahead.
If it weren't for the rocking you'd think he was dead.

He thought of his life past as being a mission.
He completed it methodically with minimum transition.
He worked studiously at school and attained a career.
He married his sweetheart and children he reared

Hobbies, work, church and travel he all had.
Work became volunteer and father became grandad.
He helped and mentored and taught and sacrificed.
The days flew buy in his wonderful proud paradise.

Stoically he rocked ceaselessly now left all alone.
His wife had passed on and the children had flown.
His clouded memory vaguely recalled his accomplishments
No one left nearby to appreciate the man and his talents.

I viewed him on the porch rocking slowly.
He seemed immobal and appeared oh so lonely.
The steel grey eyes looking starkly ahead.
I slowly sauntered over to engage conversation instead.

their existence. Take the time they
can be very interesting to talk to.

a truckers emptiness

driving a truck
late at night
on the road
most of the month
all alone
nobody to call
nobody to share
country road
car in a driveway
lights are on
driving by a house
with a mom and dad
daughter and son
eating dinner in
the evening sun
driving alone
grab a burger
eat alone
continue to drive
on this country road
driving by homes
filled with family
of love
driving by looking in
wondering where is
my home my family
of love

About this poem:
so many times driving by homes just thinking how these people really don't realize what they have a home and a family wife or husband to come home every night. just all the days of being on the road where truckers don't have any of that. some days it is sooo depressing not having this.

Little Lies

Shining brilliant colors flashing before my eyes.
The calm the peace the feeling of belonging.
Numbness like a blast of cold air against skin.
Longing like the howling of the mighty winds.
A vacancy that never can be occupied.
Little lies you would like to believe.
Hoping the pain can be relieved.
Remove the world from your hand.
Back in the box close the top
For a moments pleasure small price to pay.
Shiny diamond a memory of a wedding day.

About this poem:
Every now and then as I pass by my jewelry box I stop and remove my wedding rings from their velvety home and put them where they use to live. And for one moment I close the world off and remember how I use to feel. Then reality returns once more as the moment passes.

I AM HERE !!

I scream to the world
can anyone hear me.
Does anyone know
i am here and i exist?
I want to be needed
i want to be loved.
I want someone to care.
Yet i sit here all by
myself in thought
of what could be if
only someone could
let their guard
down and love me.
I feel that would
finally set my
feeling out and free.

State of Mind

my heart stops as I lost my way
my heart stops in the pouring rain
my eyes go blank
on an image that is burnt in air
my mind is frozen will not go into motion
raising my arm to scratch my face
I have a pulse but it's barely awake
I felt a drop
as I am sitting on the grass
big ol' spider crawling up my leg
my mind is frozen eyes are blank
for an image burnt in air
for sign of life
I move my hand
smash that damn spider
that's crawling on my leg
