Battle for Life

Fight with all your might
It is a battle tried and true
Don’t ever lose your sight
Victory, we must subdue

You feel your strength is waning
Remember you have our support
Each muscle and nerve is straining
You feel your body contort

They stick you with needles daily
Fill your veins with poison and drugs
You lay in bed so frailly
And all I can offer is hugs

Remission is what we long for
And daily we all wait to see
The spoils of battle are the words
To hear you are cancer free.

Just Because(Macduff's Challenge)

Just because i like to
write poetry and carry
a notebook all the time,
Does not mean that i am
weird and not date able.
Just because of this
does not mean i want to
be alone all the time.
Just because you do not
do this does not mean
it is wrong.
Just because i am different
does not mean i can not
be accepted by people.
Just because is not an
excuse for me it is an
encouragement for me to
do better the next time.

About this poem:
People are always staring at me when i write in my poetry book and talk about me behind my back. They think i am either slow or a nerd. Even my friend likes my poetry but gives me the evil eye when i bring out my book around her.

Alone

Eating at the table
All alone
The rain falls like daggers
On his home

The wind howls angerly
Through the creek in the door
A leak in the roof
Allows drips on his floor

An empty seat awaits company
A restless leg taps the ground
The fire prepares for sleep
He pours himself one more round

Pictures hanging lonely
Remind him of the past
Another day to face
It will not be the last

Nelson, a Man

Nelson a name on many lips these few days,
a name in the history books and on google for all to read.
a Man who lived two completely different lives in both halves of his, who made a name for himself and who everyone will remember.

But what does he mean to ME, I am not up to date with politics and am a true blond when it comes to so many things of interest in this world, for me I feel things for myself.
So, as a girl I did not know this name, as a teenager I had never heard of him, as a woman he suddenly became someone I saw in the limelight, and I thought, ok another man who has come to try make a differance in this world.

And now I sit back and to me, he has done what he said he would, he has helped unite a country, he has become loved by 99% of the world, his gentle way has endeared him to so many.
I am not into politics at all, I go with the flow, am a dreamer and believe in the good first always, trust very fast and fall often.

But I believe this Man came to us for a reason and I believe he has brought about a huge change that the world needed in a suprisingly gentle but firm way.

looking back on how I see Nelson Mandela, I see a humble but very strong Man who said he saw a vision of a rainbow nation and he made it real as much as he was able to.

To my daughter Bryn

I’ve loved you in your mother’s womb.
Now you lie in death’s tomb.
Even though you never had a first breath, your existence is forever held my heart.
You would have been my master piece to the world, an exquisite piece of art.

God denied you life.
What little memories I have will suffice.
While in your mother’s belly I’m grateful for every kick I felt.
I use to laugh at how the both of you use to eat bowls of ice before they melt.

We would have:
Dance between raindrops and hold victories against the Easter bunny in hop scotch.
Have conversations with the moon and challenge a kangaroo to a game of double Dutch.
Battle pirates on sinking ships and wait for shooting stars to make a wish.
Bottle candle flies on a midsummer’s night and go a finger race with a goldfish.

Be predator stalking its prey and sentry a trap of milk and cookies.
Fall asleep on the stake out waiting for “Santy Claus”, have him think we are rookies.
Express justification to failure “Damn that Santa, he’s so tricky!”
Form a resolution and have ambition that next year he won’t be so lucky.

Be architects at the beach, erect castles of sand.
Be masters of creating mess, paint with no brush just hands
Stage political protests till your mother give in to our demands.
Be bosses that we are, we don’t take orders we give commands.

I would have been the best father.
But god didn’t give me the chance to be the number 1 dad.
I hope you know your daddy loves and still waits for you.
I love you Bryn!

Touching your heart with love. . .

My lady of five senses,
You got me speaking nonsense,
Nights without you near me,
Is like a thunderstorm without falling rain,

Follow what is ordained,
Will be enough for me,
We have paths we must cross,
Many wrong turns to make it right.

People can hurt you
They can't kill you
They can mock you
They can't break you
I know i have touch your mind and soul
But i also know i have not touch your heart with love. . .

With The help of

Loneliness and me

Loneliness it haunt ever so forcefully . . So true your words burns inside of me
It comes right after I try to fall asleep
And still will not let me rest in peace

It hides and waits for me so patiently
Before the rise of another day to be
Happy without a worry and care free
Until at night it seek me out to cut a piece

Not a fairy tale with happy ending
Nor a midsummer night singing tree
Will this horror claim my sanity
Or lose this miserable life as my last wish

A part of me

Nervously,I sat on the beach
This is the first time we would meet
The little girl ran to the water
She looked like just like my daughter
Her eyes sparkled
Her lips formed a pout
Leaving me no doubt
It was she I’ve waited to meet
My heart skipped a beat
She quickly came running to me
She gave me a hug
My heart she tugged
She was like a little dove
She was the girl I had always loved
She held my hand
Our feet in the sand

Break-up

The words flew away
And silence invaded space
Between you and me.

House feels empty
What we shared burned out
Without fire
