As I stare into the mirror the more I look the less I see
What happened to the man that used to look out at me?
He was young and eager with the world at his feet
There was no such thing as "Impossible", just hurdles
Young and naive, these hurdles were quickly leapt over
Even disappointments in love were just small set backs
The heart mends and we move on to the next great love
And so we put on a different mask for a different life
We adjust to each other, reorganise our thoughts
Then marriage, this you think will last a lifetime, another mask
From lover to husband to father, another mask to wear
Ignorance is bliss, what would we do if we knew?
Knew of the pain to come, the shattered mask of despair
Who is this face that looks back out at me?
I no longer know who or what hides behind this mask
All I see is a blank staring face with dead eyes

Have to write something dark once in a while

The Viking gallery slipped quietly through the night
the oars just barely skimming the gentle swell
sails were fur-lowed tight to help hide it from sight
the warriors ready for the signal sounded by the bell
Silently they landed, ferocious was their appearance
wielding their great battle axes wearing winged helmets
they crept up on the sleeping village in timeless trance
plundering and pillaging killing some helpless pets
Taking captive the fairest of the maids enslaving burly men
to work the gallery's oars, filling the hold with stolen treasure
drinking wine from carved horns and spit roasting a tasty hen
soon well into their cups they ravished most maids keeping one pure
She of flaxen hair and hour glass figure and tender years was spared
a most fitting present for their king, the rest would be auctioned for profit
the coin added to the treasury. Now under full sail the waves they dared
knowing a welcome most raucous awaited they now their torches lit
Their king was most pleased with his gift and vowed they would be wed
a great feast was prepared and the mead flowed thick and sweetly
the Viking cheered as their king took the maid first as wife then to bed
weeping as she was ravished, he rode her like a bull until she bled badly
Back to the feast he downed some horns then lay down to sleep
the maid waited until all was silent and then into his heart she struck deep
she took back her shame as he lay dying knowing her own death she did reap
turning the dagger on herself her life no value she slipped into eternal sleep

Yes, be afraid but don't turn away,
Look see the monster you have made.
I am killer newly born,
I am beast in truer form.
None can break this heart of stone,
None shall wake, the night I own.
The deed is murder, steady hand!
And all will know the thing I am!

I dared to dream once,of the magic of stars and dancing shadows in the moon lit night. The infamous regale steed carrying the man of my dreams, only to awaken and all take flight. The joy of my miss spent youth is but a fading memory now. It leaves me with a hollow heart and dwindling spirit who wishes for death.Daydreams of hope over taken by disappointment as reality of my self made loneliness revels in my tears.Shut up in my four walled world safe from mankind's cruelty, let them derive pleasure else where as I barricade my heart.Ill keep what little joy that lingers and dream of the fictional should have, could have been's.

On a black sand beach,
In the back of my mind,
By the shadow of a tear,
In the blink of an eye,
On the outside edge of
the longest sigh,
Here is where I
send my fears,
A lake from my eyes
like I cried for years,
Just one time cant
something go right,
There's no light left
in an endless night,
The stars have all winked
out of sight,
Its so quiet
the silence is nice,
The water calm and
cold as ice,
I dive into the
frigid brink,
But in sorrow you
Dont float, you sink,
My heart a heavy weight,
Pulling me down,
Liquid fills lungs
with gurgling sounds,
Thoughts of you as I
slowly drown,
Im going to a
better place now...

I've always wanted
a perfect ending
now I've learned
things change
some poems don't rhyme
life is about not knowing...
I have a question
that burns in my heart
it is unsolved
I live the question...
Perhaps I want what I can't have
I don't want
what I know
want what I don't know...

In a state of high excitement
she prepared for the Gothic party
Dressed in jet black from head to toe
with nails and lips shining black
Arriving at the Gothic mansion
a shiver ran down her spine
evil gargoyles grinned at her
seeming ready to take flight
On entering the lights were black candles
casting gruesome shadows in every corner
standing near the edge of the dance floor
she felt intense eyes staring at her
A Byronic style of dress he was wearing
as he gave her a stately and elegant bow
catching up her hand he swirled her round
holding her so close his eyes devouring
They danced the night away together
both were smitten by the flame of love
as dawn struck the mansion bathing it
her lover vanished in a puff of smoke
Realizing her lover to be lost
until the dark of night returns
she decides to be one with him
to walk only in the dark of night
Gladly when he returns she accepts
his kiss knowing that she leaves
light far behind as she enters
into his world of perpetual darkness

Hidden in your lies
is the truth
From the deepest wound
Left an awful scar
I fought in hell
To save one's dignity,
I roared your name
Like steel
Cutting cold
Deep enough
To feel pain
Beautiful turns ugly,
the skin almost creeps
Falling a fine line
To cut at the razor's edge
The face cuts truth
In the deepest wound,
cold hard lies
Did I ever know you
The blackest heart
A complete stranger
Horrid ugly,
in what you done
no respect shown
Cold emotionless heart
Cutting to the bone,
to look crazy
Almost like possessed
Like shut down
Open the eyes
An obstacle between us,
like hitting an iceberg,
something is dreadfully wrong
Then you drew the sword
Shot me down
Buried without closure,
the bitter end
Coldest cut
Scarred deep within
the razor edge
Straight through the centre
Just like a knife,
in searing pain
The finest cut
The tongue
like a paper cut
Drawn with the pen
can cut deeper
than any wound
upon the sword

as the night
falls down dead
in colourless thoughts
polluting inner eye
drifting about lifeless
waters in storm swell
creeping out of shadows
strangling emotions
choking the life
in the host
deep frozen chilled
cutting to the bone
in odourless pain pleas
battle in the clouds
without mercy
gasping crushing blow
the taste of cold steel
sweetly cut deep
in swollen red eyes
i bled on you
drained tired look
tearing emotions
sick to the stomach
knotted up tight
barking mad
the heart in pain cries
silent lips move
quivering ache
on barren land
parched the feeling
walking through the eye
a zombie
in the graveyard of death
heartless soul lost
lifeless the eyes
a mirror light within
deep burning fire
warms the heartbeat
each beat
fractured and broken
in the dark
alone
to die
is love
buried

The ship was dead,
Yet sailed along,
All passengers and cargo gone,
It creaked and groaned,
"I'm soo alone" and
"Noones been here for soo long",
Forgotten,forlorn,with sails unfurled,
The ship hurled itself off the edge of the world...
