Monster(I am)

I am but a monster!
This the most difficult truth to ponder.
I need not fear the darkness or shadows from which I hide,
but that grotesque reflection in the mirror that is mine.
That wicked scoundrel, hater of all that is good!
The ugly beast that everyone but God forsook,
more prone to dark than light,
and to wrong than right,
Tis' me! Destroyer of all, the Devils' plaything,
and professional fool in the making.
I am what all others fear, both man and beast,
for what have I not corrupted, who has taken damage the least?
Whom will speak on my behalf? Whom will plead my case?
I know for me when life is passed, there will be NO grace.
No place in heaven way up yonder,
only hell below for this ol' monster!

I am gone

When I lost you,
I lost most of me,
Now I can't find who I used to be,
Though I'm searching desperately,
There was a guy with spark in his eye,
Joking, smiling, laughing at life,
There was a girl he loved so much,
He gave her his heart,
His soul,
His trust,
Because he thought,
He knew who she was,
It fell apart one awful day,
A good honest man went away,
Full of sorrow anger and pain,
He felt he could no longer stay,
Alone inside,
I feel so bare,
Because part of me is no longer there...

Seclusion

Eyes tightly shut
Hands cupping ears
Trying to escape the deafening shrill of a thousand hyenas

How long has it been like this?

Long enough for aching arms to finally let go
For the eyes to open
To the deathly sound, of silence....

I Dream of Angels but Live with Demons (Part 1)

Embedded image from another site

Welcome to the dark side
He whispered softly in my ear
An angel he appeared to be
But a demon in reality

Leave me alone, I cried
Your temptations I will resist
Oh no my dear, he whispered,
Not when I give you the kiss

He pulled me gently into his arms
His soft lips caressing mine
I felt faint at his touch
My soul wondering is this divine

I must fight, my mind protest
I am trying to, my soul can attest
But he is strong and I feel so weak
I am being pulled in
the darkness, my soul, it seeks

About this poem:
I heard this line on an episode of Law and Order:SVU and it stuck in my head. The episode was dealing with mental illness.
Actually this is my first time writing a poem on this subject. Please forgive any blunders as I mean no harm nor disrespect.

Happy Birthday To Me

Embedded image from another site

It's way past midnight
no birthday bells
just the arrival
of another day..

Maybe a fresh start
my woman
is mad at me
over something frivolous..

It was my wish
she would call today
I'm one year older
Happy Birthday to me!

Darkness

It is the night when shadows and darkness are with me,
But cover me and hide me now do it quickly,
For it is dawn and daylight fast approaches,
And I cannot be found out, no one must notice,
In this unforgiving light that cuts like a knife
Everything is up close, everything is exposed,
But no one wants to see the dark that is me,
Cuz darkness is reserved for monsters that creep,
Some think there is no restraint I am wild like a beast,
But I am not what they think, I am not what they teach,
Though it will not be revealed to them who I really am,
They don't give a damn nor do they understand,
So they will only hide in fear as they judge me,
I am by far too dark some remark that I am "ugly",
Well I welcome you darkness stay close, stay near,
Together we will always be what they fear!

Ghosts of my past

Embedded image from another site

The past is always
the past
I often forget it
but it remembers me
everything I failed to be
yesterday is history...

The past is a ghost
a hole, dust, the wind
it is dark and moves unseen
beneath, betwixt and between
angels, demons, elemental spirits
come to me when I am sleeping...

Ghosts from my past
makes my thoughts
heavy as branches
after a raging storm
leaving me tired and forlorn
people who came before me
appear in dreams

In a way
we are all ghosts...

The Dark Side of Man!

The Dark Side of Man

The Beast within, the Gargoyle of the mind

Beneath the rocks of darkness he arises among the seamy serpents that crawl upon the eroded crust of the darkened earth

Be forewarned brethren for he seekith thee on the seventh moon of the sun to hang thee on the cross of the forever living dead

He lives in the eternal land of the dammed where witches, ghosts and supernatural beings reside

Voiceless thou he be, he cometh when thou sleepiest lurking behind the closed doors of your eyelids and exalts fear into your feeble being

From the roots of his foul mouth he rants the profanity of the dammed

Extricate yourself before you are grasped by his tentacles and pulled down under into the land of the living dead

Blameless thou thy bee, you have aroused the curse of the damned

Beware before the world shall spin counter clockwise away from the sun and ye be put upon a fiery cross
to burn in perpetuity, expunge him from your very being!

Exorcise this evil spirit before it’s too late
Stop your lusting for woman‘s flesh, debauchery, drink & drugs

Drink not the wine from the harlot’s slipper, repent!

Beware he cometh!

The Ride

Who would have known that a simple drive could start such a chain of events.
A country road leading no where....time well spent.
Watching as the miles go by. Like years in a life.
I can honestly say its been a good ride.
Low on gas not sure if stopping is what I want to do.
I think I might be able to make it another mile or two.
Use to think I had a destination but now it hides.
To be honest I think I have always been here just for the ride.
Sometimes I might go a little bit to fast.
But then I see something and roll to a stop.
But it just doesn't seem to last.
Wheels will start to roll and sing with the highway.
Like a childhood melody I love to hear play.

Madness of Man's Mind

Flourecent light
darkens a room
standing alone
not a chair
to rest a soul
taking the madness
out of the mind
a grape
growing on a vine
born without
a shirt
covered under the leaves
watching the pilgrims march
standing alone
spinning of time
madness of man
who owns this land
shrinking grape
in the heat
madness of man
destroying the land
beneath his feet
the grape falls
on the leaves
