War

As I lay on the bottom of my bunk I gaze at the supports above me
Realizing that they are simply hallmarks of the true reality
The supports in use are nothing more than wire strands
I reach for them with outstretched hands

A simple touch and then a grasp is all that it takes
To understand the reality of all that awaits
The reality that each strand serves only to form a bar
Separating us from our loved ones afar

Move them as I might
brings about a horrific sight
small though they may be, they are intertwined
unmovable; haunting the hallows of my mind

I listen to what they may be saying
Nervous I gasp in hopes that they will respond to my praying
It soon dawns on me that nothing is what they hear
But they speak resoundingly to the loved ones I hold so dear

Without words they send a message that screams
“you at this time shall only see your loved ones in your dreams”
It is true that my family is seen in my slumber
a dream that is interrupted by cracks of thunder

In my dream I gaze through the gaps in the supports
visions of my family that the gap vexes and contorts
There they are sleeping quietly but with great effort I can see
my family passing time without the likes of me

There is no denying the fact that this is how it will remain
until my tasking is complete and I can get on with life again
I, once again, reach out at the supports above
And realize they cannot dissolve the bonds of love

A feeling of contentment erupts throughout my body
An emotion so powerful if appears ungodly
Positive feelings have once again arisen
I enter into a restful sleep inside the confines of my prison

A restful sleep I could only attain
Through mental exhaustion causing certain thoughts to wane
The thoughts that my family is locked in their own insanity
Insanity that proves to be a calamity

Behind unseen strands of wire
Wire that only serves to conspire
Conspiring to prey upon thoughts of loneliness and despair
Polluting every breath of air

For it is what I have chosen as my profession
That has led to their depression
Along with me they serve their sentence
And they look for my return as their repentance

The wire is a test to their resolve
But time will pass and the wire will dissolve
I will return stateside to places I have been
My family and I will be reunited again.

i am stronger

drowning in this pool of pain
sinking feelings still remain
heart and soul truly shattered
body and mind totally battered

the love inside has been drained
vulnerable emotions have been stained
were the soul lived is an empty space
the heart is gone without a trace

i only have but myself to blame
for trusting you have you no shame
for what you have done to my life
all you gave me was nothing but strife

i thought i found someone honest and true
you found me the fool yes you knew
i believed your promises but you mislead
my life was empty left but all for dead

now i am learning to swim once more
with friends and time i will make it for sure
the love and support they"ve given me
has shown me the light now i can see

i am stronger and growing day by day
a feeling of warmth like the beaming suns ray
now you can see that smile on my face
cos my heart and soul are in its right place

Depths of my soul

Take my hand
Let us walk the world together
Let everyone see
It's you and me
Within you lies the sun,the breeze
You are my inner peace.

Needing you always by my side
You are my whole life
Warmed by a fire within
Your love sets me free.
Loving you from the depth of my soul
My heart is now whole.

You were flying...

You were some blue bird,
You were flying
Between happyness and destiny.
You were thinking
To wind up with dew
To heaven…

You were white ghost,
You were flying
Over the sun!
You were touching
Something
In dense smoke…

You were screaming
With white thirst
For exhausted Earth.
You were dreaming
That some day
You will stop to be a soul.

circleof life

for every tree that sheds its leaves.
for every fire that burns its lot.
for every lightning bolt that ripes though the sky, a drop of rain will surelly pass us by.
only not in vain or in sorrow the darken skies shall weep, only to nurish a seed, a tree has sown beneth our very feet.

then once again the sun will shine and the birds will sing.
rejoicing the gift of life that every new day may bring.

To A Critic

To A Critic

When a critic read my writing
his retort was somewhat dry.
“Why thirty years of waiting
before you made your try?”

His comment made me wonder
can I really be too old?
Will history go asunder
if English I now unfold?

Is poetry not an ageless thing
like man himself, is he?
As a daffodil in the Spring
and the summer it can see?

Am I wrong to write my verse
though I do admit, I age.
Should I get a response so terse
I still can feel the rage?

I rest my case upon you now
and hope you feel the shame.
I leave you with a sacred vow,
someday you’ll know my name!

No explanation will I give
to critics of any kind.
All I ask is “Let me live
to write what’s in my mind!”

Heart

My Heart was given to your care
for you to love
for me to share my loyality and devotion to you alone
trust was given love was shown
The fragility of an open heart
searching and hoping never to part
from the heart they offer the most precious gift to
Wishing for in return that trust was shared
Is trust the hardest gift of all
Is lack of trust where love does fail and fall
