The Virus....what I heard

A friend of mine came back from his chiropractor and he informed my friend that this virus is interesting. My friend told me, he was not sure using the word mutate was correct...but he explained it this way to me. He said, according to his doctor, if he got the virus and gave it to me, I would have a different virus than him.

I have just heard tonight on tv....not only can you get the virus more than once, but the second time around it is more vicious than the first time. That would make sense if my friend was told correct by his chiropractor.

It sounds like this virus is like a moving target...if everything I had been told is correct.

It sounds like a vaccine is essential with this....otherwise, is there a way of stopping it without everyone being effected by it?

dunno

...sounds serious....and something to be treated as such...

be safe all

Hopefully I have heard wrong...and drew the wrong conclusions.

Thanks John this is interesting also. Best advice I can give you as My own Doctor. Only you can tell when you are sick. Sounds like the virus attacks are a mystery.wave
Thanks Mark.....

It seems too perfect for accomplishing it goals.

This was covered by an article I read a few days ago.
It does mutate (just like the flu) in the sense that the DNA code of the virus alters slightly as it naturally multiplies but they said the speed is not as fast as one person to the next. The article claimed it to be maybe every 7th generation. It also claimed these are not new strains but slight variations. New strains may and probably will evolve after all, Covid 19 is a new strain of SARS.

And yes, a small number of people are being infected a second time - it happened to Richard Wilkins, a TV personality here in Australia, but he recovered both times and is now fit and well.
Good to hear WL....possibly some hope after all. thumbs up

Johnny,

The guy that works at the gas station, his chiropractor's dentist's optometrist, told him that he was wearing a mask, but had to take it off, because he was getting sick and nauseas from smelling his own breath in the mask. He almost ended up in emergency, if it wasn't for someone giving him Junior Mints to freshen his breath. Siriusly! professor
The only thing I have heard from an MD, is that the genome of this virus is proofread to eliminate mutations. I've never heard of any virus that would automatically change from person to person without mutations. There's nothing written, that I can find, that mentions it.
If you can, I'd be happy to read it. Microbiology is not really a typical area of education for a chiropractor.

Actually, IF what he said is true, it would likely make a vaccine MUCH less effective, especially the ones which are made with one viral protein, which are almost all of the genetic engineered ones.
Do you have a link for that article ?
Just so no one is confused, it is an RNA virus, not DNA. A viral reverse transcriptase makes DNA within the (i.e. human) cell, which is then transcribed to make new copies of viral RNA. Those RNA copies are then packaged and used as the genomes of the new viruses.
As already said, flu mutates all the time or we would all be immune to it after one bout. I think this source though - saying you'll get Covid worse second time - is a bit of a wind-up, whether deliberate or panic-driven. Most people who get it will have antibodies to battle the next contact with it.
Robert...similar here too. laugh doh
Jim, I am of similar mind as you. I agree, a chiropractor does not have specific knowledge of viruses...well, one could assume. Maybe he heard something too...like Robert has alluded to.

wave
Thank you Jim for the information. I don't have any links myself.
Molly....uh oh moping wave
Jac....I am not sure of the procedure he had done at the chiropractor.

I do agree, he was not staying home.

Around here, we live in the country...where our closest neighbor is generally some distance away. Does that make us immune, not by any stretch.

But....we are being told we can go out as long as we maintain at least a 6 foot distance. Although, as time progresses, so do their recommendations to exercise total isolation.

Stay safe.

wave
Vivian, I agree...logic would say the second round should be less powerful. It was just mentioned by a doctor last night on CNN. Well, Trump calls them fake news...so who knows. laugh dunno

wave
MM....it has been recently reported over here that things could have been handled much better...especially by the opposing political party. This virus don't care of your political affiliation, at least not that I have heard of yet. dunno

Anyway...it is terrible worldwide. Stay safe there.

wave
Trump calls everything he doesn't agree with fake news. That means nothing.
He had a good first day by stopping flights to China (AlthoughI doubt that would gave happened if it were Russia). T
hen he put on his businessman hat and took his eye off the ball and stopped thinking of public health.
The problem in the states is that everything is made political, on both sides.
In times like this, both internal and external politics have to be put aside for the public good.
Good question String...something I have thought about for the last 20 years. wave
I totally agree Molly. thumbs up

wave
Jim, the same could be said of humans.
We don't live very symbiolically on this earth.
We destroy. We don't try to leave peacefully, we don't aid the planet and we are not a useful addition to it, beyond our own limitdd imagination.
Which is the worst virus in the long term, this or us?
Molly, I'm glad you caught my drift. However, some of us are more symbiotic than others.
Those that lean in the symbiotic direction are generally more successful long term and appreciated.
Alternatively, those who are predatory may have sufficient 'kills' to survive a while in feast or famine episodes, but usually end up getting mortally injured in the fight(s), or the tally of them, or die of clogged arteries, or the prey gets wiser, or depleted.
Molly - when I was teaching environmental science my pet phrase was - One can not walk across a pristine meadow without leaving footprints behind, but it would we nice we don't drop candy wrappers during our passage. Okay so it is bit cryptic.
It would be even nicer, if we didn't pollute the meadow with a pipe of chemical waste from the nearby chemical company or from fracting.
We are learning more and more of the virus everyday.

That is why the health experts upgrade their recommendations daily.

People who survived the virus need to share their experiences so we know what to look for.
Johnny I am bored with this virus. We are still under curfew. God have mercy and let this come to past.

But it is serious. I have stopped watching news.

You better not leave the house.scold

laugh
I heard from ny neighbour's uncle's friend's hairdresser, that if you cover your entire body in mayonnaise you're less likely to catch the virus.

teddybear
Or a date
Okay. Will you come over with the cabbage and carrots shredded. Will have a coleslaw.grin
Just trying to help the mayonnaise industry in these troubled times.
Mayonnaise uses up the eggs that you'll need to bake my escape cake.
Pat I'm surprised you are still single teddybear
I'm sure they are in the depths of angst.
I think so too.

barf
..agree Laf....thumbs up

Usha...good to hear that you are still with us here. You know me, I would not leave unless it is for essential purposes only. laugh
Life...thank you for sharing your story....and it is wonderful you are here to share it. thumbs up

wave

and to all others wave wave wave wave wave
Pat....so it sounds like mayo is the secret. laugh
For Robert....or whoever....real or fake (start watching at the 9:00 mark.

Somebody showed me this today.

Not covid related....maybe just some humor. dunno
Johnny,

that lady at the 9 minute mark scared the shill out of me!! wow
She's got snake eyes. Interesting video. Cool. thumbs up

Now, I wonder, if she's got snake eyes, does she also like to kiss with tongue?
Just asking. dunno
Johnny,

also, just read today, where the numbers of deaths and confirmed corona cases in New York have started to lower.

And also, somebody bought all the mayonnaise at the grocery stores around here. I don't know why? confused
Rob

Slathering yourself will not protect you but might make for a great Cuban sandwich...laugh
