Basic Human Needs

If a woman is married to an uncommunicative man, she has the choice of talking to herself, not very satisfactory, or else sharing with friends, or even strangers. That is considered acceptable to all. Right?

When a man is married to a nonsexual wife, he has the choice of doing it with himself, not very satisfactory, or else doing it with friends, or even strangers. That is considered acceptable to all. Right?

Wrong.
It's not acceptable to all, very few indeed.

The woman may not want to leave her marriage because she doesn't want to break up the family, especially if the kids are small, but at least she has an outlet for her frustrations.

The man may not leave his marriage because he doesn't want to break up the family, especially if the kids are small, but he is left with no outlet for his frustrations.

Sex is a form of communication, a basic human need, especially to men. Just as sharing a conversation is to women.

Does society place unfair restrictions on one human need over another?

Strange Emotion

I got a call from a buddy of mine who still had some friends of my ex on his FB. He told me to go check her page. Sounded serious a call at 2am. He wouldn't tell me what was up. Was she dead? Was she now with someone I knew?? Her Dad was not well I knew that. We broke up in May 2011. OMG I wonder what is wrong?!?!

So I stumbled over to the laptop and opened up. And there on her page uploaded yesterday was a video of a baby in it's crib. I recognised the wall of her old bedroom (she must be at her home place now with the parents) and her voice speaking very affectionately to it. The captions hinted that it was her baby but nothing definite... she said thanks to a compliment someone had left 'Beautiful just like her mother'. So.. all the signs point to her child.

What I can't figure out is why I can't sleep now. There is some emotion running through my head and a tense feeling in my stomach. I'm your typical male stereotype in some respects. I recognise Anger, Happiness, and Sadness. And that's about it... other emotions I don't understand much. laugh

So... has this happened to anyone before? I'm sure it has of course. But can you identify what I'm feeling? 'Cos I sure as hell can't. dunno

Is It In Our Genes?

Humans have honed the art of killing other humans into a fine art. Our modern military hardware is proof of that. Biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons are just some examples of the destructiveness of man. Whether we want to kill one person or wipe an entire city off the map, we will know exactly how to go about it.frustrated

This is not the case with most other mammals but there are a few exceptions. The most notable of these, is our closest living relative (according to scientists), the chimpanzee. A large proportion of chimpanzee males are on the run their whole lives long, being chased by other chimpanzee males… and killed.shock

Male chimpanzees patrol the perimeter of their territory in large groups on a daily basis. They will think nothing about raiding a neighboring community, killing all males and infants. And killing is not always enough. Sometimes the victims are tortured before being killed.wow

But why do they kill each other? Studies have shown that they kill to gain access to females, territory and food resources. Does it sound familiar?confused

This murderous behavior is not restricted to the males only. Females were often observed to kill infants, and in rare cases to eat them. Observers witnessed an infanticide, where a bleeding mother with a one-week-old child, was pursued by six females, five of which had clinging infants themselves. After a 10-minute struggle, the infant was taken and killed with a bite. These infant killings are more prevalent when food is in short supply.uh oh

At first, this behavior was attributed to the interference of man, but countless studies by reputable researchers indicate that it is in their nature to kill off competition. When I compare their behavior with ours, their violent nature makes it easy to believe that we have a common ancestor somewhere in the distant past. Our primal instincts are still very close to the surface.hole

An Eye For An Eye?

Does a man deserve to live after he had purposely and intentionally killed another man? I hear this nonsense all the time about his constitutional right to live but what about the rights of the person he had killed?dunno

I believe that every person has the right to live and therefore has the right to defend his own life; or the life of another, providing that he does not use excessive force. professor

Killing somebody by negligence and/or recklessness should be heavily punished according to the circumstances. We cannot claim an accident if we were reckless or negligent.scold

I don’t believe that crimes of passion or things done on the spur of the moment are any different than any other crime. If you have intended to kill at the time, you should pay for that crime.

To me attempted murder is no different than murder. Doing a bad job is no mitigation. It is the intent that matters; not the result. doh

No, I don’t think a man deserves the right to live if he had willfully killed another; no matter what the reason. He had forfeited that right when he took it away from another.

Bhut Chaturdashi aka the Indian halloween

Embedded image from another site

Bhut Chaturdashi ( has fallen on 2nd nov this year ) in India is analogous to the halloween festival and is celebrated on the day before Diwali ( has fallen on 3rd nov this year ) - the festival of lights. According to hindu myth bhut-s ie spirit-s come out on the chaturdash ( fourteenth ) night of the hindu calendar month Kartika ( middle of october to middle of november ). While the name Bhut Chaturdashi is used in eastern India ( the states of bengal, assam, and tripura ) it is known as Naraka Chaturdashi / Kali Chaudash / Roop Chaudash / Chhoti Diwali in north India. Sky lanterns ( a kind of paper balloon which gets the requred thrust from hot air due to the burning paraffin in its chamber - see top image ) are released and sky lamps ( paper lanterns with earthen oil lamps as their light source ) are hanged in long bamboo poles ( see bottom image - now-a-days city dwellers use electric bulbs for convenience which can be seen in the picture ) in the villages of bengal so that the ghosts ignore those lighted homes. People eat fourteen types of cooked vegetables and lit fourteen wax candles at every doorstep in their homes to protect themselves from evil apparitions. In the state of goa grass-stuffed paper-made effigies of Narakasura ( a demon of the hell ) are burnt on this day to symbolize the triumph of good over evil. On the eve of Diwali goddess Kalika ( commonly known as kali ) is worshipped in bengal and specially in assam - the latter being the birthplace of Tantra ( magical spells ) and the whole India celebrates with loads of firework.

Just being curious here

Yes I know this is a bit of a piggyback post because OldBlue is asking something similar - but not exactly the same.

Why would someone want you, what do YOU bring to the table? Your looks? Your brain? Your interests and hobbies?

Perfect world, use this blog as a shop window and advertise yourself. And - let's not be mean, pointing and laughing at someone else's answer. Or even be sycophantic and agree with someone else? I won't comment (I know, it will very nearly kill me)
