I met these people, and for all I know they met on CS although that would be a fantastic coincidence and, if they read this blog, a little embarrassing. So I shall say nice things. They ARE nice.

He is, I don't know, middle-aged, very fit and bronzed, good-looking, with a drop-dead-gorgeous French accent for the perhaps 2 dozen English words he knows. Which is about as many French words as I know. He does also speak a little Spanish. About as much as I do. That's really not a lot of Spanish.

She is a little younger, mid to late forties? extremely attractive, Spanish, lives a few hours up the coast from here. She speaks no French and no English.

They are staying a week. Would you go away on holiday with someone you basically couldn't understand or speak to except in the most general of terms? For a week?

Aarrrgh...I'm so tired, exhausted don't feel like working and think anymore so I'm blogging!

Still at work but don't feel like working anymore ...after such a busy day of trying to sort out others's mess...

I was always under the impression that love and hate was the same emotion; just opposite ends of the scale but I was wrong.

I have learned that people can both love and hate somebody with the same intensity. This is more often so with women (no intention here of bashing women), while men rather tend to dislike.

Hate is a dangerous emotion and it consumes more energy than anything else. It will eat you up from the inside and spit you out as an empty shell when it has burned out, leaving you bitter and lonely. You can never be happy as long as you carry hate in your heart; it is all consuming.

When you love and hate the same person, nothing – not even the death of that person – can satisfy the urge for revenge. Death will only rob you of the object of your hate and leave you empty. Therefore you would help such a person if possible if his life was in danger.

When a man dislikes somebody intensely enough he will enter a stage of feeling nothing for that person. No love, no hate, no dislike, just nothing. The person would not exist in his life and he could not be bothered if the person was alive or not. A far more dangerous emotion or rather lack of emotion. He would literally feel nothing for the person.

If you walk around with hate in your heart, get rid of it; before it consumes you. It will imprison your heart and ransom your soul.

Things change. Sometimes good and sometimes bad. We get elated when it's good but when it's bad we feel dissatisfied and disappointed.

This is how I feel about Paris. It used to be different. Very clean and relatively safe. Now I strolled downtown, ate and shopped in the same place five years ago and I feel so much different. I can feel the deterioration and lack of safety which was prevalent in the old days.

My friend who lives here for the last 30 years feels the same way. Like everyone they share the sentiments of being diluted, polluted which eventually leads to the biggest fear every European feels in the current political and social cultural events sweeping the whole union, the influx of migrants from Africa and middle east.

Change is constant, nothing is permanent. I only hope that this volatile climate doesn't lead to the complete disappearance of the old, distinct and unique European culture as we once knew.

Anyways, I am here to enjoy myself and simply observe how it is. I will try to come every year and feel for myself the events that shape a country I used to love before it's completely lost.
