Hugz_n_Kissez: I don't own a gun either...but will use whatever hurts the most too in best defense....
Hi Sweetie, I don't own one either , but I do know how to use one and pretty darn accurately if I might add. Thanks Dad, well actually I should say thanks mom, she taught me more. Dad couldn't shoot the broad side of a barn. But my Mom pick any thing at any distance, it's a gone.
vonney: I dont think such manouveres would be of benefit these days
I wasn't representing it as an effective solution for today. I was stating how much I admire the man for his stance against violent revolution, and his ingenious use of spectacle in swaying popular opinion. When a group commits violent revolution, propaganda can label them as rebels or terrorists. When a group commits non-violent revolution, its hard to pin such abhorrent labels on them.
I don't think guns are the problem. It all depends on who is in posession of that gun, and what they plan to do with it. A gun in the hands of a well intentioned person could be a good thing. If your life were in danger, I would think you'd want a responsable gun owner to intervine. It comed down to the criminals, or the citizens.
I remember watching a documentary once. A S.W.A.T. team member said that sometimes you have to take a life to save one. We should all take a step back, and really consider that statement. That said, I fully support the second amendent. Besides, if you didn't have a gun, you'd just have to find another way to kill someone who is trying to kill you.
In response to: The Constitution of the United States was adopted in 1787. Our forefathers wrote the Second Amendment to the Constitution to empower homesteaders the right to protect their family from anyone who would cause them harm. The western part of the United States was wild and still being developed. Indians or even other landowners would try to run you off your property. In 1787 there weren’t local police departments, the FBI or any type of law enforcement agency. A family had to have a gun to protect themselves.
It is now 2009 and the Second Amendment still gives citizens of the United States the right to bear arms “in case someone intends to commit robbery in their home or any other type of crime”. People who want a gun in their home, or on their person, use the Second Amendment as an excuse to own a weapon.
We don’t have to worry about the Indians attacking our land anymore. Hunters have guns for the sport of hunting and this is not in question. The National Rifle Association states if you want a gun, you should have it. They are very fond of the Second Amendment.
The Constitution has been amended 27 times. It is time to change it again? Should we amend the Second Amendment so that people do use it as an excuse to own a gun. Laws have been changed requiring people to fill out applications for permission to own a gun but it hasn’t deterred the amount of crime. It’s easy to own a gun these days. If the Second Amended was changed people who owned guns, just for the sake of having it, wouldn’t be protected by the Constitution.
Here’s a thought. If we can’t control who owns guns, maybe we can control the bullets….

I do too...although I am not sooooo sure about accuracy...but I know how to use a rifle..shot-gun and a handgun from my Correctional Officer days...and let me tell ya...those tests are not easy to pass...the instructor stands screaming out targets...and positions all out order and you have to hit the right ones...while standing...sitting or laying prone in the right position...and that was for the shot-gun...It's called a stress walk and let me tell ya they call it that for a good reason...BUT I passed them all at least....

Good deal, cause it could come in handy if the bad guy has the gun and you mangage to get a hold of it, knowing how to use it and being somewhat comfortable with using one. You get to live.

Yes...and not only that...I have great respect for what they can do to....and I could and would use it if I had to...if it came down to me or him...It wouldn't be me....
mylifewithu: Except when your life is truely in danger. I bet you change your mind then as to who lives and who dies. It's our own instinct and will to survive. Or if you don't try you just die.
I appreciate your view but I know having been in fear of my life I could not pick up a gun....
I was married into farming when I was abused I could have so easily have picked up a knife or shotgun but did not...How easily that would have been when I was held by the throat and beaten...
I never hit back out and know I would never that is just me...
Would it have made me feel any better... no but ten times worse...

Been there sweetie, and if any way I had to stop things and live, I promise I would have. Yeah if we aren't comfortable with something like a gun then we won't touch one. If you are then it might have been something you would have gone for when you knew you needed to. My sister nearly died from a man with a gun many times but did finally die running from one and got hit by a car on a freeway to escape.
So myself I will use a gun if I can get a hold of one or any thing else to save my life.

Same here But I am not as familiar with shotguns, but handguns I have messed with a little and know to turn off the safety on them to shoot them.
when politicians say control they really mean tax the hell out of i can't afford that . also correct me if i'm wrong but technically in the beginning didn't settlers kinda move in on the indians territory ?
