Snuggs09: Each day we hear about drugs seized at the airport. Where there are drugs, there are guns. Drug dealers carry guns to kill anyone that gets in their way. They are defending themselves against law enforcement to enable them to get the drugs on the street.

Are any of the posters saying that the 2nd Amendment gives them the RIGHT to do this?

Come you are smarter than this....doh statement

And guns were used to kill people when alcohol was illegal as well.

When was the last time you heard of an alcohol sale going bad, resulting in a shooting spree?

You really think the drug dealers are carrying legally-obtained guns? You think if we made all guns illegal, that the criminals would stop by their local precinct and turn over their firearms?

Violence and to kill/harm is not the answer..... no matter what...
That would be my preference. As a matter of fact, if the US government could guarantee (and actually follow through) that they could significantly reduce the amount of guns accessible to criminals by at least 85%, I would seriously consider agreeing with a gun ban. But I don't trust my government or any hot air that comes out of their mouths, and I sure as heck don't trust them to protect me.

Theoretically yes. In reality, no, because none of those guns you speak of are legal to begin with, so their use in any capacity is illegal.

I have purchased my weapons legally. So did the kids at Columbine. Its not the fault of the weapon that it is utilized in such a horrific manner.

In buddhism, everything is endowed with a buddha nature. Everything is subject to the ten worlds, from hell to buddhahood. A knife or a gun can be used to harm and cause grief, but they can also be used to defend and instruct. Free will and education are what decides this, not the presence or lack of a gun.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. The only thing you get when you outlaw guns is fatter cougars and richer and more successful criminals. That is the nature of the worlds of hell, hunger, animality, and anger.

dunno ....i know what your sayin' ...but, i don't want to be on the recieving end of a gun battle, without one...mind you...i, like bodhi, am a pacifist...i will walk away from most confrontations but, there are sick mind sets that wont let you walk away....and that's just the small picture...there are other issues at hand that i can't believe anyone would even try to debate it....but, to each their own...but, i geuss that's part of it too....nobody will want to leave ME to MY own, when my rights are taken away...sigh ...mumbling ....

You're an American, and this is how much you cherish your Liberties, that you're willing to give it up for any Goon?
Mow u know one part of whats wrong in America.I own a gun that stays in my house,I have a permit,I live alone and feel much safer wih it under the pillow next to me.I wouldnt want to kill anyone but I would make someone think twice before robbing me.I to would say some of the games for kids I have seen teach a child how to aim shoot and kill, they also make the child mind conditioned to be hard to seperate reality from fanasty.

newlife09: I think they've been tightening the laws for some time now.

Doesn't seem to be working.

And thankfully, the overwhelming majority of US citizens support firearm ownership...as is represented percentage-wise in this thread.

Hope you and snugs stay put, else we'll have no one to talk to!!!

That was a nice thing to say but I have to attend to my job soon. I've run dry of ideas trying to show what my intent was with this thread.

Hunters think I hate them....not true. I don't believe in killing animals unless you skin them for a coat and eat every piece of flesh from the body like the indians did. To kill an animal just put it's head on the wall is......I'll keep that to myself.

If someone lives in a high crime area such as South Central, California where there are gangs, you might think you need a firearm to protect your family. My answer to that is: move out of the area and leave the guns to the gun shows.
