StressFree: Anyways, how would US citizens protect themselves if the Republic failed? What if the USA disintegrated and became a free for all?

Who would then have the power?

The individual.... wow, I think that is what our forefathers had intended.

The_Kansan: Indeed, friend! But only with proper provocation and forethought. Otherwise we are in danger of becoming the minority statistics that our misguided opposition resort to to prove our animalistic intentions.

Agreed Kansancheers

Do you know which states require a warning shot when an intruder breaks into your home? I think it's in California...if somebody breaks into your home, you have to give a warning shot into the ceiling...if the intruder does not leave, then you have every right to shoot at the burglar before he or she takes yours...

Tamarin: But the law comes under the system....

Let the people vote on what they want not the head Honchos in Washington....

A gun and knife ban has reduced weapon crime here....

Surely the USA looks at other countries positive moves.....

The USA is only one country in a huge world....

Yet it's gun laws have an impact on the whole world...

We are talking now about the world not just one country....

So do you think Stress you have a right to take anothers life?

So, you are saying the world is full of follower... sheep.... being lead to slaughter? I don't see that. I hope that people can think for themselves.

Damn straight I have that right if my life and home was threatened by a serial killer or a gang or just an armed burglar.

Even if I did not have a gun, I'd still find something to defend myself with and possible kill the intruder.

WTF Tam? Should I just bend over and allow the burglar to kill my kids and me? It's called self defense. It's either me or him.

The people will vote to keep the right to bear arms...

Scotland does not have nowhere near the thugs that America has. The crime rate would not go down, impossible.

The USA is a way of life and more than just a country.

at the risk of sounding harsh here guys, i have friends in the local gun-club.....same damn argument over and over again....getting to sound like a broken record....PLEASE come up with new arguments for pro-gun ownership for allconfused

and i would undoubtedly love to see an argument for countries where gun-ownership is strongly advocated and allowed similar rights to america-and their firearm statistics per capita, and too prove that it has a definite positive on their society

(i know i'm lazy but hey gimme a break, i went to the saints and sinners ball last night and am EXHAUSTED!!)

I guess I am just a pacifist through and throughlaugh

IT is a US based company that has the biggest arms sales in the world and IMO the US needs to really look at its Code of Conduct when it comes to privately owned arms....

I respect your view it is just a pity that there are those that do not respect many of us are pacifists and our views...

What would I do if someone broke into my home...I would be calling the police, picking up my kids very silently and leaving until the police arrived....Who are trained and know how to deal with burglars etc...

The things in my house are just material possessions and can be replaced but a life can never.....

As I said before a man is more physically powerful than a woman especially when she is concerned about her hysterical kids and not wanting to upset them more....

No I would get out and stay out till the police came...

Sounds like something California would do, but I don't know for sure if that's actually the state that instituted that particular caveat. Any rational person, of course, would fire the warning shot into the ceiling AFTER taking care of the more pressing business of dealing with an intruder. (Personally, I'd want to make damn sure that the "warning shot" didn't ruin a light fixture or cause a short in the wiring or some other such damage not easily repaired.)

No new arguments are needed. History and the Red Coat imperialism is a lesson that we don't need to learn again.

It's not about what is positive or negative. It's about an individual's right. The bow and arrow is not the problem, it's the Indian and the tribe he comes from....if you will.

T that was the worst working day off my working life...

We had a message to get all the children inside and the doors and shutters came down and there we were locked in a Nursery school as all the schools were through out Scotland....the phone rang constantly and we could here parents running to the doors etc...

Now children we are going to talk about night and the dark....
We will be staying a little later than normal...

All we had been told was a whole class had been shot in a school somewhere in Scotland.....
