Let me make this clear.

In the United Kingdom, it is legal to have a gun, if a person holds a licence to have one.

A person who does not hold that licence, who has a gun, is committing a criminal offence.

Tamarin now!

Tam, I am not aware there is no longer a 'Britain'

My own personal view now!

I am not an advocate of guns, but I would trust a person who knows how to use one, as Kansan and Zee, to use them as an example.

I have never held one, let alone seen one.

I have lived in seven countries, but hell, if I was somehere where I was confronted with a person who was about to maime me, I would want Kansan or Zee there.

Tamarin: But the law comes under the system....

Let the people vote on what they want not the head Honchos in Washington....

A gun and knife ban has reduced weapon crime here....

Surely the USA looks at other countries positive moves.....

The USA is only one country in a huge world....

Yet it's gun laws have an impact on the whole world...

We are talking now about the world not just one country....

So do you think Stress you have a right to take anothers life?

Yesterday this post started. I have tryed to follow it because,
I am a gun owner that believes in a citizen right to own a gun. I have read the post from the U.K stating how nice it is in their country of the United Kingdom. I googled the United Kingdom gun laws and have found A completly different story. In the above statement. 1,Yes let the people vote on gun owner ship I believe that the Majority would vote to keep their guns.
2 show me where a gun and knife band has reduced crime. Do you think the Laws of the land have done this. The person that rapes or kills or robbers.
3. I see other countries with even more problems than the U.S has.
4.France, China and Russia are supplyers in the world of gun running. Also guns are made in Italy. Sweden. Germany and through out Europe.5. Do I Have a right to take a life Yes I do and There is a law that protects me also. I have the right to own a firearm.

gooddogman: Their are some very evil people that would hurt you. I respect the view of deadly force only against deadly force. I also would like a peaceable soultion to end a situation but I would rather live another day. I would not let someone harm me or you or anyone else even if their point of view is different. Guns are a fact of life and they can kill you, the person that wants to do you harm also knows that. As Colt said it is a great equializer.

Here is the law

Why the caps? Does it strengthen your argument? laugh

Killings would not stop if there were no guns in society...history can back me up on this one.

Like I said, it's not the gun, it's the person and society that is shooting that gun.

Blame the world and it's inefficient way to educate and give sound knowledge to the people.

It is like going around in circles with this thread ...there are some not from the States who have tried to express their opinion that in their eyes having a gun is not acceptable in their eyes and a gun is designed to kill and harm...

Then there are those that see only their way is right ...okay that is fine but do not attack a nation constantly and its people because you sink to that base with your discussion/arguement....

Several European women have tried to express their pacifist views and you have come back with the same nationality arguement everytime.....

This thread was about guns and not nationalties but then we are on an Int Forum and the differences in ways of thinking has become very apparent....

As has the differnt gender view....thank goodness many women are pacifists and want to live not harming one another.....

That we females in the main would think before we acted....

Each to their own...different strokes for different folks but the biggest weapons manfacturing and exporting comes from the USA....Money would have nothing to do with your Gun Laws?????

There are good and bad the whole world through but the USA makes zillions from weapons....

I am certainly very happy that "I" do not have to live in such FEAR that "I" have to think all guns should be taken away from all citizens of the world, and I am very happy that "I" am smart enough to know that criminals will not give up their guns regardless of any laws anywhere..professor

Snuggs09: The Constitution of the United States was adopted in 1787. Our forefathers wrote the Second Amendment to the Constitution to empower homesteaders the right to protect their family from anyone who would cause them harm. The western part of the United States was wild and still being developed. Indians or even other landowners would try to run you off your property. In 1787 there weren’t local police departments, the FBI or any type of law enforcement agency. A family had to have a gun to protect themselves.

It is now 2009 and the Second Amendment still gives citizens of the United States the right to bear arms “in case someone intends to commit robbery in their home or any other type of crime”. People who want a gun in their home, or on their person, use the Second Amendment as an excuse to own a weapon.

We don’t have to worry about the Indians attacking our land anymore. Hunters have guns for the sport of hunting and this is not in question. The National Rifle Association states if you want a gun, you should have it. They are very fond of the Second Amendment.

The Constitution has been amended 27 times. It is time to change it again? Should we amend the Second Amendment so that people do use it as an excuse to own a gun. Laws have been changed requiring people to fill out applications for permission to own a gun but it hasn’t deterred the amount of crime. It’s easy to own a gun these days. If the Second Amended was changed people who owned guns, just for the sake of having it, wouldn’t be protected by the Constitution.

Here’s a thought. If we can’t control who owns guns, maybe we can control the bullets….
