I am who I am

I am who I am
Who else would I be
I won’t change for you
So why change for me
I won’t waste my life
Being someone I can not be
Because I’m not a fake
Unwilling to break
Get used to what you see
I’m going to be me.

Creation and Cremation

Swirling and twirling around my head
Leaves letting go of the trees
Lifting off in in what little breeze
Makes that last journey to the ground
Always to the ground they will go
Brushed aside into a growing pile
Here they will sit just a little while
Lots and lots of color be brought
In a flash as the fire gets caught
Now watch as smoke goes up and up
Swirling and twirling around my head

Fire Kids (Cafetwo Challenge)

Most children touch fire once...
Learning to never touch it again...
Some children seem to forget the pain...
Touching the hot coals again....
A few children seem to never learn...
Constantly getting themselves burned...
But one child knows no other way...
Hot coals is where he constantly lays....

DOWN LIFE'S ROAD

Whistle as you wander down life's road,
Will you become an eagle or a toad?
Cause you don't know what each new day will bring,
So play and prance and laugh and dance and sing,

Trouble as you wander down life's road,
You weaken underneath the heavy load,
And you don't know exactly what to do,
Fight with all your might crash on through,

Steady now you wander down life's road,
You are becoming what you've always known,
And now you know what wisened days will bring,
Reach out to grab hold of the Brass Ring,

Cautious strides with purpose down life's road,
Thankful that your story can now be told,
Cause now you know what each new day will bring,
So pray and praise and let those Churchbells ring.

About this poem:
In our lives we will make billions of decisions, thousands every day. Each has the potential to forever change our lives. So be wise as Solomon, don't let things get you down, and enjoy the journey Down Life's Road.

Skin wear

I've got my heart over my skin
Exposed.. Ready for the viewing..
Like a tattoo, like an emblem,
Like a statement or an anthem..
I've got my heart over my skin
Offered to the sun and the wind
To the cold, the frost and rain
Up to scratches and the pain...
I've got my heart over my skin
My love, my soul, all my feelings
My every note, the words I sing
Engraved along my rugged skin...
I've got my heart over my skin
For it's too big to stay within
And it's easier to make it sing
When every beat is shivering...
I've got my heart over my skin
Warm, fiery little thing
Pulsing, ticking like a bomb
At all moment, every second...
I wear my heart over my skin
Open, exposed, weak and fragile
But protected by a shield
Made of your smile...

About this poem:
In England, they talk about having your heart on your sleeve... in France we talk about having your heart on the edge of your skin.. à fleur de peau... which is kind of difficult to translate... on the edge doesn't give credit to it.. but the idea is there.. just underneath the surface..
I say I wear my heart on my skin.. kinda combination of both languages I guess...
Anyway... I like the text.. I made a nice blues out of it!

IF I WAS A TREE

If I was a tree,
I'd stand mighty and tall,
I would turn brilliant colors,
In the cool chill of Fall,

I would always reach out,
Drawing strength from God's Earth,
Adding one ring upon another,
From the year of my birth,

My foliage in full bloom,
Would shade you from the burn,
My intricately woven branches,
Protect you when rains return,

If I could but speak,
Rings of tales I could tell,
About the many dreams of mankind,
Pennies tossed in Life's wishing well.

About this poem:
All too often I have a moment of clarity concerning the truth that things aren't always what they seem.

Sands of time

The sands of time drift about within the wind
Feel how it blows softly against the skin
Thoughts and feelings are but grains of sand
See how they sift gently from the hand

Words of love seem to have little meaning
but it is the hope of those still dreaming
They sometimes just leave us screaming

The sands of time blowing sublime
Caressing our soul with its passionate heat
As we search blindly to make us feel complete
Watch the ocean waves ebb and flow
rushing to drown us as it pulls us in the tow

The many times I see the foot prints
I still wonder if I am still being carried
Or have I lost my way as I wander aimlessly
into the fray.

I despise my bitterness and dismay
I feel so old and grey
I reflect upon my younger day
when love was a bit easier to play
Its just getting too hard today

So I shall gather a handful of sand
and let it drift softly out of my hand
and consider every grain is nothing
more than unanswered dreams
drifting in dried up streams

Why should I care for a face so fair
with flowing soft hair?
For they don't seem to care either
for a fool thread bare

The many faces

The many faces from many places
What do they say?
The lines and wrinkles their eyes seem to twinkle
They are always so far away

The things they say of themselves
are they their own self perception
or hidden thoughts of deception?

It is said a tree is known by its fruit
A flower known by its scent
Though there are many flowers
that appear to us as beautiful
and cute
Not everything one sees is not
with true intent

How often we want to believe
but we often are deceived
There is but one truth we all hold
so dear
We are sometimes full of doubt and fear

Trust must be earned
and love must be learned
its all we have to avoid getting burned

Yet, do consider that all our life's lessons
and human intercessions
brings us nearer to understanding the God we dance to
Regrets of the past and fear of the future only
tend to lead us to the road of depression

We are all searching for ourselves through the reflection
of others
We are by nature sisters and brothers
Only fools choose to bring harm
by the misuse of their charm

The many faces pretty and sad
Some happy and some perhaps mad
Beyond the masks we wear lies the truth
somewhere
Yet, to be honest nobody is that much
greater or less than another
we all have our burdens to share
some unfortunately may not even care

If we find but one true friend to walk
with us to the end
we can say we have a great treasure
hence embrace them with pleasure
but, learn to set them free
for they will love you for all eternity

For better or for worse

For better or for worse
it often ends from an empty purse
In sickness and health
until you lose your wealth

Yet often we fail because selfishness
tends to prevail
nobody seems to want to place their
faith upon the scale

There is of course the lust that dictates
to think the grass is greener else where
often learning its just not here or there

There was a time people made
promises and commitments
til death do they part
Those days are gone because
of the hardness of our hearts

We view broken relationships
as a badge of pride
Nobody that has one
seems to be interested
to build new ones
even if they tried
Probably they are just
too busy counting the tears
they cried

There seems to something wrong
with those who never married
but when viewing so many
confused and harried
to keep the torch delicately carried
Maybe being a loner and fool is
not so bad
At least a loner can objectively look
from the outside in even though its sad

Nevertheless, for better or for worse
even though it can be viewed as a blessing
or a curse

Its all a matter of individual perception
if we just can't make a connection
