....Friends....

When you're trying to do that which doesn't seem to want to get done... Friends

When you're looking for help in finding that special someone...Friends

When you're struggling with the overwhelming burden of day to day life.... Friends

When you need an encouraging word due to difficulties beyond your ability.... Friends

When you need just a little lift after your spirits have been strained... Friends

When you're lonesome for that special connection that requires no demands... Friends

When times are tough and you've hit solid walls in every direction you've turned... Friends

When you need a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, a word of advise or praise... Friends

When you're about to explode with excitement over some event that's to good to keep to yourself... Friends

What would life be without..... Friends?

About this poem:
My list of "Friends" seems to be growing since turning to the internet for an otherwise boring social life due to being a workaholic.
This poem is written to acknowledge the importance of those special people in our lives! Thanks to all of you who are, and those of you who will become my..... 'Friends'. John

a sunset unshared ...

I was drowning in the golden glow of the dying day,
One evening in the early days of May.
I was alone taking in this wonderous sight.
Pity, for there was enough to share this beautiful disk's dimming light.
A ray.
One ray can kill the blackest night and lifts the soul.
Such a delight.

FRIENDSHIPS

Friendships cannot be measured
in time or space
nor can be broken
in life's fast pace

Crossing angry waves
or basking in the sun
Sweet friendships
can never be undone

Crossing cultures and colors
sweet minds will meet
Like earth's gravity
or a magnet must meet

true friendships, unlike
friendly passing ships
Will stay in memories
in a beautiful peaceful place

A tribute to a remarkable friend, Jim aka, Cafe2010

Your wit and brilliance
Your sense of humor unhinged
You made us all laughed, cried
And even dance

Now you're gone
This place mourning in your absence
Could it be that there's a chance
You'll be back
Even just for a glance?

I know you knew we loved you
Adored and even venerated you
As a friend, brother, and perhaps
Even as a lover

Please remember you'll always be
In our hearts
You're not far away
Your writes, your lines
Will forever grace this place

We will always be near you.

We love you Cafe.

May you forever rest in peace.

Delia in the Attic

Embedded image from another site

When Delia died she disappeared
From mouth and mind
Passing away into the past,
The collective family memory
Described Delia as 'distant'.
Meanwhile,
Mr Delia remained alone a year or so
Then joined Delia in death.

As my in-laws became my out-laws
I climbed to the attic
To perform a purge of unwanted memories
Surprisingly, I discovered Delia.
In an old travel chest
Covered in dead dust motes,
I found her in travel diaries and little notes
In old photos
I found her wearing furs,
Posing in exotic places
Surrounded by smiling friends.

So I pulled Delia from the past
Sitting for some hours in the attic
Soaking up her stories,
She was neither 'odd' nor 'distant'
She was wonderful.
In another time and place
We were surely friends.
Silently, I mourned her for some moments
Then lifted a small cheap charm bracelet
From the old chest
That once atypically adorned Delia's wrist,
To bring her around the world
For one more whirl.

About this poem:
True story, and that's a picture of Delia's little bracelet which I now keep with me in a box I made some years ago. Midsummer tidings to all.

Since you came into my life

Since you came into my life
I just can't stop thinking about you
You brought a joy
I never knew was missing

Since you came into my life
I find myself smiling more than ever
I can't wait to see what surprise
You have sent by email or messenger

Be it poetry or questions
You have my world spinning
But I feel free
As if found someone just like me

You got me thinking
Thoughts I long ago forgot

I am in a daze
I am amazed
by you

It feels good
although
It is still so new

But I am thankful
That you came into my life

Let Kindess Walk Through Your Door

There are hermit souls that live withdrawn
In the place of their self-content;
There are souls like stars that dwell apart,
In a fellowless firmament.

There are pioneer souls that blaze the paths
Where highways never ran-
But let me live in a house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

Let me live in a house by the side of the road
Where the race of men go by
The men who are good, the men who are bad,
As bad and as good as I.

I would not sit in the scorner's seat
Nor hurl the cynic's ban-
Let me live in a house by the sound of the road
And be a friend to man.

I see from my house by the side of the road
By the side of the highway of life
The men who press with the ardor of hope
The men who are faint from the strife.

But I turn not away from their smiles and tears
Both parts of an infinite plan-
Let me live in a house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

I know there are brook-gladdened meadows ahead
And mountains of wearisome height;
That the road passes on through the long afternoon
And stretches away to the night.

And still I rejoice when the travelers rejoice
And weep with the strangers that moan
Nor live in my house by the side of the road
Like a man who dwells alone.

Let me live in a house by the side of the road
Where the race of men go by
They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong,
Wise, foolish-So am I.

Then why should I sit in the scorner's seat
Or hurl the cynic's ban?
Let me live in a house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

new friends

Come take my hand and lets walk the miles, as we make eachother smile. Lets weave our imagination and let the patterns unfold. Looking for rainbows of dreams untold, leave no room for false pretenses or deceptions. As personalitys unfold, let true person shine,as stories are told.

400 poems

400 poems seems like
a whole bunch of
chatter
But CS poets can
sum up the matter
It's all for one
and one for all
Where Knight's and
Maidens stand ten
feet tall!
Step up to the plate
and spin out a verse
Make it long and windy
or make it terse
Tease us, please us,
or make us cry
Tommorow we'll laugh
under our castle sky
A lil imagination is
good for the soul
What magic hath thee
to fill this bowl?
White stallions await
on restless hooves
We'll send forth doves
or we'll chase down
wolves
We're an army of one
under this firy sun
Three cheers to CS
for all this fun~

Just Because

Just because you ask me to
does not mean, of that, I can
nor does it mean from challenge,
hurriedly, away from yours I ran.

It merely means that I have precious
little talent to write upon demand
but script what comes into my mind
while striving to do the best I can.

Long hours are spent at work;
remaining time is spent at play.
Just trying to keep up with it all
is how I spend most every day.

From trimming hedges, overgrown
to binding clippings left to dry
my day has been filled with things
enough to make one sweat and sigh.

Poetry is my refuge from all things
that highlights life’s hard places
and brings my spirit some welcomed relief
when received by your kind graces.

To meet your challenge, I did try,
since you so kindly asked us to.
And, here I’m typing rhyming words
of a poetic post from me to you.

Just because…
