SHADOWS OF LIFE.

You're in my dreams, do you know who you are.
Maybe your the moon, or a bright shining star
Magic of the night, warmth on every dull day
Your words poetry, send emotional-sun-rays

If feeling lost, know you're my special one
As a brand new day, when old one's done
Echo of my senses, as past memories run
Shadows united, quietly watch a dying sun

Maybe you're my other side, balance in life
If one is overwhelmed, other controls strife
Sharing a special place, thoughts entwine
Magical moments, gifts with no earthly sign

Snow

We had our first real Christmas snow today and yesterday
I should have gone out and made something out of it
I made a snowman back in November
I made a Rudolph pumpkin carving on December 1
I etched it so when you put a light inside it glows orange-red
Around Rudolph
It should stop snowing around one in the afternoon
In a snowstorm dumping five inches on 2,000 square miles
Which is about the size of Grant and Iowa County, Wisconsin
There are 5 quintillion snowflakes
That's a 5 followed by 18 zeros.
A cubic foot of snow contain about one billion crystals
If you watch The Grinch Who Stole Christmas(Jim Carrey)
It takes place on a very small part of a snow crystal
Other movies with snow and ice
Frozen, where Elsa can create ice and Olaf from her majic
Frosty the Snowman who comes to life with a hat and then a kiss from Crystal
Groundhog Day where Phil knows it's tomorrow by the snow on the ground
The Shining where Jack is frozen in the cold hedge maze
And The Thing where an alien preys on people in the snowy Antarctica

KISS

I look for you
I miss you

you're in a thousand memories
I have forgotten the warmth, but yearn fervor

where are you?
I'll find you in this life?

I'll have!
I know you're there!

This Side Of Nowhere

In a little town this side of nowhere
And across the county line there still aint no hope
For happiness with someone to marry
And I didn't even mail the last letter I wrote

Around here it still looks like nineteen sixty
And pot holes go on for miles
No one here is whistling Dixie
No one here knows how to wear a smile

In a little town this side of nowhere
Through the years the damage was done and no way to mend
And here life is wasting away
And no one wants to call that a sin

Driving Miss Daisy......

It’s a black black night
Reflectors everywhere
To keep my path right
No moon and only two stars
Holding tight
It’s a black black night

It’s a black black night
Cane fires burning
Ironically is an amazing sight
Headlights beaming
Bitumen steaming
It’s a black black night

It’s a black black night
Radio’s dead
There’s music in my head
I can hear the words said
It’s hours to my bed
It’s a black black night

It’s a black black night
Peering eyes from roadside
White lines can not hide
Every noise multiplied
Eyes open wide
It’s a black black night

It’s a black black night
Driving miss daisy
Feeling kinda hazy
Don’t want to be lazy
I think I’m going crazy
It’s a black black night ........

Christmas Cards

Sending out my yearly Christmas cards
One to my landlord
One to my godmother who is 98
Send one to my mom who is 13 miles from me
Sister, aunt, brother
California, New York City, Wisconsin, Illinois
I see only two of these people
All the rest I only get in touch by facebook or just the card
Mine this year is the same as last year

About this poem:
I try to write something in each one to let them know what I have done this last year. Missing my dead dad, dealing with my mom's dementia and he eventual placement in a nursing home, two movies out, a hockey game tonight, and going to the Mall of America, and the coronavirus.

Last Thanksgiving?

I went to my Mom's for Thanksgiving
I was surprised to see my great niece and nephew Lexi and Hayden there
Lexi just got her drivers license and borrowed her Mom's car
I did not know if we were going to have a meal at home or at McDonald's
We had no meal together last year
So this year I just went over and found out
If I had did that for Christmas I would have had room in my stomach for ham
But I went to China Buffet instead
Inspired by the movie A Christmas Story
We had ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie
I don't know what next year will bring
Will Mom be in a home?
Will my nephew Shane be homeless?
But at least we got together

About this poem:
I have to wait and see if we have a Christmas get together. My sister and her kids have boycotted my Mom and Shane and want nothing to do with them. It's a shame because there were 24 people that came over for Christmas back in 2018, 2019 the total was 5.

"Last Chance Lover"

Some say loving is gambling
But my card decks have other use
Nowadays games and relationships are scrambling
Surely there is a certain abuse

The fortune is always counting on random
Real chances are rare
If some people bet and lack a condom
Better forget to be bare

Are there really fair players?
So many friends cry on my shoulder

However, I keep my faith on prayers
Meanwhile the game is over

An image of my beloved

If I could paint a vision of beauty and truth to decorate
the heavenly skies they would be your dreamy eyes
Oh but what brush shall I use to your muse?

If I could build a temple in honor of your dimples when you smile
What material would be best to fashion your style?

If I were to sculpt your succulence I could never perfect it as well as who shaped you previously in your opulence

Though you may have your own vision of self image
What you may not see another can paint a tapestry to fill a museum of your beauty

We all come in many shapes and colors as we can physically see the basics
Yet, can anyone paint the myriad of hopes and dreams
tucked away inside our hearts that may have or not come true?
As we watch our days pass by like a rippling stream

Can we see the lines that mark our times of joy and sorrow painted on our face and still see the beauty to embrace?
Have we become so bitter dancing in our litter that we
have forgotten our true selves exhausted from the race?

When I think of you dancing in the morning dew as the flowers unfold to praise you

When I see the oceans crash about I think of your pretty little pout
As I feel the pains of old age creeping in and ponder my life with doubts

I see my beloved reaching for my hand as she leads me to the promised land.

A FRIEND HAS DIED

Today a friend of mine has sadly died
I know not when, I know not where
Yet only yesterday we laughed and cried
Yet still today she is not here

Her voice oh so sweet was clearly heard
Sharing stories of life and love
Across the land with gentle words
They flew just like a graceful dove

So suddenly this world she left
A vacant place upon the stage
Leaving us so bereft
For the rest of our age

To her place among the stars
Shining bright for evermore
Through her message in those bars
Resounding in our mind in the score

But what that sweet sound
I hear yet now and then
Her voice is still around
For us to hear once again

So if you do not mind
I will keep that gentle sound
Playing over in my mind
Waiting till she is found.
