Mixed up thoughts

Mix your thoughts
All jumbled up
Life's body grows from seed to dust
From youth to adults we gather are thoughts
Who are we why we here where we going we do not know
On are sole journey
Full of life highs and lows
We battle are thoughts
Are dreams are thoughts
On are journey are independent life

Stealing

It's #7 of the commandments
Stealing is really bad
It comes in many forms
I see at work in our lost benefit that cost five people their jobs
I see it in my family as my mom waits to be put in a home
Her home stolen from her by her favorite grandson
Six years of not working and taking for every dime she had left
I see it with my friend who has estranged himself from his family
From years of taking with no intention of paying it back
I see it in our national debt that steals interest on our saved money
And a future of possible financial meltdown
I see it in our devalued money where 13 dollars in 1979
Would be worth over 44 dollars today
I see it in our wages
High interest loans that have made more money than gambling as of late
I experience it every day as the covid 19 response has stolen freedom
Freedom to go see a ballgame, freedom to gather together, and jobs from people
Theft
It's not what I want in my life

About this poem:
We lost our WOW program at work due to five people who were using the program to line their pockets, and my mom waits to see her freedom stolen from her as her beloved grandson has used her love as a whip against her.

PROMISE OF SPRING

Embedded image from another site

The promise of spring is in the air
Sights and sounds tantalizing nose and ear
Crocuses bravely breaking forth from the ground
Centers of gold – looking like little purple crowns

Gentle rain with a misty fog on the pond
Bringing mystical creatures with loud sounds
Little tiny beings gathering together to sing
Tantalizing us with the promise of spring

Snow melting slowly into the ground and streams
Provoking even more wishful spring dreams
Temperatures dipping way up and way down
Helping to keep hopes and dreams abound

Early Snowdrops have blossomed and gone
While spring flowers still sleeping underground
New bright green peeking up here and there
Fueling the feeling of spring in the air

Lenten season will be soon gone
Then the promise of Easter morning dawn
Celebrating our Risen Savior resurrected and alive
And the blessing of Spring and warm sunshine

Light

You know the Beginning:
When the Heavens came into
Being
In that dark time, the eye begins to see,
God met his shadow in the deepening shade;
heard his echo in a weeping voice
And The Light looked,
Shining the barest part of
Himself down, so that
The Darkness could see.

America

Even in the best of times
Not much goes unnoticed
Except perhaps what will come
Reminds us where we’re rooted
As children we all will grow
No attempt to the unknown
I’m into family and success
As far as the seed is thrown
What suites you I wish you best
Whatever you want to recover
We are the best and damn the rest
To a future we hope rediscover
Our next of kin shall begin
Our moment of discovery
When peaceful demonstrations
Don't fade away and away
Or lead us astray in any way
From all we call contenders
We reach up with a hand that’s fast
For freedom that lasts and lasts
What we are fighting for
I rest my case and still adore
A country named..... America

a right to shine

I spit bars for the cruel n the kind
And stars shine brighter when ya free up the mind
In a world where the blind are leading blind
My suggestion for progression is to knock seek n find
Banging on those same hollow doors
But I gots my path n you got yours
Drama baggage n flaws
And perception makin wars
In that mind heart n soul
Anger upset they're on a roll
Remember what you put out comes back
So keep being angry n you'll get back just that
Flip this script quick like an acrobat
Battery fully charged n never flat
Just like the sun
Shine that light until your last breath is done
There's no reason
Every day it is your season
The sun doesn't question whether to rise or not
Whether to shine or not
You came to live so give it all you got
With a shot
Of respect
A bag of gratitude worn round ya neck
Songing n singing what the heck
The ship might wreck
But I'ma survivor
Ting called deep sea diver
Created to win
Paint a picture of ma teeth dem skin
With all this trial n test I stay bless
Ma joy n laughter manifests the very best
Negative depress n stress
Pleeaaaase
You're justa pest
Eyes open
Get ma shine on
Shine so bright n ROAR like lion
The darkness must pass through you but we strong like iron
We came here not to fear
And yet we came to fear
And do what we gotta do anyway
Work hard
And play
Much harder
Appreciate this moment of life
Don't let time be your master

Oscar

Oscar
Before Schindler's List
I thought of Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street
Oscar, the award for good movies, actors, and the worker behind the cameras
On February 4, 1994 I got another famous Oscar
Oscar Schindler saved 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust
Moses led two million Jews out of slavery in Egypt
I remember going to a Wedding of a Christian woman and a Jewish man
It was the first time I had lamb chops
It was the first time I had a braided bread called challah bread
Both were great
I also remember the huge wheel of Brie and crackers
And all the free mixed drinks you could drink
There were pumpkins and fresh snow on the ground
Two days before Halloween in 2011
My favorite Jew other than Oscar Schindler would have to be Adam Sandler
He has had me laughing for 30 years

this time

This time
I'm gonna make you feel so right
Gonna hold you more than tight
I won't let you out ma sight
This time
I'll never make you feel blue
With every waking moment you'll know this Love is true
This time
When I look into your eyes
Crystal clear you'll see no lies
Love expanding n stretching beyond the skies
This time
Though it may seem lika dream
The way I treat you lika queen
We've been n seen the lean n mean & now I'm keen to make a change of scene
This time
Like poetry we will rhyme
In song n dance we'll effortlessly shine
This time
Just
Trust
No lust
No fuss
You n me it's us
This time
Our energies Intertwine n combine
Something like Divine
This time
Nothing will stop our shine

About this poem:
The Ten Commandments has been on TV before Palm Sunday for as long as I can remember. My favorite scenes are when Moses is being threatened with stoning when the slaves find out they have to make their bricks without straw and later when he throws the stone tablets with the ten commandments on them and he says, "Those who will not live by the law, shall die by the law!"
