The Isolation Blog

A place for those of us in lockdown (currently Spain but coming to a place near you soon) to share what's happening or indeed what's not happening, have a winge, report on what's happening "outside" etc. It could also be used for updating who has supplies of toilet rolls in stock professor laugh

I'm lucky that my closest loved ones are here "stuck" with me as we ride this out. Florida has had a big increase in cases. I think part of the problem was when governors around the country started to lock down their states, New York citizens fled to summer homes - possibly in Florida. The Florida governor was quite upset by all the newly acquired citizens but never locked down his state. Maybe that's a reason for more cases in Florida and also a reason to quarantine NY, NJ and parts of CT. I'm not sure, I'm not an expert.

I think here, in Chicago, our citizens are sometimes just acting stupid. The Mayor warns us to stay home as much as possible - many don't adhere and go out and party. She shuts all the bars and restaurants - now there is less reason to go out. The Governor then closes all the restaurants, bars, movie theaters etc in hopes that this will help. Then this past week - our Mayor closed all playgrounds, fieldhouses and playlots across the city but it was noted that the green space and lake front would still be accessible for short limited visits if people would continue to follow the "social distancing" . Well what do you know!!! We had a60 degree day. For those that don't know - 60 degrees in March in Chicago is like 85 degrees anywhere else. The shorts come out, the bicycles come out and people head outside. It was noted in an update a few days ago (along with filmed footage) that people were out playing soccer, playing basketball - taking their dogs to the dog parks and in general, just acting irresponsibly and stupidly. Now there is no access to the lakefront.

If people would just do what they're asked to do and quit all the resistance and bellyaching, it would make things so much easier. On a happier note, one of the 5 year old's teacher came by with her binder, some work, her IPAD as well as some candy and stickers not only for her but for her 2 yr old sister as well. Part of my brain tells me "oh how sweet". The other part tells me - hmmm 2 yr old will be 3 soon - can you say Pre-school. Either way it was nice and will help with the boredom for these 2.
Molly, headline in the papers in two weeks time " Hamptons now world epicenter of virus" doh
GS, not sure why but my intuition tells me you're not a big fan uh oh laugh
Pat, I'm detecting a pattern in your vid selection uh oh laugh
KP, that's what happened here, quite a few from Madrid have holiday homes in this area, the police have stopped them coming now but same as you too late, that said the nearest town to me has 100 cases and so far no deaths so we could be worse of.
Brilliant posts this page Zman. Thanks for sharing.
CC, how's it going round your way ? We've not had a good day again, it'll be another record day sigh

The latest... About a million or so people refused to vote yesterday, out of 3.3 million eligible... They're unlikely to fine anybody, as predicted... They're struggling to count the votes, due to social distancing.

But apparently it was totally safe...

So today, the number of people in a group was reduced from 10 to 2... Only allowed out for buying food, exercise, work. Over 70's strongly advised to totally self isolate. All parks, skatebard ramps etc closed.
Pat, that's more or less what's happening here too. Except there are only very specified people allowed to go out to work.

I went outside the door earlier and all you'd hear is silence. The very occasional car psssing,
but nobody chatting, no kids playing. Just silence.
GS, check your letter carefully for spelling errors, if you have any in your copy that could make it more valuable quicker and you wouldn't have to wait 100 years laugh
Pat, been looking at your stats this morning and you're all doing really well in keeping it down, to that end I think all us bloggers should immediately pay you a visit, I've had a word with Thomas Cooke and they have a cruise liner not being used at present, the Titanic 11 uh oh we will land at Coronaviris Bay on 29th April and no doubt you'll want to arrange a welcoming party professor grin
Thomas or James
Titanic or Endeavour
@ molly

Come aboard and bring the dogs. I can do some training on the journey so that when we arrive we will have 3 beautifully behaved canines.cheering
Pat, if TP is toilet paper the deal's off mumbling never in the history of human endeavour have we surrendered our toilet paper, we will fight you on your beaches, we will never surrender.....it professor
Molly on Cook was an explorer the other a travel agent, one succeeded the other failed, same with the two ships laugh
Ger, I'd be as sick as a dog (no pun intended)
When my stomach was made, travel on water was never taken into account blues
Molly liners these days have brill stabilisers so you might be ok. Mind you if Z is the Captain we could hit a few snags on the way .Know what I mean.dunno
Ger, if Z were my captain, we'd have to make sure we were always on different ends of the ship or there would definitely be a man/woman overboard laugh
Isn't that right, Z? grin
No competition Molly I'm just along for the ride if you'll excuse the pun. All I can say is good job I can swim but might sink with all the metal from replacement joints. Look after the dog if that happens please.crying
Dogs are always safe with me.
Humans maybe not so much laugh
Molly, no problem, the crew will be social distancing professor laugh
Thanks for the laughs today .You've made an old lady very happy. Off to carve up a boneless leg of lamb and enjoy a Sunday roast. The rest will serve me well in the isolation block.

Have a good day guys.cheers
To get a visa here, you must demonstrate having sufficient resources. This means 8 rolls of tp per passenger, per day.
Enjoy your dinner,Ger cheers
Pat, I'm sure we can get a waiver on that, after all we'll be bringing Molly professor
Pat, could I tempt them with my sanitiser wipes instead?
GS, sounds great, what time should we all get there dunno
Z, are you comparing me to toilet paper? mumbling

Although in our present situation, that's probably not a bad thing laugh
Molly, principle of any deal, if you can't supply what they want offer them something else they want even more professor laugh
I know what cattle in a mart feel like now mumbling
I would have considered tp a fairly inelastic supply commodity.
Pat, you could have hit on something there, elastic toilet paper, if it was stretchy the rolls would go further applause

Keep smiling beautiful people hug

Enjoy these little workouts wave
Merc, dancing banana uh oh wow not sure what would kill me first, the virus or your workouts laugh
Either way we will go out with a bang shimmy
