The Isolation Blog

A place for those of us in lockdown (currently Spain but coming to a place near you soon) to share what's happening or indeed what's not happening, have a winge, report on what's happening "outside" etc. It could also be used for updating who has supplies of toilet rolls in stock professor laugh

If you think you have it bad where you are restriction-wise, perhaps have a read of this account of an Irish lady and her family's experience:

It's like 2 different worlds
I'm not reading who has what worse
Oi Merc I thought you were going to give us gentle workouts wow
Started a new roll of loo paper today.

I've probably done that hundreds of thousands of times before, and at MOST the thought has crossed my mind 'running low, must remember to get next shopping trip'.

This time I thought 'I have started a new roll of loo paper today. I must announce it to the world'.

rolling on the floor laughing
Viv the first woirkout will sting but it's a good start laugh

I love exercising to the second video applause
Merc, that would kill me stone dead scold

I do a little stretching, a general shaking out of the limbs, a little gentle trotting on the spot, some breathing exercises, the blood chugs around a little faster, that's me done uh oh
Sorry Viv I have no clue who does what for exercise..I just feel so relieved I'm back to my old self with a huge appetite..I get carried away when I'm pumped up laugh
Merc, "Go out with a bang" now there's a though, going out during a bang is an even better one banana rolling on the floor laughing
Pat, I also wonder when there will be flare-ups, all our armed officials on edge, these are tense times. uh oh
Yes Z after this experience I do plan to go out with a bang and I don't care if he doesn't have teeth rolling on the floor laughing
Chancer, several times I've heard it asked how the Chinese manager to contain the outbreak, imo it doesn't take a lot of imagination, anywhere you can disappear for disagreeing with your government is always going to be able to contain a virus better than the "Free World".

There are a few stories here I haven't posted as they're too grim, as you said earlier we will get through it thumbs up
V and Pat, don't forget the toilet roll calculator I posted earlier professor

Did either of you think to invite the Queen to open your new rolls dunno or even the mayor, they're all looking for ways to make themselves popular at the moment laugh
I'm wiorried any official will take the opportunity to steal the first few rotations, saying- oh they're the first few unsightly squares that are stuck together. which previously I would basically discard, but now guard with a machete.
Merc, but that would be a special occasion confused I'm sure they'd put their teeth in for that dunno laugh
Pat, I have a suspicion that's what the lockdown is all about, politicians who've panic bought toilet rolls knowing what was coming and not wanting visitors to use their stash mumbling laugh
I'm not fussy Z laugh
Pat, I'd be fairly sure there's a university somewhere in the UK being paid (with tax payers money) to study that link already sigh laugh
You do always get the feeling with Piers Morgan that he's settling some personal scores, though. Miaow laugh
V, more than likely laugh
We're in to week 3 of lockdown and it ain't working, either it doesn't work or they have the period between catching it and becoming serious wrong moping
It is working, in a hug hug kiss kiss country like this our figures would be near doubling every day otherwise.

Ït had better be working, anyway. Not going through this for nothing. very mad
Morning all,

Had to share this as it's hilarious and shows how just one family are dealing with this lockdown. It cheered me up no end.

GS I looked to see if your video was on youtube so I coulad post it here for you but it isnt

Hope your smiling hug teddybear
In the Bronx there are many patients incubated who are in their thirties with no underlying medical issues.

Go figure!~
Hi Merc

That's why I had to post the link. I laughed and cried when I watched it . I try posting piccies etc but not worked it out yet .frustrated

I'm fine though bored but keeping going by supporting friends on the phone and sharing my on line shopping trolley with pals that can't get out. We all have to pull together.

Huge hugs as always.teddybear teddybear teddybear
I listened and enjoyed applause

Your a very kind sweet lady..Keep smiling sunshine hug

Loves your hugs and love teddybear teddybear teddybear
V, "It is working"

If it's working why, in week 3 of lockdown, are the numbers 4 times as high now as when we started dunno and why did they feel the need to increase the severity of the lockdown on Monday morning dunno
GS, laugh very good, but grandparents that can't work Skype wow
Basically, you wont see the results for a few weeks, and the increases are exponential not linear... To cut it short, if there were less restrictions the problem would be much worse in a month or so, despite things perhaps not delivering a visible result now.
Merc, rolling on the floor laughing wine
Pat, "Basically, you wont see the results for a few weeks"

That's what I'm saying, we're in week 3 and not only have the numbers not stabilised they've increased by 4 times, if isolation works then after the 14 day maximum period between catching it and symptoms (normal being 3 to 5 days) numbers of new cases should fall, they haven't, they're 4x higher now than when we started, I'm feeling we don't have one single fact about this virus, what we have is guesswork from government scientists.
V, yes I see what you're saying, but then seems to me, judging by the thousands of medical staff who have the virus, that there may be more risk if one is exposed to the virus multiple times, a sort of cumulative effect, if that is the case then locking families up inside with a member of that family having been exposed might have been a huge mistake, also as it now appears you can catch it more than once that locked up families will constantly reinfect each other.

News today that test kits in bought in by the UK have been contaminated with the virus, so who wants to be tested now doh
4 Times higher with restrictions... without it could have been 8 times higher.... It certainly wouldnt be any less.
Pat, Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting measures shouldn't have been taken, more are the measures we have in place here the right ones?
Wish I was back at work. Never knew there was such a lot of work to be done at home. The garage is next on my list.crying
Luke, hope you managed to get what materials you need for the work, here we can't even buy a pot of paint.
The situation in the UK now looks to be becoming a farce, the government have admitted it's figures for those who have died of the virus only include those that died in a hospital, and even then the numbers are 11 days old as that's how long it takes to produce a death certificate at the moment doh then you have the police going to shops telling them they can't sell the Easter eggs they have in stock as they're not essential items whilst commuters continue to pack into underground trains like sardines in a can doh
Yes, England is slightly behind Italy and Spain, but will catch up.... Thamk heavens we dont have public transport here, and very low population density. Apart from the expensive places like Sydney and Melbourne, which are full of foreigners.
