Four Haiku's

Icy is the breeze
as it flows over the Tundra
making big snow drifts

Cheeky monkey waits
until your back is turned
then steals all your fruit

Golden ray of sun
blazing paths full of sunlight
warms as it touches

Rain teeming downward
flooding the marshy grasslands
beware the bog lands

Music Abounds (sonnet)

Listen now carefully, what do you hear?
sounds abound as you tune in to listen
universe of noise fills the stratosphere
birds singing, rustling leaves in transition

Blades of grass crackle sounding like gun fire
the trickle of the brook harmonious
I settle down by the roaring campfire
drinking in the sounds most melodious

As magically they blend together
creating music so soulful to hear
playing perfectly keeping in meter
in the background reed pipes clamour come here

Music around us abounds all the time
listen to it play enjoy the downtime

Autumn Breath

I wander down the forest trails
the farmer collecting the last bales
golden brown they shine in the sun
the whirr of wings as birds escape the guns

The various gleaming colours of leaves
as spiraling down they twist and turn
the fields stripped of their crops
now lay farrow until next spring

Some light snow at foot of trees sparkles
pristine and lovely against the Autumn browns
sullen yet glowing the grey skies attract me
as I stroll on down to the bubbling brook

Flashes of brilliance as the kingfisher passes
he hovers above a post then alights to fish
a silver shadow comes in sight, he watches
then in a blur he dives and catches a fish

Now all that's left behind are ripples
spreading out in perfect cylindrical rings
watching them fade away as the water stills
becoming once more a mirror reflecting the azure skies

A massive pile of logs with scarlet toadstools scattered
the croak of a spotted frog as he takes a dive
yellow hammer is drilling away in the canopy
where verdant greens mix with red cedar leaves

The wonders awaiting at each step quite take my breath
a sly red fox disappearing through the emerald grasses
a roar and a crash of antlers as the fallow deer stags fight
their white spots shining as they spar back and forth

All this and birds singing with the pure joy of living
the rustles that abound all around me as I listen
the glorious golds, reds and browns surround me
as I stand in a clearing drinking all the beauty in

Such Small Wonders

Such small wonders this autumn yields...
watch the squirrel busily collecting nuts
stashing them away for winter's depths
let's hope he remembers where they are

The apple trees heavily laden, branches sag
ponies happily munching at the wind falls
tractors hard at work bringing in the crops
piling it up in the barns, ready for winter

Lazy smoke drifting from the chimney pots
carrying heavenly smells of roasting meats
cattle lowing, announcing it is milking time
I drink it all in and feel very happy to be alive

Wind Snow Seagull

Wind howling forlorn
thundering through the tree tops
branches crashing down

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Snow swirling, whirling
coating all in pristine white
like diamonds glinting

Hear the lonely shrieks
as seagulls twist and hover
over the fishing boats

Reality Check...

Embedded image from another site

Sleep eludes me
this spirit night
I ponder
nature of reality...

I stare at my ceiling
how do I know
my ceiling is not
really a floor...

Maybe the full moon
is really purple
perhaps I am
color blind...

As a poet
words make
my world real
words is what

my world is made of
I will make it
whatever I wish...

Maybe If I try
hard enough
at breakfast
to bend my fork
with pure will
shift my reality...

The nature
of reality
is hidden..

After all
I only have
five senses

Maybe six
all I know
since I found
love

I am not
who I was
before

and never will be...

Untitled

Stars glisten,a shining reflection.
Upon the rippling waters edge,a rippled conception.
Softly murmured words, carried upon wispy winds.
No start,no end, coming from no where, yet all things near.
Close your eyes,to the moonlit skies, listen to that glistening reflection.
Listen to the breeze, the words it carries, throughout the softly swaying trees.
Birds singing, tweeting sweetly softly, like the music of the breeze.
Just a moment of time,a moment of life, happening as you slowly breathe.
Focus now upon the non uttered words.
That music playing yet unheard.
Feel yourself become one in and of the same.
Cast away conscience, strip away from flesh bound fate.
Feel the energy consume you, groom you.
Bring you to a higher state.
Drift in time, get lost in rhyme.
Pure poetry as a fact of state of mind.

Haiku

Field of daffodils
brazen yellow, sun kissed
petals, brightly greet

The dawn of the day
magically the sun rises
flooding with colour

Gently the stems quake
as caught by the breeze they shake
quiver in its wake

Matching yellow bird
soars over the display of beauty
adding its sweet notes

A vision of bliss
such a simple little thing
the joy of nature

Turbulence

water chopped
into little pieces
appears solid
thrown on water
in normal state
pieces roll over
refuse to unite
with its source
for a while
finally gives in
forming a trough
of wave
which spreads out
until lost
then dies
leaving
calm stillness
