A cave and the unlikely society

Beneath the shelter of the trees hides a cave that lies in the shade.
From the outside, it seems like a place where darkness never fades.
My plight of fear is wounded by the curiosity’s might.
I venture in with a needless care as if something in there issued me a dare.

The cave is dark like night with lots of things to be seen with light.
From the flames of a torch I could see bats and plants hanging on wall.
At my feet, scurrying on the floor are creatures big and small.
In the life without light, their incessant labors can be seen.

A society divided by a hierarchy where the bottom thrives in a pile of humus.
Ironically, there is no fuss, no resentment of place or any disgust.
They looked beyond individuality and choose unity.
Why couldn’t my world be like this?

The murder of trees

The axe whacks,
The saw cuts,
The trees bleed green blood,
The "Timber!" call,
Trees fall,
The earth sings the saddest song,
The ground feels the dying roots,
When will we see the awful truth,
Corporations make a dollar or two,
Deforestation is killing the world...

flowers

Like a pretty ghost you tempt with fragrence, while lurking in dreamy shadows of vivid colors. Your nector draws bees on intrepid wing, seeking redemption from the long winters nap. You simbolize spring with brilliance of allureing beauty.

~~ Take Away a Breath~~

I take a breath and within the wind it is so still~
Finding myself is not always so easy
Winterland has taken its toll as it's been way to cold~
In hopes for another season to come
It is being the wind beneath my mind to think what's
To come of tomorrow
Yesterday was just another day~ todays may seem long
Months from now could be very warm
However, it is what my heart is something to share if
~~It is of another desire~~
Heart full of wind
Breathless~

Beautiful sunset warms heart
Orange leaves turn brown

A Sunday to Remember

Wandering souls wearing itchy feet
Early on a Sunday 'morn what a feat
Down the highway, round the bend
Houses lining dusty road seems no end
Further afield into the forest deep
Driving slowly on roads a-curvy
Like a snake, winding along graveled road
Soaking in never ending glades so broad

Suddenly a creek so beautiful looms in view
Places and moments like these few
Eyes feasted; as brake made such a screech
Joining campers wallowing in sublime bliss
Of Mother Nature's lush and lavish gifts
Not a minute wasted, they are charmed
By the water's song, hard to resist
They followed where it wants to lead!

Down a quiet pool, spent time, meditate
Tapestry woven above only nature can create
Fresh leaves on fragile twigs and branches long
In sync with a verdant velvety carpet down below
Coming together, touching each other ever gracefully
Casting shadows onto coolish still waters
Dancing, bouncing, swaying like ballerinas
Yet serene, this place; Serene it seems!

Up ahead a log lay across the gentle stream
Foot bridge to reach other side, don't dream
Ever inquisitive, this little child within
Off she went away hoping to get a glimpse
Of the beauty waiting across the water to be seen
Stopped on her path, eyes on camera screen
Freezing this beauty for a lifetime to be seen
But the ground moved; and slithered it seemed!

It's a ssssssnnnnaaakkke! The word flashed in her brain!
Though hard-wired to either fight or flee
Yet this time feet locked-in; frozen they seem
An auto-survival strategy God's gift to us peeps
Here she felt a whole life-time flashed
Before a scream and a shriek broke the silence around
Her brain hopelessly ordering her able hands
"Take that photo you silly b*t*h" but her hands too froze in time!

Another step taken, her foot would have landed
Mid-body of what was thought a fat brown snake
Lunch soon served under a canopy of giant trees
Whew! What a way to work an appetite she thought!
Behind them, the creek her sweet symphony she plays
Heard across the verdant meadow by a few campers
Basking in the warmth of the sun's afternoon kiss!
In this beauté of a place named Boulder Creek!

About this poem:
We have snakes where I came from but have not seen or been anywhere near a snake outside a zoo...I'm scared of them! But I was even more scared when I described to my husband what I saw. It looks like I stood an inch away from a Death Adder...He said I'm a very lucky girl...I have since reminded myself that I am no longer in NZ where I use to roam around the forest on my own without fear (no snakes in NZ - except the occassional two legged species that comes out after swigging far to many bottles in one day ;-D

NB: I just want to take your attention to that line: "take that photo...... silly b*t*h". I didn't really say that.... First I try not to swear... I'm not perfect though... But it's not part of my repertoire ... Second I would not start calling myself silly coz I don't want everyone else following... It just sounded better that way.... Thanks guys...just couldn't let you start thinking I'm a swearing cursing old trout ;-)

Clouds (A Tanka)

fleecy grey white clouds
like giant grains of popcorn
edged with wisps of mist
in a clear azure blue sky
glowing in brilliant sunshine

About this poem:
When selecting a poetry style, some of you may have noticed "Tanka" listed alongside "Haiku/Senryu/".
A Tanka is another short form of Japanese poem, consisting of five lines.
The first and the third lines contain 5 syllables, and the others, 7 syllables.
The full layout is:
Line one(1) - 5 syllables
Line two(2) - 7 syllables
Line three(3) - 5 syllables
Line four(4) - 7 syllables
Line five(5) - 7 syllables

It allows you more words than the traditional haiku in which to express your poem.
Some of you may want to try it.

Tropical Depression

The wind was strong last night
when I came to bed...
And the thought of surf
in the harbour
wouldn't leave my head...
so I knelt and prayed...
for the tropical depression
to bring to our waters
some good decent surf
I woke up this morning
with your kiss on my forehead
I noticed as you left
wind had died down
no chance for a surf
Even now as I write this...
It is so calm ...
It feels absurd
Then Easter flashed
thru my mind...
And somewhere in the distance
Agnes Waters visited my head
I hope you'll take the chance.
Dip your hands into your bucket list
pick one that you can tick
To give your loving heart and soul
that much needed push and lift

Infinite Creation

Embedded image from another site

As the dawn of time became forever
I kissed the lips of thy mornings golden sun
Then I said hello to everything beyond the cosmic horizon
Surfing waves of gravity upon stellar winds imagination
I question everything along the way beyond the edge of infinite creation
From ancient astronauts and Holy Gods of antiquity
Butterflies with cosmic wings afloat in staggering immensity
As my shadow hovered the surfaces of silent silver moons
Deep into the Virgo super clusters of wondrous stars in bloom
Across frozen shores of planets still awaiting new life to be born
Bringing hope to new frontiers and its existence to explore
At the threshold of contemplating an observational universe
Orbiting my thoughts of scientific truth within a multiverse
Am I capable to understand extraterrestrial or eternal life
To accept a single cell can evolve into such intelligent designs
Forever was and forever will be the path to dynasties without an end
If my God in heaven is infinite than why consider His creations any less
