Summer’s End

Softly the end of summer nights will sing
A calling on the wind that crickets bring
For all that still keeps my heart lamenting
Now soon even the songbirds will not sing

For deep into the valley does the stream flow
Into gurgling brook drifts the leaves that fall
When busy days of life begin to slow
Then such a sudden breeze will bring a squall

Stormy clouds drifting by with anxious rush
Past lazy sun that rises less and less
So when the ever growing night will hush
That first killing frost anyone will guess

For short is the season was summer best
Now as autumn winds blow north by northwest

Sands Of Time

Grains of sand
trickling down
the narrow crystal neck
of the hourglass

Each grain a measure
of that mysterious entity
called Time
The grains above
hold the future
The grains below
store the past
The moving grains
capture the present

At the hour's sunrise
your flow begins
At the hour's sunset
it ends

Farm Life at Dawn

As dawn starts to streak across the sky
heralding in the new born day
feisty rooster already perched on the wall
giving forth with all his might, he crows

Sleepy hens, ducks and geese scat for worms
low moos emitting from the milking parlour
mingling with the sucking sounds of machines
as they gather the rich creamy milk in containers

Banging of impatient hooves from the shire horses
hungry for their grain, tossing heads and stamping
loud neighs and whinnies fill the early dawn, soon
they will be at work ploughing and farrowing fields

Farmhouse door opens smell of eggs and bacon wafting
farmer's wife emerges carrying pails heavy with slops
as she nears the pigsty the grunts and squeals grow
barging, pushing as they search for tasty scraps

A caterwaul of noise from the rookery deafening
as they wheel and spin around the yard thieving
slowly as the animals return to the sweet meadows
life settles back to normal, until tomorrows dawn

"Blankets of white."

How do you say goodbye to fallen leaves?
Bare branches, trees pull up their sleeves.
Icy white frozen tears which heaven weeps.
Coldness wakes while warmth sleeps
This season is not a bore
Of all seasons, this one I truly adore.
No silence in the air as a cold wind roar.
Bugle signals “Declaration of war”
Marching upon a winter battle field and commence “snowball fight”
Miles be the stock pile of ammunition everywhere snuggled under blankets of white.

The bear sleeps

The armstice is signed
for the war within,
no axe to grind
no battle to win.
The fresh autumn breeze
tries to say,
leave the fighting
for another day.
A needy brood
is now what matters,
their mouths are open
their bellies are fatter.
As the winter wind blows
it's time to take stock,
am I the earthquake?
or the mighty rock?.
With a family calling
I must lead the way
and so the bear sleeps
to live another day.

>>>>>> What Is In the Earth>>>>>>>

Be still my friend the time has come and went....

Life is short and rocks are hard >>>>>>

The wind blows and the trees move fast...

Is the ocean clear as the sun is bright>>>>>

The day is still the night is calm...

Windmills blowing and rain drops pittering fast>>>

Life is always full of motion....

Just another day as the earth has just turned to another day>>

Night Waits On The Prairie

Seconds wait on a clock awakening
Some hours will end before my night is done
Working, thinking, just making a living
Rest only comes with my mind on the run

Faraway coyotes howling their jive
Rest does not come as slow moon arises
Waiting, watching, trying to stay alive
Care only takes what caution surmises

A cry in the wild followed by silence
Hungry predatious eyes gleam in the night
Resting, sleeping, now safely in my trance
Time is quiescence 'till day comes to light

Everything is moving and staying still
A newborn calf a'tasting nimble will

Message from the Rain ...

What is said by the rain on the earth?

The rain said that there must be dry on the end.
Its was telling us about the wound at each point of the water. Hard hit by the earth's crust.

Its likes to sing about new season of prayer and mantra.
The rain recited the solemn verses lifted up.

A variety of styles. Layered message.
But, for me the rain had one mission: TO REMOVE THE TRACES ... !

About this poem:
That something about it is problematic, which we call its meaning.
That this meaning does not lie in it but outside it.

country feeling

Walkin down that dusty road
Farmin country all around
Air as fresh as it could be
Anywhere to be found
Distance dressed by fields of green
Bordered by the hills embrace
Polka dotted farmhouses
Lay woven in there space
The smells of earth do abound
From near an afar
Amidst colours of the wildflowers
An the rumble of the odd car
Away i am in another world
Where time idles in the breeze
Left all my troubles behind
Put my life on freeze
Packed my swag an grabbed my dog
An kicked some dirt along the way
Sung the song of bird
To put reality in the day
Stopping here an stopping there
Never knowing why
Just doing it cause i could
In wonderment i sigh
