Hanging on the Edge

Falling shale I climb
Skip across its surface
Like a stone skipped
Across the water
Time becomes my purpose
Such will free me
From my ancient past
Smooth my sharpened edges
I cling to life at last
Like a tree to the ledges
Above the mighty roll
Of a sea full of strife
And all that life alleges
What was lost or stole

simple like water

I wish I was simple
but I am like water
I can be clear or cloudy
calm or to rowdy

I can be cool
but like to get hot
gentle as rain
but turn into a squall

soft as the snow
or rolled into a ball
I can be salient
or made to steam
be real cloudy or clear

be swift or serene
be loud and powerful
silent and magnificent as a glacier
Deeper than Mariana
and reach the top of the Himalayas

Giving and cleansing
Simple and pure
fast or slow
but I know for sure
I always get where I want to go

A Lavender Sky

Casting light on shortest day my sunrise
Creeping over the top of distant hills
Marvel glowing bands of lavender skies
Quiets the lonesome night and bitter chills

Slowly, drifting, swirling clouds that appear
Their dark, bulging centers bearing more snow
Soft snowflakes fall tumbling down and adhere
Covering and hiding features below

Tell me where the soft gurgling brook went
Its sounds cannot be heard in the valley
Just the hush of dampening snows’ descent
Such long weeks before winter’s finale

Casting eyes upon the first morning light
Lavender skies….such a beautiful sight

The Mystery Of SELF

In Silence
I sit and Ponder
The Mystery Of SELF
in this vast mysterious universe
What Am I?
What is anyone?
I Exist
at least I believe I exist
I see the world through my eyes
But what are my eyes?
Are they just the product
of the history of my life?
Are the eyes of others
just products of
the history of their lives?
What Am I?
What is anyone?

Endlessly

Pillows of white drift by
Endlessly
As far as the eye can see
Slowly turning into a blanket
As if woven together
Strand by strand
Creating an ocean of cloud
Rolling
As if waves
But smooth
Like big ocean seas
On a windless day
Rising and falling
Rolling and rolling
And as we descend
Through the thick blanket
I realise I have never witnessed
Such an amazing site
And possibly never will
For a clouds shape
Is always unique
And forever changes
With the hands of time
And the forces of nature.........

Cutting Flowers

Beautiful, there,
to take indoors

as one treads the floor

A pleasure for now
yet
upon their stem
they grow as the perfect gem

gather not one
yet lay me here

let me feel such light
with colours around

smelling
seeing all
the beauty

no crouching blight

The warmth of season

cocoon me
mine is

my only reason

feeling air
feeling warmth
smelling sweetness

of here I do
Caress

A cap you say ?

I stumbled across a bay today
Hidden but not that far away
A mirrored tide lapped its shore
Upon cockle and shells galore
Children frolicked within its charm
Sending ripples amidst the calm
Pohutukawa's loomed with shade
While foreshore owners had it made
For not far out a little way
A Frenchman's cap was on display
Carved out of rock and ancient time
Low tide vision it was sublime
Thirty metres high or maybe more
A pinnacle of nature to adore
Gracing the bay with all it's might
Matakatia a welcoming sight.........

my home

eastern washington, water of plenty where the columbia flowes, yet not a maney tree congreate. Lakes and marshes full of bird song. Canyons ingraved in basalt cliffs with rolling hills sweeping the land. Earth of clay and sand where the wild flowers bloom. Sweeping winds the tumble weeds do ride amoungunst the sage progeney. Where the rattle snake lives and the mule dear play and the muskrat swims,in the depth of night a lowley cyote howels.

Baby It's Cold Outside

It's getting real cold out there
Not a good place to be if you don't have a lot of hair
How do the wild animals do it?
Hanging out all the time outside in this s#$%!
I don't mind anything above 20 degree farenheit
Anything below that starts to hurt like a lonely night
That wind just hits you in the face
Feels like a thousand knives all over the place
I know where I live I have to put up with it
It is Wisconsin after all
We're way up here where it's better to walk in a mall
Outside you could get frostbite
If you don't bundle up real tight
Inside where it's warm is where I want to hide
Cause baby it's cold outside!

echo locate

Blind too the world
The high pitched sound
Echo locate
These creature of the night
Flying solo they locate their prey
Big ears they have

For they cannot see
Batmen they are not
Hanging from the tree
In darkness attracts

The sollitude
They hide shy creatures of the night
The perfect world to hang as a bat
