BELONGING.....

When I compare, home to here
It's a skyline, I remember clear
UK's grey, not a clear blue sky
Australia-New Zealand's, both wide 'n' high

Open and blue, takes breath away
Ask of differences, and I'll say
We have dreary, on mid-winter-days
Yet thinking of homelands, I see only grey

On one front, something wins hands down
The coast and it's seagulls, I'll never frown
With fresh salty calls, something I miss
Sting of salt on skin, as lips it'll kiss

Lifeboats to pebbles, seaweed too
Hustle-bustle, with smell leaving clue
People and laughter, roar of the sea
Deckchairs and colour, eyes will see

Down-under beaches, at peace if compared
No day trippers or coaches, and never a fair
One thing you learn, you have to cope
Family-friends left behind, not lost you hope

Bonds can be broken, once you had
Dreams shared, can make you sad
Contacts made fade, new life made
New country-foundations, gradually laid

Comes a time, when on feet stand
Memories in both, people and far land
Belonging to neither, you must let go
Seeds grew, those ones you did sow

Time can heal, can also bring loss
Memories to the wind, you may toss
Yet the stirring inside, will never die
Gradually settled, and no longer cry

About this poem:
As we age, we seem to have feet in two homelands.....and anyone who has relocated, understands the difficulties.......as well as obvious benefits......

Warming Up

she gives her hands to the fire
a slow entwining of fingers and flame
so almost real
confounds the eye
lids flicker
mind's eye licked open
by images that flex and leap
around the hearth crouch memories
who've come in from the cold

About this poem:
Inspired by the flames...:-)
I decided to omit punctuation this time, as I noticed that so doing sometimes makes the boundaries between one sentence and the next seem ambiguous, as though the sentences are lapping at each other, like flames. Although, the fact that I have to explain that probably means it's a bit of a nonsense idea!

What is old?

What is old?

She still sings songs of a young heart and soul,
What is old?
Is it when you stop searching for love?
Is it when you stop wishing on the stars above?
She's still a warm flame in the winter cold,
What is old?

She still wants to dance around the room
She still wants to steal a kiss under the moon
And she still wants someone to love and to hold,
What is old?

She still believes In fairy tales told
She still searches for the heart of gold
Her heart is still young and brave and bold,
She lives on life's center stage.
She sings songs of a young heart and soul
She laughs about her age,
And says what is old?

Simple Treasure

I chased Fireflies in the night skies.
I chased butterflies in the morning sunrise.
When I was a child, I picked the flowers wild.
The pleasure I'd find,in the treasure of a dandelion
I made a chain of clover, and played Red Rover,
and Hide and Seek,
With Angel dust on my cheek,
when Coke was a dime.
Those childhood memories stay in my mind.
I always smiled when I was a child.
With pleasure at the wild flowers I'd find.
And the simple treasure of a dandelion

Orginal Me

There are no duplicates for the eyes to see,
There is only one original me.

It takes a lifetime, to become who I am.
It takes smiles and tears, ups and downs,
I have walked through my share of fears,
I climbed the mountains, and stood in the fields.
Never are two stars alike,
I have played in the sun and danced in the moonlight.

I have had my share of love and my share of heartaches,
I have had my triumph's and I have made my mistakes.
There are no duplicates for the eyes to see.
There is only one original me.

I'm not perfect I have my flaws.
There are times,
I'd like to fast forward or pause.
I'd hold on to love and run from heartaches.
Sometime I would drive with fury,
Sometime I'd put on my brakes.

But in life there are no double takes.
There are no duplicates for the eyes to see.
There is only one original me.

Chuck E Cheese

It's time for Chucky's Happy Dance!
This is the dance I do whenever I feel happy
And when I don't feel so happy
All I have to do is my happy dance and then I feel happy!
You guys want to dance with me?
Great!
It's really easy
Just follow me
Put your hands in the air as you jump up and down
Then you bop side to side
Then you turn around
Then give yourself a high five
Just give yourself a high five
Then you step really high and stomp your feet on the ground
Then you wiggle like a worm
Wiggle all over town
We do the happy dance for whoever it pleases
And everyone is happy when they go to Chuck E Cheeses now

About this poem:
I have been going to all the area Chuck E Cheese. I am going to Davenport, Iowa today. I have been to Madison, Janesville, and Onalaska, Wisconsin so far. Hardly any kids do this dancing with Chucky, most are playing video games or eating. I am trying to get to them before they pull out their animatronics. The one in Janesville just has Chucky, and the other ones have a chicken, a purple munch, and an Italian guy drumming. Chuck E Cheese is celebrating 40 years this year.

MEMORY CLING.

Summer afternoon, scenery surrounds
Sunshine highlights, nature's sounds
Air stirred by breeze, waves trees
Feeling of happiness, one feels free

No normal chores, a day to relax
Picnic not troubles, carefully packed
Laughter escapes, floats on air
Children playing, joy's they share

Stream meanders, breaks scene
Open spaces, glistening green
From blue sky above, sun shines
Reminds us, of this special time

Enjoy every moment, of life
Know sadness, brings strife
Summer must fade, air cools
Memories remain, winter calls

Life can't be guaranteed, we must
Grasp every moment, hope 'n trust
Happiness a gift, we shelter within
Memories so special, we can cling

nu's challenge

If I could change the seasons or the colours of the world.
I would use that power to light your way, and watch your road unfurl.
If I changed direction of the hands upon the clock,
I would let them spin us back in time and at our meeting they would stop.
I'd change the words I said that day to truth instead of lies.
I'd tell you that I love and loved what I see in your eyes.
and if i had that chance again to hold you on that day.
Id never let you go again and watch you walk away.
And that would change my future sky's to blue instead of grey.

Hurting

I feel so alone
My heart has turned to stone
I’m so cold
I can’t get warm
My eyes are glazed
All the tears I’ve shed
I sometimes feel so dead
My head hurts
My lips move
Never making a sound
As I fall to the ground
I ask myself what can I do
As I sit here feeling blue
My heart is broke
Everything has come undone
I can no longer see the sun
All I see is darkness
