Another year

Another year of starving mouths
With not enough to eat
Another year in tatty clothes
And nothing on their feet

Another year of homelessness
And deaths upon our streets
Another year of promises
Our leaders failed to keep

Another year of losses
Of our friends and family
Another year of knowing
Even gone, they're still with me

Another year, we watched it pass
With memories good and bad
Another year with debts and bills
And also fun we had

Another year we're glad is gone
A new one starts today
Another year with promise
Let's all try enjoy each day

My Ship Ain't Come In Yet

The year's that have passed hold fond memories, adventure, joy, and heartache
But my ship ain't come in yet, and of this gift of life I'm going too fully partake

Season's have come and gone, like mirages, leaving nary a solitary clue
But my ship ain't come in yet, and there's plenty of thing's left that I need to do

All night the wind blew, gusting, it shook my house on it's frame
But my ship ain't come in yet, and no two day's are ever the same

Shades of gray streak my hair, when the weather changes my joints often ache
But my ship ain't come in yet, and I'm confident my life is still mine too make

My dog Sam, his ship docked yesterday, and believe me it was almighty hard
But my ship ain't come in yet, and I buried him in his favorite spot in the backyard

Its been a voyage of life I've enjoyed too the fullest, I'd surely take it once more
But my ship ain't come in yet, and until it does I'll carry on, just as before.

I see the currents of time marching swiftly, like waves pushed by a mighty wind
But my ship ain't come in yet, and I'm anxious too see places I've never been

About this poem:
This is another poem inspired by my Uncle, even up until his death he often spoke of approaching death as a ship.
Although he never spoke of it others in the family hinted that memories of a voyage aboard a slave ship was at it's
root. I only know that he could not read nor write, was of undetermined age, and was one of the most amazing, unusual, and influential people I've ever known.

___Make It One Day____

Everyday is the same
There's no change, there's no joy
I feel weak, I feel tired
I'm depressed, I'm alone
All these thoughts in my head
f*ck, it's all a big mess
Let's move on and forget
All I need is some rest

I feel lost, I feel trapped
Nothing's real, all is fake
When your mind's playing tricks
And it's all just a game
I will never give up
I will not run away
I'll be strong, I will stay
I will make it one day

I will make it one day

Ah nature
take my lonely hands
let rains wash away spots of past
let breeze touches my skin
**
Ah nature
let butterflies cuddle my heart
take me away from false colors of this world
take me to the land of honesty
**
Ah nature
take me to the world of peace
let me be a part of grandma's tales
hug my emotions
**
Ah nature
remove my tears
calm my soul
i wish to be a soulless statue
Ah nature

RENDERED SPEECHLESS

Lying out on Pensacola Beach under scorching rays
while engrossed in TK101 Rock my mind strays
As I lie sweating profusely burning sand covers me
some found my eyes negating opening them to see

Startled I quickly raise up to rid sticky body of the grit
I wipe my stinging eyes managing to open them a bit
After focusing I see this Goddess starring down at me
her resplendence far greater than any desired fantasy

I then heard "I'm so sorry" in the sexiest possible voice
"Can you ever forgive me" like that was even a choice
I'm struggling to process this Venus of genuine mystique
brain's screaming respond but I'm too stupefied to speak

Again saying I'm so sorry as she's turns to walk away
she glanced back and winked saying "see you someday"
If we cross paths again words won't be so hard to find
I'm certain visions of she will never escape my mind

When I lay back down thoughts run rampant in my head
F.Y.I... I did get to see her later that evening while in bed

JUST SAYING III

The whole truth is rarely heard
gullible folks believe every word
The liar you can't believe a bit
without even trying we forget

The guilty must tread lightly
mostly deaf hear slightly
The eternal flame remains lit
What happens is 'shit'

The smart gets branded a nerd
liberal left truly depicts absurd
The precarious aren't so sure
grown-up doesn't define mature

SOMEONE SPECIAL

We need someone special to teach us survive,
The art of compassion, endurance and strife,
With kindness of heart and forgiveness in eyes,
We need someone special, could you be the one?

We need someone special right here by our side,
In life’s troubled waters there’s nowhere to hide,
This path is unbroken, this sky’s overcast,
This moon looks so dismal, sun’s not on our side.

We need someone special, seems not much to ask,
I guess there are many who play seek and find,
I guess there are legions of people like us
Just hosts of nice people so lonely at heart.

We need someone special, could you be the one?
Cast off all such doubts as distance and clime,
What if it’ll be better if love’s our guide?!
What matters in real is life – yours and mine.

About this poem:
My kind friend's message set me thinking about how long this seek and find can last. Call it a dead end, stalemate, what not, with no way out, and all roads to wherever we aspire blocked as if by the evil magician.

Time

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock.
Back and forth goes the clock.
Eyes searching for a face.
Memorized numbers in their place.
Round and round goes the hands.
No beginning no end.
Once was calculated by just mere sand.
Passing through an hour glass.
Times so precious not to be lost.
Passing through ones life,
like a breeze flowing through air.
Can't grasp it, hold onto it, it's not there.
By the time I say it is one thirty-five.
It is gone, on it's way towards another day.
