The Circle of Life

When I was just a Child
Wind blew Me the Wrong Way
I lost My Direction
It sent Me out to Bay
So I decided to follow the Sun
First to the east, then to the west
Back where I began, wasn't much fun
I followed My Heart and found Love
Getting older Year by Year
At last I was Flying like a Dove
I Was Married with Children
Now a Grandfather, They are doing so well
Children grown and Wife has gone away
As many more Years pass by
I feel I am back where I began
Stranded, right back out at Bay
Never knowing what Tomorrow will bring
Trying to keep up my cheer
I try to Laugh, Dance, Pray, and Sing
Every Day and Every Year

About this poem:
Life just seems to be an endless circle
Never knowing from day to day
I've been Reading in Poetry
So I decided to write another one
My first one in a few Years

When

When I turn off the light
the pillow next to me
crying with your scent.
I hug her tightly
to feel
to remember
to live
when the next black night
takes your smile
leaving only
a trace of your lips
imprinted on my skin.

A walk after the rain

After rain
birds - suicides
flow straight
under the wheels of cars
After rain
green trees
are
greener
and the smell of grass
breaks in
in the nostrils.
After rain
comes first
silence
after a while
sing
various sonatas.
After rain
I'm walking in the ocean
greenery
stroking feet
the remains of drops.

Rain

I sank my face
in heavy rain
seeking relief.
I thought it would be easier
when will wash away my desires
I wanted to wash my longing
remove all defeats
forget the past
quench my sorrows.
I washed my hair with streams
to be a more greener
and dried them with the wind
blowing from the sea.
I took rain drops
in the vessel of my hands
and I watered my lips
let water protect them.
And for a moment I forgot
about all my life
listening to rain drops
washing my body secretly.

Bonfire

A bush burning in the summer heat
A mind replenishes and repeats
How splendid those colors struck
Against the steel blue sky
And here I am leaning against time
Trying to support myself again
Standing up straight for the world
Let us all observe and welcome peace
Truly love today and our future will
Be kind and furnish much warmth
To make it part of our everyday
Seek not less than we're worth
Standing together close today
No love should exist so unbridled
To be free and wild with the wind
To float amongst the clouds so white
Fuels our energy with such delight
Rising and falling with the darkness
A burning bush lighting up the night
We laugh and marvel with all our might
And drink and be merry to great delight
Weaving and wobbling our way home

Vanishing

I dance with the wind
like a broken leaf
swirling in gusts of joy.
Indian summer turns
a thin thread,
and autumn comes to my heart.
Color palette,
fog in the meadows at
dawn in the morning
and nostalgia and some regrets
that time passes
that I will not stay

Irish People

Thanks George Carlin
I still listen to your jokes
Since I discovered you in 1992 with the comedy album
Jammin In New York
Thank you Michael Moore
You spoke of issues through your movies
Issues like job loss, murder in the U.S.A, 9/ll, and health care
I appreciate you U2
You inspire through your music with songs like
One, Where The Streets Have No Name, With Or Without You, and Vertigo
You're awesome Cranberries
I love Zombie, Dreams, and Linger
You're funny Dennis Leary
With your songs like the A#$%^&@ Song
And Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up
You're devilishly funny Leprechaun
I especially loved you in Leprechaun 3 when you went to Las Vegas
Thanks to all the Irish people who have brightened my day

November tears

November tears fall asleep
to their music,
the noise of fallen leaves,
fast twilight that steals
a ray of sunshine
dry grass
on the hills of Poloniny.
November tears flow
in lonely times
as if they wanted
to clean the world
wash away
autumn dreams from the streets,
dance the last time with the wind
and go away into oblivion.

The Man Who Never Smiled.

Come gather round the campfire mates and listen for a while,
And I'll tell you all the story of the man who never smiled.
He was somewhat of a rover, and his friends all called him John
He hailed from southern New South Wales, a place called Wollongong.

Well he finished up in Queensland where he met this bird named Jean
And together then the pair set out to do the Brisbane scene.
But within a month she left him, stony broke, without a cent
With nothing but a memory,(and a bill for two weeks rent!)

So further North, to Anakie, John chased his silver lining
On Queensland's famous sapphire fields he tried his hand at mining.
Well he made a quid at this new lurk, became a man of means
And with his new found wealth set out to find his love it seems.

Now he got as far as Rocky where he thought he'd stop a while
And took a job as fencer (just to help to pass the time.)
But alas, he didn't last long for he clocked the overseer
And it was round about this time he started on the beer.

Then his bird wrote him a letter asking him to come and get her
Up at Tully (she was with another bloke)
In the bar there at the station getting stuck into a ration
Of Bacardi. (That's the stuff they drink with Coke.)

Well she went with him to Townsville and they found a little flat
And it seemed at last that things had turned out right
But again she up and left him while he was asleep (God rest him)
Not a single word, just vanished in the night.

Now poor old John just went to pieces and got stuck into the grog
For to him (at least) it seemed his life was over.
So he boozed up day and night, they say he looked a flamin'fright
It was a miracle if ever he was sober!

Some folk said that he was "queer"while others blamed it on the beer
And it's 20 years (they say) now since he smiled
He had made and spent a fortune on a bird who had ignored him
I tell you mates, women! Just ain't worth your while.

Well I guess I'd better leave now as I've still a ways to go
Destination? I don't really know, I'm following my nose
So I guess I'll see you round mates as I've stayed here far too long
What's my name you ask? I thought you knew, it's John..from Wollongong.

About this poem:
True story. Happened long, long ago. Never got the bird and haven't had a beer in over 30 years. To this day I still have trust issues.
Probably why I'm still single! Note: The places depicted here are real but some will be unknown to some International members.

Loneliness II

Loneliness takes on a taste for me
red Sophi semi dry
tested to kill thoughts.
Loneliness,
it's a return to the apartment,
where nobody waits.
Loneliness,
It's a morning look in the mirror
where do you see the signs
passing time.
Loneliness,
is the empty bed you are going to.
Loneliness,
they are relationships that they only took
giving nothing
Loneliness,
this is the moment when you ask yourself a question
what's wrong with you
Loneliness,
it's internal pain.
Loneliness,
is a pillow in which you shed tears.
Loneliness,
is the time when you realize
that you love her
and that scares you.
