Internet Person

Through endless void of cyberspace
I see your typed out words
Never knowing your true form face
Often wondering if I'm just being absurd
by guessing who or what you really are
From what planet you're from or what distant star..

Sometimes you state you are nearby
Turns out you're in some distant place
Asking me to book an airline ride so you can really fly
Luring me in to just another endless chase
Leaving me to wonder who or what you really are
From what planet you're from or what distant star..

AN ERA

take my hand
come back in time
to jazz to blues
soul singers rhymes

take my hand
to brilliant artists
pointillism watercolors
picasso, monet, gauguin

take my hand
drink with me in smokey bars
take in louis, etta, bessie
drive with me to paris
pack up our vintage flint car

take my hand
sit at a bistro
dine on baguettes, cheese and wine
an era when life was so fine

take my hand
and bring me back
kiss me in the rain
no need for fortune or fame

take my hand
let me hear hemmingway, fitzgerald read
hold me close and take me back
to a place in time
where love was true
and laughter was devine

THE PICTURE...!

I was up in western Queensland
Just the other day
Stopped awhile for coffee
In an outback town Cafe
I was sitting contemplating
On the things that one does see
When a Codger introduced himself
Said his name was Mattie B.

I sat there for a moment
At him I quietly stared
I didn't see him come in
He just suddenly appeared
When he spoke it seemed I knew him
Like we'd been friends for many years
Then he asked if he could join me
So I pushed him out a chair

He was jovial this old Codger
With eyes that twinkled blue
A smile that seemed so permanent
When he spoke with you
His face showed signs of knowledge
Many things he'd learnt in life
I asked if he was married
Shook his head and said "no wife"

Said he worked not far away
Some miles up the track
Said he drove a big machine
He said it was a CAT.
So I ventured out to see it
I followed where he went
The road was black and dusty
So I closed the open vent

Then at last we stopped there
Beside the big Machine
'Bloody big' I told myself
Well you know what I mean
He helped me climb up on the track
Then upstairs to the door
I opened it and stepped inside
And this is what I saw

The cab was clean and tidy
A neat and comfy space
Every thing in order
Nothing out of place
Then it was I saw it
In the corner of the screen
A picture of a lady
The fairest that I've seen

Her hair was blond....looked silky
Soft brown eyes that stared
Straight into these orbs of mine
Her lips looked soft and red
Her gaze it held a question
Or so it seemed to me
Funny I should think like that
Cos' so did Mattie B.

He said he liked to have it there
T'was someone...he didn't say
He stared into the distance
Like his thoughts were far away
Then slowly we climbed down again
I stood and looked around
I saw where he'd been working
The seeded new ploughed ground

Then it was time to move along
Me to the road ahead
Mattie climbed into the cab
He smiled and shook his head
I climbed into my 4WD
Amid a mighty roar
Mattie waved a cheery wave
And shut the D9 door
So now I'm on the blacktop
My mind seems in the past
The sojourn in the coffee shop
My thoughts forever last
Things that I remember
The picture that I'd seen
Of a blond haired brown eyed lady
In the yellow CAT Machine,

Yet, So Far

Though secrets, silent, feed the pain
holding on realizes no gain
So close, yet so far
So close, yet so far
petty in this pace, we
find ourselves, twisted
dripping tears across miles
and years, weeping, careening
driving through the willows
away from poverty’s grip
into life of self sustaining

adrift into lanes of memory
while trying to steer a
course, straight and steady,
brings either smile or frown
depending on which lines crossed
whether the incline is up or down.

Sometimes the grade requires
a shift into lower gear
to slow the mind’s engine.
At others, thoughts race ahead
to find their destination, clear.

Worn-out clutch, years
of toll-paid travel, requires
experience & a knowing touch
the differential that
allows this life to
pass inspection by
mirroring happy memories
into its reflection.

“Firing on all cylinders”
purring, chest swollen
with pride, headrest
engaged for the ride.

Aging

For i said i would
never get old
no
frown lines
no
grey hair.
Just a mind that
fades in and out
from time to time.
We call it having
a senior moment.
Now you can not
steal my line
because that is
all mine.
When you see me on
the street i might
not remember your
name or where i am
from time to time.
Just pretend to do
the same.

Unsteady Floor

I sit in my chair of what I can currently call my situation,
Even as the aspect tiles all around provide no balance for creation.
A change each day places some in reach while others completely out,
Leaving me open for change even when the mysterious is stout.
My family on the other side of the floor trying to wave over,
Trying to whistle me across as they change my name to rover.
The tiles rise and fall certainly no clue when they'll stop,
Cause one false move could lead me into a nasty drop.

Revisited

Its that time of year
An the nor'westers blow
An the southerly swells
Straighten to an easterly glow
An caress the banks
Of a perfect left
An bring a joy
To those who beset
South rock juts up
With a proud face
Respect is honest
There's no disgrace
Timing has to be
So astute
No need for arrogance
Nor be cute
Amidst the sand an shell by way
Early memories they do sway

rush?

In days walking in emptiness castles
Shining and smirking about full dreams
I wish let they just once come for real

Your day are in rush
Dust is days of the rush
I listen grasshopper singing and catch fresh air

Am I really walking in emptiness castles?
But outside them are quite full
Babyblue sky and neon sun.

Carpe Diem Soulgoddess Challenge..

A New Day Dawning..
Author: QuietStormF
A New Day Dawning

My heart did flipflops in the predawn light
Filled with such a sense of calm
I knew not from whence it came
Sunlight danced majestically upon the placid lake
Stirring in me feelings I had long ago buried
Neath the rubble in my mind
As I sat transfixed, slowly sipping coffee from a steaming mug
I lazily drank in the sounds of a new day dawning
Slowly awakening from it's twilight slumber
I could not move , did not want to move
From this new place where I was bathed in such serenity
Had it really been here all the while?
As I pondered this thought, I heard a rustling in the wind
Calling to me , heeding me to seize this day
For it will never come again .
