Road to Nowhere

The road appeared different today
Perhaps it was the grey dank sky
That bled desolation
That made it look
As if misery had overtaken it

Scattered boxes, riotous revelry mementos
Lay discarded, abandoned by humanity
(Or some may say inhumanity)
And brightly coloured lids, when asked
Mostly replied, “Ham Cheese and Pineapple”

Fresh holes, those pock marked decaying scars
Seeming devoid of any compassion
What scurrying animals had left
In a flurry of desperation, but unknown to them
Would never let them escape their misery

And the trees, as if with wanton need
Had shed their belongings
Retreating, seeking another guise
As if desperation, always looked better
When barren and naked

The road looked different today
As if misery had strolled on by
And left that odour of hopelessness
Maybe I should not have walked that way
But it was my only path

Why Do I Love You..

THE FIRST TIME I SAW YOU BACK 2002
I NEVER FORGET THAT YEAR..BECOUSE
YOU TATTOO IN THE DEEPEST PART OF MY HEART.
I REMEMBER THE FIRST WORDS WHEN YOU CALLED
ME(SIR)THE WORDS THAT LEAD ME TO MEET A
WONDERFUL PERSON OF YOU,

BUT AS THE TIMES GOES BY..I WONDER WHY I DIDN'T
SEE YOU AT YOUR FAVORITE TABLE..
I ASK SOMEONE TO THOSE WHO IS CLOSE TO YOU
AND I DONT KNOW IF I CAN STAND THE WORDS
(CANCER)YOU...ARE READY TO GO ANY TIME?

WHY...YOU LET ME LOVE YOU & PUT YOU IN MY HEART.
THAT ONE DAY YOU LEAVE ME IN TEARS,,
WHY IN THIS WORLD ..YOU LET ME SMILE & LAUGH
THAT ONE DAY I CRY ALONE?
YOU ARE MY SHOULDER TO CRY ON..BUT NOW YOU;RE
GONE..YOU PLANTED IN MY HEART YOUR FACE..
YOU'RE KINDNESS...YOU TEACH ME TO BE STRONG ENOUGH
BUT I NEVER THINK THAT YOU LEAVE ME ALONE IN
THIS LONELY WORLD..WHEREVER YOU ARE NOW..
YOU SEE ME ..PLEASE ..GUIDE ME STILL..
I NEVER FORGOT YOU,,,I MISS YOU..

Last Breath

What dreams hath man on a lonely pillow
With limbs so weak and hung like limping willow
What thoughts request to live as youth regained
To once more run with the herds of Serengeti Plain

To leap like Springbok through wooded ground
For a heart that beats with a strength of sound
To see horizons with limitless glorious sight
To once more espy the eagle in its majestic flight

To hear and touch the rushing of cool waters flow
To scale the mountains in the crispness of snow
He would sail the seas without a thought or care
With salt laden breeze caressing through he’s hair

But for him these are times lost in bygone past
He fears the breath that will come as inevitable last
He would wish to drink the waters of the eternal spring
And plead for the immortality to him it could bring

But too many hopes lie broken on shattered rocks
He must leave this life to join the lost legions flocks
Gently close the eyes, the tired body would thus implore
For he shall not awake, nor run, nor dream no more

Torch of Love

For far too long I have carried this torch
Walking over hot coals, my feet sorely scorched
It flickered with the light of a star lit candle
Much more than one single heart could handle

It absorbed my life but brought little satisfaction
It always searched to find your loves reaction
It sought the beam of passionate emission
Always seeming turned off, in darkened submission

But still it glowed like a homing beacon
Just for your affection to guide your minds reason
All you had to do was press the hearts switch
But your fingers held back, resisting their twitch

If two lights could never hope to meet
Then singular love is a sorrowful lonely street
Like the memories of time it will eventually fade
Like the passing of the last old soldiers parade

For the torch of love cannot forever stay bright?
When the batteries of life fail in their sight

Thoughts of Romance

Romance is
a shy glance returned in kind
a note of love read with hungry mind
a trusting hand reaching out
a knowing smile with no doubt
a touch that makes you smile
a smile that makes your life worthwhile
a poem said from one of you
a lover's whisper "I love you"
a scenic walk along hand in hand
a beach with clear pure white sand
a gentle breeze through your hair
a shared laugh and longing stare
a sandcastle made by two
a searching look that beckons you
a sunset watched with patient view
a quiet phrase for only you
a word unspoken but still understood
a squeezed hand that feels so good
a thought of them and not you
a dim lit table just for two
a garden walk with hands entwined
a perfect night when you dined
a tender word that touched your heart
a lonely place when you're apart
a picture that etches in your brain
a pleaseing picture to sustain
a caressing hand in your hair
a note with flowers that lovers share
a special song meaning more
a kind of feeling you are living for
a racing heart when you're near
a happy thought and glimpse of tear
a private thought and maybe more
a sad look that you can not ignore
a skipped heartbeat until you know
a secret to you they must bestow
a pensive question and anxious stare
a relieved mind when you "don't care"
a honest word bereft of claim
a warmth when they say your name
a look allowed into your very soul
a memory that surpassed your goal
a gentle caress that means so much
a gaze that meets anothers such
a tender embrace with caring hands
a sharing of thoughts without demands
a single instance on this earth
a special moment shows its worth
a first sublime eternal kiss
a single instant that just Is

Longing

Pretty, sweet and patient as the morning sun

She smiles and laughs hiding her inner longing

As she portrays herself as needing no one

She skillfully rejects the thoughts of belonging

Her cheerful nature belies the wanting within

She needs someone to make her totaly complete

Yet hiding behind a wall of mirrors once again

The armoured walls allow her to be discrete

She needs a matching spirit tender and serene

To touch her kindly heart and make her realize

She is such a unique and prescious being

Worthy of the gaze of only true patient eyes

Languishing With Siberia

Frozen in past, this land and I lie so bleak
The wilderness of history, yet unable to speak
From the mother’s womb, both born of maternity
My life has been short, not of your eternity
Yet I can compare, for my time now lies in the past
Where age has left us with memories so vast
Cold we are, but neither chooses to be heartless
You carved in beauty, yet my palette seems artless
But as I look upon you I can see my own soul
A swirling cold emptiness with a long forgotten goal

Bitter winds sweep across lacking care and affection
Where both our futures seem devoid of direction
Are the ghosts that haunt us such differing strangers?
For in the end do we both not court our own dangers?
Barren, barren, we would cry in our bitter solitude
Yet does our richness not deserve one single platitude
Loneliness, loneliness, can ever be our only true friend
But I will pass as you continue until the final end
Siberia, Siberia, I would embrace your cold arms
For in both our histories none has grasped our charms

Neither of us blooms, we are the forgotten spiraea
I find myself continuing to languish with Siberia

About this poem:
Ah my friends, I watch so much from the outside, yet who are we to percieve poetry. You write, I write, are we so different?, I have a love so far from the maddening crowd, let me bestow you, with thoughts, of a longing, of a past love that sees itself with Siberia, the coldness, the emptyness, the heartlessnes and the lonelyness. But it has its own beauty and it certainly has its own ghosts.
Are we not but ghosts of the future, and who will recognise this ghost of one we approved and loved upon.
All I can offer you my friends is poetry, born of emotion, born of freedom but most of all born of passion. Poetry is not about metre, not the correct syllables, not precise in its manner, it is about you!! and your wants and needs, embrace me for I am poet!!. I have been missing, but to many not forgotten, may the peace of poetry be upon you all.

My ANZAC

My grandfather who art in heaven
Victor French be his name
Fought for this country like many more
Gallantly with no shame

To protect the souls an aussie goals
He always had in mind
Fallen comrades an mates
He tried not to leave behind

With gunnedah blood he did shrug
All hurdles in his way
A seargeant in the army
He led from day to day

But wars of life are not a game
For death is everywhere
Priceless pawns moved into place
To fight for what they care

History is an will always be
Of many untold stories
Brave men gone to war to set you free
Not to seek the glories

For war has no glory
As too much suffering there will be
Lives lost at such a cost
The fee to be free

For my grandfather i have said
An ANZAC through an through
Raise your glass tip your hat
A proud aussie .....True Blue

If I Could (1) ( A Trilogy)

If I could, borrow time
And return, to yesteryear
Where dormant hearts
Lie in wait
And past hopes
Lie in fallen pages
From the script of life

If I could, borrow a sage
To teach me, love
And offer up
All my dreams
Upon a silver platter
Then the written word
Cannot be meaningless

If I could, borrow the stars
For just a short time
And blend the heavens
To shape, my life
And bind it
Within the folder
Of your eternity
Then this book
Has reached an ending

If I could, return to you
Leafing back
Upon these worn
And rewritten pages
And the wise old sage
Taught me of wisdom
And to live life
One chapter
At a time

If I could, borrow more time
Where days
Become minutes
And every single second
Becomes so precious
And the fallen pages
Combine
To write the story
Of our life
So that history
Writes itself
And the future
Lies in unabated wait

If I could, rewrite my past
And tell this story
Through the eyes
Of the wise old sage
And blend all the stars
With wisdom
Then this dormant heart
Could behold the future

If I could, hold your heart
As much
As you held mine
And the heavens stalled
For just one second
And the book of our life
Reached its finality
And the last page
Would always say
“The end”

If I could
If I could
For just one second
Of time
Love you, again
And again
Then life, would be
A glorious eternity

A Child's Pain

I love to see a child cry...
When it's tears of joy pouring from their eyes...
I love to see a child die...
When it's laughter that causes the dying inside...

I love to see a child in pain...
If it's just from the loss of their new toy plane...
I love the sound of a child's screams...
When they wake up realizing it was just bad dreams....

I will cradle you with my comforting arms...
Keeping you safe from the pains and the harms...
I will wash away all your pains of the day...
No matter what you may do or may say....
