In A Blink Of An Eye

Embedded image from another site

Beneath the low muffles
Pedestrians shuffle
An average city day
Of hustle and bustle
A lovely days stroll
With no place to go
Still the worlds moving fast
But I'll remain slow
Because theres no movement
Unless I stand still
To give my heart a chance
To understand what it feels
The brilliance of designs
Engineered by our minds
And yet we lack passion
To save our own lives
Surveying the pavement
To the edge of concrete
When I became overwhelmed
By this vision I'd seen
It was for a brief moment
Yet I was surprised
When I saw her blue eyes
Staring back into mine
Butterflies came to life
It was love at first sight
Our approach became closer
And once again were her eyes
I felt a connection
Free from suggestions
Connected like dots
Lost in translation
But what I seen was a world
For this boy and that girl
Behind a white picket fence
And all this from a curb
Could she be the one
As the cat held my tongue
I brought the words to my lips
But my voice became numb
Them damn butterflies
They took me for a ride
I may be made of steel
But Im like butter inside
So without knowing her name
The light color changed
Then they all crossed the street
Moving on in their haste
She disappeared in a blur
Blending in with the world
And there I was standing
All alone on the curb
But with a smile I left
Without chance of regret
Or what if I spoke
The words my heart said
Still overjoyed with delight
It just wasn't our time
And she was gone from my life
In a blink of an eye

FRIEND

You never let me down
You're always around
Whether I'm up or down
You can always be found
You keep me in line
Even keep my time
No matter what look
Comes across my face
You always keep
Me at pace
You make me wet
From sweat
You make my heart beat fast
Sometimes your're a blast
My breathing gets heavy
My legs are on fire
I feel so tired
Aaa ,my time has expired !

Submission to perdition

I close my eyes
in submission to perdition
ripping apart every fiber of my heart
for a prize I never sought

my parents taught
when love beckons
it will be a long and bumpy road
in fears, I will succumb

beyond defiance are its schemes
it will make you bleed and even scream
it will crash mercilessly
down to the core of your limbs

you will be possessed by its charms
makes you passionate and happy at times
yet often will make you lose your strength
and shake the ground you stand on

for mighty is its test
threshing every fiber
of your weakened flesh
and in desperation, ask

"is this all you got?"

alas! in your laughter
echoing in the ferocious wind
you kneel, and in silence
you know you are doomed

inside of you, you are crushed
shred into tiny pieces
and as the seagulls
witness your disdain

they, too, know
you are really doomed..
hopeless and all alone.

your memory sustains me

like the petal of a rose hungry
for the sun's energy
and the mist that sustains
the very food of life
I am...only sated
by your touch and love
by your spirit and soul
perpetually intertwined
in my heart, in my mind
even as
you are gone
somewhere in the horizon
of nothingness
but here within me,
every second, our memory
sustains my will to live
just like the petal
which hungers in the night
but when the new dawn breaks
and the sun rises
with you in my heart
am forever energized
waiting...

~~Natural Healing~~

Alone with my Lymphoma my senses have grown,
A complete change of focus, some new seeds sown,
Mother Nature called out with magnetic support,
“Take note of my beauty and your ills I will sort”,
On a woodland walk in the country I went,
Saw a fox disappear as he picked up my scent,
Had it not been for that I may never have seen,
That beautiful rainbow through the bows so green.
I even enjoyed the mist on my face,
It put a shine on the foliage to enhance the place,
I can’t recall admiring scattered puddles before,
But these were shiny mirrors on the forest floor,
When I gaped inside to study the view,
I realised my life was turned upside down too,
Nature was helping much more than I thought,
Because of the awareness to my senses it brought,
Suddenly! the noise of a hawk in the air,
It swirled and swooped as I stood and stared,
I could only admire how he patrolled the skies,
While ultimately plotting some rodents demise,
From these simple studies I absorbed much relief,
Sights, scents, and sounds surpassing belief,
They kept me from pondering on things like my death,
When my thoughts should only have been my next breath,
Later the moon rose behind a thorny hedge,
As a trout in the river engulfed it’s final sedge,
Time to wander home now from this place that I yearn,
Tomorrow back to Nature and more lessons to learn.

About this poem:
I wrote this in 2004 when Lymphoma returned
for the 2nd time. In desperation I turned to
Nature for a cure ! I'm still here.

Ever With Me (For My Mom)

February 26, 2013
In Loving Memory of Gayle M.

Many do share this circle of sorrow...
no matter the distance, we grieve and cry.
Family gathered, if only in spirit,
paying our respects with one last good-bye.

As one by one, the memories unfold,
the measure of a life unfolds as well.
We find we’re written on many a page,
though the stories we know, and others tell.

Our losses remind us how short life is,
pulling us closer to one another.
My heart aches and breaks, for this recent loss,
was teacher, friend, and beloved Mother.

Blood of her blood am I, flesh of her flesh.
Three girls and a son thru her love were born.
Her courage and strength, an inspiration.
These things within me, but today I mourn.

I must find peace with all that is left me,
in lingering jewels of wisdom she shared.
Forgiveness brought us the sweet grace we knew,
and often we told each other we cared.

I’ll see her in all the things she so loved.
I’ll feel her presence in spiraling snow...
That’s how she came to me, saying good bye,
soon thereafter, outside of my window.

A winding gust, whirling with great purpose.
I could not ignore my heart and own eyes.
Twice she peered in through my kitchen window,
and I knew her soul through this keen disguise.

There’s no love on earth like a Mother’s love
No greater magic than a Mother’s kiss.
No stronger bond than a Mother and child,
and no one that I shall more dearly miss.

About this poem:
I wrote this piece for my mother, who passed away Feb 23, 2013, after a long battle with cancer and other complications. I consider her one of the bravest people I've ever known. She was a true warrior in her fight. I say a special prayer for all those who have had to say good-bye to their mothers. It's a sting that never goes away. Thanks for having a read.

My Love

by Linda hillier 03/12/2006

I had a love
he brought me alive
gave meaning to my life
the sun shone brighter
warming me to my soul
whenever he was near
he brought Joy into my life
we shared thoughts
across a crowded room
as for laughter
it was with us every day
lightening the mundane
we smiled to see love grow
between your daughter and my son
knowing it unlikely to last
at 6 and 9 too young
but sharing their sweet pangs
all the time we had together
was so truly blessed
loving you made me a better person
always you had a kind word
and gave folks a helping hand
I lost you far too young
it left me a devastated wreck
I now live one day at a time
knowing the last thing u wanted
is for me to mourn
my darling it is so hard
how the hell can I not grieve for you
the one who was and is my every breath
still I love you
and will love you forever and a day

sleep in peace my love my heart my soul

my previous and hopeless life

like a life shattered
in a grain of sand
splattered on jagged edges
of painful broken memories
must I have to remember
the torments of my past
uncompromising to my hopes
in my younger years?
choices that were in front of me
I dared not pick
but lived the life I thought
that was full of promises?
if mistakes were made
I am sure as hell
want to forgive
fast forward my reels
30 years in the making
I still see myself
in the same blunders
over and over again
my heart shattered
my soul broken
my spirit lifeless
my eyes shut
my tears dried out
would I ever learn?
one thing I know,
I don't ever want to
live the same me
in any dimension
ever again...

my journey

Forever entwined in pain and sorrow
With a future undefined
I won't dig further to burrow
And clutch my head under the sand

I braved some roads most downtrodden
Freed myself off some circumstance
While not too sickening a tale
Yet neither was heaven bound

And yes I'm all there is to it
To find myself up in a good roll
With all the bliss and happiness
Calm and serenity for my soul

And so oh Lord I ask of you
To guide me on this quest
A peaceful trek for my journey
And full of hope with all my strength.

And so it is for now I rest
Hoping all of you my friends
All the good things that life offers
And may you all have great happiness.

Thanks.

The single squirrel

There was a squirrel that I did see,
Spent all his time in a tiny tree,
A short shrub really,
No bigger than a bush,
Everyone that saw it, thought it
was bigger than it was,
After a time the tree was trimmed,
Till nobody lived in the tree but him,
All alone with noone to hold,
The squirrel died lonely and cold,
There's a moral to this story,
As anyone can see,
Don't spend all your time in a tiny tree...
