What Is A Successful Woman?

It's a woman who has an appreciation
Of the world around her
And of her unique place in it...
If she has energy to devote both to work
And to play....

If she has the capacity to give of herself
And to accept graciously
The gifts of others....
If she has people
She trusts and is trusted by,
People she cares about
Who care about her..
If she has a zest for life
And a feeling of kinship with all living things..
If she has the enthusiasm
To welcome each new day
With warmth
And joy
And love...
Then she is truly a successful woman.

Sweet Dreams

Sleep you tight, dear friend, night is closing on you,
Worries died with the day, chase them out of your room.
Every time you close eyes let sweet dreams you embrace,
Every time you close eyes let them enter and play
Till you’re given to sleep, till oblivion reigns.

Dreams ... in dreams you will find so much rest, so much peace,
Raging winds like regret will not shatter this shield.
Every time you close eyes don’t forget, think of me,
And of day that will be like extension of dream
Making life even brighter than happiest dream.
Sleep you tight, dear friend, wish you peace, sleep and dream.

Take a chance

Lady Lady rise above the wave
Lady Lady show me how you care

Lady Lady where have you been till now
Lady Lady eyes like blue soft sky

LIVING YOUR DAYS AS WE ALL SEEM TO DO
GOOD DAYS AN BAD, A DAY AT A TIME

Lady Lady your cheeks light up your smile
Lady Lady warm wind lift's your hair

Lady Lady golden sheen tanned skin
Lady Lady men watch you walk on by

WORKING A DAY JOB, ONLINE SCHOOL AT NIGHT
AN HELP WITH HOMEWORK OF YOUR EIGHT YEAR OLD GIRL

Lady Lady rise above the wave, Lady Lady, it's you my mind desires. Lady Lady your eyes have not seen mine, Lady Lady I'm not so bad a guy. Lady Lady if you saw me would you be....willing to take a chance, take a chance with me.

'Politicans Irish Style'

'Politicans in Ireland talk a load of Shite'

Politicans in Ireland talk a load of shite
They call to your door at election times
Promising you everything in life
You listen attentatively and give them your time
And eventually you give them your vote
They return to the Dail and start to fight
Only because they all think their right
Politicans in Ireland talk a load of shite.

Ireland,it just does'nt seem right
People are starting to worry were they right to vote
They voted Fianne Fail, who have a gall
Because they can't get it right
The taoiseacht at the time
Was busy hidding money, with his past bunny
Only to be found out
So carful were his answers
That it came to light
That Celia bought a beauty parlour
Just to look right
Politicans in Ireland talk a load of shite

The Tribunal for him won't be a win
So he may give up his fight
He has lost all his credability by acting the goat
Funny thing is, he still got your vote
Politicans in Ireland talk a load of shite

I don't like to complain but Bertie should explain
How much pain he has caused for his own gain
You had a responability to this nation
And remember have no notion
Or you would be better off taking a poison potion
Than pushing a posion pen
Politicans in Ireland talk a load of shite

We are a very forgiving Nation,Tolerable one too
So don't be worring Bertie as Mary is doing it too
Her health is not the best, neither is mine
I guess she's filling her pockets with Bertie in mind
Sure Charlie did it for years with no one in mind
So don't be worring Bertie
We all have you on our minds!
Politicans in Ireland talk a load of shite.

I Kneel

I kneel before this bed.
In which you used to lay.
My hands classped in prayer
and tears pour off my face
asking a God i have abandoned
To bring you home today.

I beg for hours hummbled in his grace.
That just this once he'll listen
And take me from this place.

I feel my heart get empty.
With every tear that falls.
As i beg of him to free me.
From the prison of these walls.

And as i drown in liquore to ease
This rechid pain.
My boys watch on with wonder .
Has daddy gone insane.

I beg one touch one kiss one sense of her embrace
And ask a God again not hearing.
Please free me from this place.

And only he can save me now i say
As i kneel before this bed
In which you used to lay.

The Scare

I got the call
Call me said Shane
The next morning I got another call
Your Dad is in the hospital
No explanation of what was wrong with him
I called the hospital to find his room number
Found him in bed and Mom waiting with him
He had a seizure
He can't drive for six months
I ate an omelet Mom made with ham and toast
I watched the Packers beat the Cowboys with Dad
It was the first meal I had eaten alone with them in years
I felt bad
Bad for all the meals I had missed because of bad words
I got some homemade salsa from them
I got a scare
But I got some time I wouldn't have had otherwise
Time with my Dad

BANISHED

SO LIKE DIG THIS, IT WAS MY BEST FRIEND ALAN'S FUERAL BUT I WAS BANNED
WELL SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU UNDERSTAND
THEY THOUGHT ME A MURDERER, AS IF I HAD TAKEN HIS LAST DAYS
THE THING THEY DIDN'T KNOW WAS ALAN AND I WERE BOTH LOST IN A MAZE

THEY LOOKED AT ME AS IF I WERE SCUM, TRASH AND DISPENSIBLE
WELL IF YOU ASK ME THEY WERE ACTING LIKE THAT BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T SENSIBLE
HAD THEY SEEN THROUGH THE CURTAIN I WASN'T THE ONE PULLING ALAN'S STRINGS
BUT DENIAL AND TRANSFERENCE ARE WHAT DEATH TOO OFTEN BRINGS

AS A MATTER OF FACT NO ONE AT ALL COULD TELL ALAN WHAT TO DO
ALAN WOULD SWALLOW A HANDFULL WHILE I JUST A FEW
THAT WAS ALAN, SO ALIVE HE THOUGHT HE'D BE ALIVE PAST ME FOR SURE
BUT NO ONE KNOWS HOW ONE WILL REACT TO A WORM ON A HOOK OR A LURE

SO THE USHERS USHERED ME OUT BY ALAN'S MOTHER'S DEMAND
AND I DIDN'T GO EASY, THEY HAD ME BY MORE THAN MY HAND
I REMEMBER HEARING THE SISTER AND OH HOW SHE CRIED
WHILST I, HIS BEST FRIEND, WEPT LOUDLY OUTSIDE

Lovers (Senryu)

walking hand in hand
lovers embrace in the rain
welcoming passion

About this poem:
Definition of Senryu

1) A Japanese poem similar in structure to haiku, but more concerned with human nature, and is often humorous or satiric -- usually in three lines of seventeen kana.

2) A foreign adaptation of 1, usually written in three lines of 17 syllables or LESS.

Again, unless you are Japanese, have been writing Japanese, or speak fluent Japanese, you will be writing definition #2.

A good structure for beginning senryu poets is:

setting
subject and action (on two lines)

OK............

i don't think i've mentioned
how lovely its been
a fullness in my life
shades of brown now green
laughter lives
where tears once lay
warmth of your touch
brightens my day
music fills the air
where silent thoughts did pervade
the questions asked
are now answers made
your intelligence shines
like the morning sun
warming my soul
defeating the glum
you blossom through my life
like the beautiful flowers you grow
and the love that you nurture
are the seeds that you sow
your friends admire
the beautiful soul you are
but it is i that desire
the shine from your star
everyone you touch
feels the love from within
every word that you write
from the heart therein
your past a deliverance
to where you are now
a strength of character
that would raise a brow
i've been so blessed
for you in my life
but it's the love you share
that shines right through
my lovely wife..........
