Poets and Coffee

Embedded image from another site

Poetry reading first thing in the morning
Goes perfectly with a nice hot cup of coffee
Nothing is more beautiful than this dark elixir
Mated with a little sugar and light cream mixer
As it swirls in your cup and revs up your cells
You begin to contemplate as if under a spell
From that bitter little bean that reins so supreme
This umber dark brew is a drug-induced dream

Reading words brought to life by your poet friends
Taking you on life’s tours like video camera lens
Imprinting indelible pictures delivered by their pens
As you read and sip savoring the words they spin
Of visions their painting from thoughts deep within

Ah, coffee, some call it cafe’, still some say Cuppa
I just call it sweetly every morning “come to mamma”
Now I’m thinking about how many poets the world over
Are sipping their brew and writing their little hearts out
Percolating on those dark alluring coffee beans no doubt
Climbing to such creative heights with deep soulful minds
Coffee and poetry are synchronistically aligned

Time for another wee cup, as some call it a “cup of Joe”
My secret blow of magical beans that sets my mind aglow
Allowing me to experience the depths my thoughts show
Of the pageantry that poetry delivers like a sinful gateau
The only thing missing in this picture is my fabulous beau
If my coffee would only help me write him into existence
How awesome, yes, the ultimate pièce de résistance

About this poem:
I have collaborated with an English Prof in CA to rewrite this so I wanted to repost, this version is cleaned up and more focused now, Thanks to Proffessor Cortez! (Substitute "tea" for "coffee"..they both contain legal substances of caffeine!)

Definition Of True Love

My love is of a birth as rare
As 'tis for object strange and high:
It was begotten by Despair
Upon Impossibility.

Magnanimous Despair alone
Could show me so divine a thing,
Where feeble Hope could ne'er have flown
But vainly flapped its tinsel wing.

And yet I quickly might arrive
Where my extended soul is fixed
But Fate does iron wedges drive,
And always crowds itself betwixt.

For Fate with jealous eye does see
Two perfect loves, nor lets them close:
Their union would her ruin be,
And her tyrranic power depose.

And therefore her decrees of steel
Us as the distant Poles have placed
(Though Love's whole world on us doth wheel)
Not by themselves to be embraced,
Unless the giddy heaven fall,
And earth some new convulsion tear;
And, us to join, the world should all
Be cramped into a planisphere.

As lines (so loves) oblique may well
Themselves in every angle greet:
But ours so truly parallel,
Though infinite, can never meet.

Therefore the love which us doth bind,
But Fate so enviously debars,
Is the conjunction of the mind,
And opposition of the stars.

ALIVE AT 65

When I was age five
Fairy tales were still alive

Along came 15
Wow now I’m a teen

An aspiring adult at 25
Things are just coming alive

Not a young adult at 35
But still keeping my stride

Middle age at 45
Old age is a far cry

Oh dear now 55
Managing to still thrive

Today I will turn 65
Still here and am alive!

vatican

They say you all were men of god
Dont you think you went a little to far
raping kids in a dark coffessional box
Love of god what a crock

illusions of what is good
isnt you but it really should
and you say sorry for what have i done
all when your under the gun

Hiding your vicious sins didnt work
the vatican kept us in the dark
more rapes bet you thought it was fun
I will buy the rope so you can be hung

Poems from my Youth: (1) - I Live

I live
When in wonder
I look around me
And behold
The Beauty of Nature

I live
When in Quietude
I lay down
And contemplate
Beauty in Life

I live
When I see
An act of Love
No matter how small
It may be

I live
When in meditation
I am transported to a world
Where Truth and Beauty
Reign supreme

Apart of you

If I could be any part of you.I would want be a teardrop.I would be born in your eye live on your cheek. And die on your lips.

Walk and wonder

Will there be that thunder
In our heart to remember
A cheeky smile
For a while
Then we walk and wonder

Polar summer

So much light
Looks for you,
... Evermore

With such ...

Insistence,
Breaks into,
... Me,

To not

Sleep,
Dream,
... By night,

Because
The day is ...

Awake,
Restless,
... Like

Life...

Which
Beyond us,
... Is timeless.

Creations visions

There is a way and all would say, that you are my creation,
I created you, to be free, to experience all, all of me,
There's a way to go, there's a way to know, that you are you
and I am you too, just close your eyes and visualize, and see,
what was meant to be, creation and imagination that's you
and that's me!

Poets Twilight Corner

Do not attempt to adjust
your eyes
Do not marvel when you
read these words
You have entered a world
where mind and reason are
bent beyond the bounds of
space and time
You are between the edges
of shadow and candycane
reality
Here, we will collect the
fragments of your broken
consciousness and store
them in mind boxes for
further review
Vanquish all your preconceptions
A penquin will serve you a wine
glass filled with the unknown
equations of eternal dawn
You are at a lemonade stand
fixed between the rings of Saturn
and a primitive earth that has
received its final burn notice
Drink deep for you have fallen
into the abyss of endless endless
You have entered..
