Breaking Free

Breaking free should be easy
for that is where I want
and where I need to be.
Sometimes, however, the pieces
cut like glass and I must wait
for the bleeding to pass.

Experimenting with altered states
with friends, I try my wings
knowing that they will love and
care for me ‘til the hour, late.
Mixed with Calexico’s chords,
Andrew Bird’s voice floats over
his violin strings straining tears.

These are the sounds I hear
as I close my eyes and
remember who I am
and how I got here
knowing at the end of the day
I will be going home.

Will You Remember Me

Will you remember. the Spring, times that we've shared..
Sitting under the old maple tree.. watching as the sunlit amber leaves of the forsynthia,
fell scattered amongst the ground.,
like a sudden golden meteor shower. around Easter time..
and then watching as the lilacs
burst forth, like a passionate purple flower showering us both with love, and making our heads spin with their heady scent ,.right around Mother's Day
and...then the days spent.. taking seemingly endless drives along the countryside..
Laughing and lost in nature's beautiful spell she cast.

Pages turned
and,bridges crossed.
love we began,
hoping it would not be lost.
Will you remember,
times we've had,
loved shared.,
The hot July sun..
days spent floating upon serene blue waters..
aimlessly without a care..sun dancing recklessly in our hair,
summer's spell rendering us utterly powerless.
to resist starlit dreamy, romantic,
summer nights..spent contentedly around a bonfire,
daring us, luring us..
to give in to it's moonlit spell..
Hoping it would not be washed away.

Will you recall, as the summer turned to fall..
the cool chilly air and nights spent in,,,
staring into eachother's eyes..
we had no secrets and we had no lies..
Pillow talk, till the light of dawn..
Sometimes dreading, the imminent arrival of nearby stormy skies.

I wonder will you remember, the first snowfall..
the wonder of it all.
as we placed lights upon the tree
As we traced angels in the snow..
Tracing memories we came to know..
As if in some other time,
some other place.I can't help but wonder,
Will you even remember my face.

Will you remember me at all,
Or have you ,already been taken you from me...
Only time can know..
And sometimes it feels as though I'm in love alone.
And though you haven't yet actually gone,
I already miss you, so.

Empty~

I lost my heart
I lost my place
Foolishly traded it all,
For a pretty face.

I found an empty heart
within an empty soul,
And lost the best friend,
I will ever know.

Procellae…

I love storms,
I also love ‘doin’ them,
They’re huge, expansive,
Seemingly infinite,
Kind of like us…

I am blessed to live within spitting distance from the Mediterranean sea,
This afternoon a rare storm moved through our town,
Wind, thunder, rain, etc.
I hurriedly put on my parka and rushed outside to ‘do’ the storm,
I allowed my gaze to roam the immense spread of water and welcomed the hypnotic spell it cast on me,
It was exhilarating…

But, that’s not my point today,
As we bob up and down like a cork on life’s ocean,
We often feel small and victimized by the cosmos,
We sink into the ‘dream’ and buy the illusion that we’re just a helpless pawn in a universal chess game,
Where we’re lucky if we get three square meals a day…,
But, my Hellene heritage rebels against such an existence, a euphemism for slavery, frankly…

I ‘wanna’ be like a storm,
Vast,
Unrestrained,
Untamed,
With endless potential,
Pursuing my thing with a passionate abandon…
Above all, I wanna do it according to the dictates of my Deoxyribonucleic acid, not someone else’s,
I wanna be like Richard Bach’s Jonathan Livingston Seagull,
Boundless and unfettered…

Storms, therefore, teach us, if we allow them, how to soar, how to ascend, how to spread our wings and mount the stars…,
Happy mounting..., the stars, I mean, heh, heh…

A New Day Dawning..

A New Day Dawning

My heart did flipflops in the predawn light
Filled with such a sense of calm
I knew not from whence it came
Sunlight danced majestically upon the placid lake
Stirring in me feelings I had long ago buried
Neath the rubble in my mind
As I sat transfixed, slowly sipping coffee from a steaming mug
I lazily drank in the sounds of a new day dawning
Slowly awakening from it's twilight slumber
I could not move , did not want to move
From this new place where I was bathed in such serenity
Had it really been here all the while?
As I pondered this thought, I heard a rustling in the wind
Calling to me , heeding me to seize this day
For it will never come again .

Mr.Wrong

I’m not looking for ideal.
I’ve seen ‘em,
They are all fake.

I’m not looking for a match
With the same interests as mine.
I would learn nothing new.

I’m not looking for alike thinker
I would start the phrase and he would finish it for me.
I need no echo.

I am not looking for a stunning beauty
I need no mirror

I’m not looking for Mr.Right
On the closer look he appeared to be Mr.A***ole
I’m not looking for him again.

I want My Mr.Wrong
With all his imperfections, faults
With all our differences

I want us to care for each other
Stay on each other’s side whatever happens

I don’t want extraordinary love
What we need is to love without getting tired

"Time Speeds By"

As we age~
As we grow older,

The minutes and the hours~
The days and the weeks~
The months and the years~
Seem to pass as quickly
As the blink of an eye.

Life seems to be passing us by,
And we think sadly~
"It is over!"

Our memories become our life line,
Our only connection to the world.

But then a miracle occurs;
And we find another lonely heart
That has been floating alone
In a sea of memories~
Searching for something or someone
To keep them from drowning.

Two strangers meet.
They come from two different worlds.

They join hands and hearts.
They join bodies and souls.

And time somehow slows down,
And gives them the opportunity
To again dream~
To again feel~
To again love!

No tears left to shed

You broke my heart
No tears left to shed
In the beginning
No words need be said
We felt the same about each other
Where did all this trouble come from
No tears left to shed
Could It I'm be dead
Or could it be I've been hurt
I was on a natural high
You liked to get high
The texts grew
shorter
One text per day
One phone call at 11pm
Couldn't leave the phone
Tried to call you back
Never would you answer the phone
No tears left to shed
Could I be dead
Going a month without seeing each other
My feelings turning into rubber
My brains working on overtime
I had to say here's a dime
I hope you find what it is that you want
No tears left to shed
Maybe you can find someone to share your bed
For me
consider me dead

Sometimes love never dies

It was a cold windy night
As I turned off the light
I heard your voice call my name
I pulled the blankets over my head
The wind was whistling and whipping around
I didn't make a sound
Once again you called my name
I closed my eyes tightly
I felt you brush the hair out of my eyes
I was afraid to look into your eyes
I could feel a tear drop fall upon my face
I knew in my heart it was you
In a low whisper you told me I would be okay
Said you didn't have much time to stay
I opened my eyes only to see your beautiful blue eyes
Oh how I miss you so
Tears rolled down my face
You kissed away my tears
You took away my fears
I asked why you ?
Why couldn't you stay with me ?
Why did God take you away ?
You promised me you were in a better place
You gently kissed my lips
The winds no longer were whistling and whipping around
My eyelids grew heavy
I felt at peace
my heart didn't hurt so much
You took my hands into yours
Told me you loved me so
All the racing thoughts went away
I fell into a deep sleep
When I awoke I was alone
I thought I could smell your cologne
Was it a dream or did you come to me
In my deep time of need ?

DAWN IN THE GLEN

Streaks of pink and gold in the sky
Sparkling silver intricate spider webs
As the shining sun bids night goodbye
Waking the inhabitants from their beds

Songs drifting from high in the trees
While the Fairies bathed in the dewdrops
Glitters like bright diamonds on gossamer wings
Green frogs on lily pads hopped

Spirits were high as the new day began
Clean and fresh promising everything anew
Colorful dragon and butterflies flitted over the land
Sipping the nectar of the colorful flowered jewels

Sprinkling on each a touch of fairy dust mist
Yellow Buttercups, Pansies, Roses and Violets
Giving each of them a light kiss
Then flying on through the golden sunlight

Another day in the Glen had begun
Bringing a new promise from the morning sun.
