WHEN THE WORLD STOOD STILL

Embedded image from another site

Suddenly the world stood still
Silence spread across the land
Not even the song of a bird trill
Every peep and movement banned

A feared darkness spread over all
Inhabitants tucked in their abodes
Not wanting company coming to call
Afraid that the darkness would implode

At first desiring for all to be normal
To get back to the way things were
But were things really abnormal
And a permanent change about to occur

For out of the darkness good things came
Bravery – kindness – caring – new friends
Supporting others – not knowing their name
For no doubt the World had transcend

You light up my life

Like a dessert need the water.
Like a flower need the rain.
My soul is thirsty for your love.
My heart is screaming out your name.

Like a ship needs its sailor.
Like the stars needs the sky.
You brighten up my world with your fantastic smile.
With the stars you light up the sky.

Like a movie star loves fame.
Like a poor man needs money.
I need you and only you.
For you are my sweet angel that is from above.

When the twilight is fading.
And the sky is dark and grey.
Just remember this one thing.
My love for you will always be true.

I'm so proud that I met you.
Would love to have you by my side.
And I just want you to know.
You are the love of my life.

~~Natural Healing~~

Alone with my Lymphoma my senses have grown,
A complete change of focus, some new seeds sown,
Mother Nature called out with magnetic support,
“Take note of my beauty and your ills I will sort”,
On a woodland walk in the country I went,
Saw a fox disappear as he picked up my scent,
Had it not been for that I may never have seen,
That beautiful rainbow through the bows so green.
I even enjoyed the mist on my face,
It put a shine on the foliage to enhance the place,
I can’t recall admiring scattered puddles before,
But these were shiny mirrors on the forest floor,
When I gaped inside to study the view,
I realised my life was turned upside down too,
Nature was helping much more than I thought,
Because of the awareness to my senses it brought,
Suddenly! the noise of a hawk in the air,
It swirled and swooped as I stood and stared,
I could only admire how he patrolled the skies,
While ultimately plotting some rodents demise,
From these simple studies I absorbed much relief,
Sights, scents, and sounds surpassing belief,
They kept me from pondering on things like my death,
When my thoughts should only have been my next breath,
Later the moon rose behind a thorny hedge,
As a trout in the river engulfed it’s final sedge,
Time to wander home now from this place that I yearn,
Tomorrow back to Nature and more lessons to learn.

About this poem:
I wrote this in 2004 when Lymphoma returned
for the 2nd time. In desperation I turned to
Nature for a cure ! I'm still here.

Shall We Play??????

Open these pages
if you dare
but heed my warning
please beware
for inside
you’ll find buried there
thoughts to make your mind aware
with tales of love
and dark despair

Angel

I once knew an angel;
Girl I need to tell you this
for you may think that angels,
are creatures full of bliss
Let me tell you sweetheart,
they are not like that
Confused down here; in disarray;
more like an alley cat

Sweet as sugar when we met,
innocence portrayed
Inside, hidden from my view,
something quite depraved
Her beauty so ethereal;
I never could describe
But that was human beauty,
not her other side

Was she here for a reason;
That I will never know
unlike our dreams of angels
pure as driven snow
Thought I'd be in heaven;
instead we entered hell
Never thought an angel,
would know it quite so well

I once knew an angel girl,
Let me tell you this
If we ever meet again,
I'll beg for one more kiss

Temptation

Languid puma flexes
No trace of city stress
Flared; short; oh so hot
Red the mini dress
Offerings tempting
Urgent buttock bare
Desert heat
No relief
Magnificent sweet peaches there
Jazz delights
Perfect sights
Swirl of skirt
Flash of white
Innocence betrayed by light
Temptation clawing
Touch those perfect curves
Another dance
Another chance
Epiphany observed
Languorously sensual
Tarantella teasing
Bright white thong in buried bliss
Begs a predatory kiss

Leavings

Whore without a heart of gold
night hung quietly arrogant
Among the trees an icy breeze
rabid as some mad disease
flaunting and how decadent
an anxious mother seeking
In mad delight
bequeathed twilight
a charnel house of reeking
So
I sit and shiver
as elegance betrayed the day
one final chance that come what may
an arrow from the quiver
of shaking hand won’t understand
the damage in its aiming
Virgin’s blood on withered thighs
will reconcile the maiming
Can you
Delighted
An avid birthday child
just once assuage the burning rage
within me running wild

Capitals

Canyon deep those glassine walls
reflecting in the light recalls
the shattered dreams of those who dared
Alas; the city never shared
and beaten now they slink away
midst memories of better days

Through all this; the city
Urgent; seething
without pity
reaches with its silken ties
to change before more hopeful eyes

Promises of wealth and riches
buried innocent with glitches
tossed in there in purest spite
to the cities mad delight

Temptations offered
some refused
others horribly abused

Effortless the city lies
strengthening those silken ties
turning them to hardened steel
‘til the nightmares
somehow real
with joy
grasp enraptured minds
happy dreams now left behind

So innocence is truly lost
city grows
at what a cost

Did You Know?

When I was confused
and lost in my soul..

You found me..

I was not searching
for you.. yet

You sought me out..

I was like a lost child
in the wilderness of
life..

You saw my love and my
hatred, but you were
greater that my heart..

And you captured me with
your love..

I did not know you..

Did not understand why
you would want me..

But you knew me from
a distance..

And you loved me..

Why did you comfort
the weak..

What am I that you
would take joy in
my presence..

Did you know?

Have you measured my
devotion to you..

You are more than
the stars of heaven..

I cherish the thought
of you..

I breathe your name..

I can barely say it..

I draw a breath..

And I tremble to
speak the words..

I whisper these
words..

I whisper.. my love..
my love..

No Tears

It is not my tears I shed
For you children of Norway
For my grief
Lies far beyond that pain
I am not so innocent
As so many of you were
Comprehension has left my mind
For numbness has overtaken me
And I can only mingle, as one
Of the so many heavy hearts
That does not understand
But can only plead
Why! Oh why

Hope has been replaced
By despair
And compassion
Lies bereft at the waters edge
I shed no tears
For I am far beyond that sorrow
And the parents of the innocents
Can only cry
Why! Oh why

I can hear a man downstairs
Whistling a happy tune
I so wish today
I had the will to whistle
But hope lies fallen in despair
As humanity takes one further step
Backwards into the dark
The world mourns
With Norway
For the innocents it has lost
And the parents of the children
Can only cry
Why! Oh why

About this poem:
I realise Bill has written a poignant poem, I just wanted to express how I and I know so many of you feel. Inhumanity has no bounds in morals or compassion, it is pure cowardice to me. I can say no more

Three

There are no challenges
Where I reside
For deserted by myself
Then this island
Is home
It is where I scream
It is a choice
Of finding myself
It holds no terrors
Or deems to me
That this is fate
And where I belong

I took that choice
For only one
Can abandon themselves
Yet you gave me
The chance to live
By choosing
Things that would
Comfort me
And bring me hope
But I abandoned hope
As one challenge
Far too far

So I must choose
And it is true love
That most glorious
Of depth
And may I find compassion
For a heart
That bears none
Is truly a lost soul
And finally
I choose you
It matters not
Who you are
That like me
You are a soul
That made the choices
Of abandoning
Yourself
For the sake
Of others

Enchanted Evening

In the background Bach is played
In the foreground wine is shared
Candles flicker, small talk made
And hearts become ensnared

The chemistry is strong, refined
A hungry longing permeates
Hands touch fingers intertwined
Eyes meet; recognizing soul mates

Lips meet, delicate and sweet
Reunited, familiar and new
A liftime traveling it took to meet
Perseverence it took to see it through

Enchanted evening, love in bloom
And the love won't be denied.
And they knew their lives beyond the room
Would be a journey side by side.

BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH

Drifting between Heaven and Earth
Images come of the first rebirth
Floating in serenity with eyes closed
Hanging on a sleep cliff slightly poised

Pictures passing through the mind
Of landscaped horizons so sublime
Mountains and forest in shades of gray
Shift and change scenes like in a play

Suddenly a forest of silhouetted black trees
Gradually disappearing all but one that I could see
One big familiar tree made my heart soar
The shaped leaves and branches I’d seen before

The Tree of Life appeared before my closed eyes
Transforming into another shape against the sky
One by one the branches faded slowly away
Leaving a glowing Cross as the only part to stay

Like a curtain in a play lowering it faded away
Separating consciousness from Heavens stage
Slowly drifting back to the earthly realm of life
Trying to absorb what had seen with closed eyes

The Tree of Life whose fruit imparts eternal life
Was the one fruit by God to man was denied
By partaking of the fruit man became mortal
Entrance to Eternity became a closed portal

The Cross brought us mercy and grace from this fall
For Christ became the new Tree of life for us all
Partaking of the fruit is no longer forbidden
For He paved a way for us to Eternal Heaven

OWEGO - MY ADOPTED HOME

Embedded image from another site
I may not be an Owego native bred and born
But this small town has certainly become my home
Front Street flowers in Spring is hard to compare
People drive by just to stop and stare

The Susquehanna River twists and turns gently by
While all kinds of birds overhead fly
The Park is lined all over with old Hickory trees
Welcoming all while blowing in a gentle breeze

When you venture out to walk down the street
You know and speak to everyone you greet
Sometimes it is like stepping back in time
Or is it that the rest of the World is far behind

You can travel all over the World
But you will never find a more precious pearl
For nowhere you go can compare to home
No matter how far and how long you roam
