RE: Obama Rocks! Is Obama a great president or would McCain be better?

Zee, clearly snipers don't do QCB assaults, neither Delta or Seal's nor any other sniper will engage a target without authorisation. You need "eyes on" to make the evaluation before the assault. So unless the boat were covered with tin foil then you would use IR or thermal equipment, as he'll tell you.

Clearly, if a boat were slow in the water, or a main vessel then you'd board the vessel. And a group of three SEAL team's would have gone through a group of non professionals like a dose of salts.

RE: Which is worse.. the pain or the high?

I feel really sorry for anyone feeling physical pain every day, but i have a suggestion that you might find very useful.

Have a look online for this book, it will be available everywhere and should be in your library.

RE: Obama Rocks! Is Obama a great president or would McCain be better?

Zee, the reports say "snipers" did the work. You don't get a sniper to do a QCB assault in a soft skinned rigid.

I hate to tell you that Royal Marine snipers took out drug smugglers at speed from helicopters.......but then don't take my word for it, look at the news report as you clearly will argue anything with me as i have always been an "art dealer".

Had they been on the vessel then i would have expected a covert assault at night at 4am with SD3's and night vision on.

On the main vessel this would be the way to go for sure, but not on a moving lifeboat, especially when the route for craft couldn't be intercepted by guys in the water. That required a stationary vessel to allow an assault.

Here's an article on how Marine Snipers work, and if i remember rightly, a robust rifle like the M40A3 isn't going to be ideal from a circling aircraft, but more likely something semi automatic, where you can put 5 shots spot on within 10 seconds including adjustment time with decent optics.

The main thing to remember is the "minute of angle" (think 1" spread at 100 yards) and so the Helo will have been fairly close to guarantee the inevitable outcome for the target.

So think a modern semi-auto weapon, 200 yards, .5 MOA and half inch spread and boat that's slow, basically any sniper worth his salt would be able to do this, especially with .762 round.

Anyway, i'm sure the details will surface, but the main thing is the man is safe and on his way back home to see his family.

RE: Give us a chance.

Just think "tomorrow is another day" and you never know what will happen.

Far better to be open to any possibility and someone might well turn up when you least expect itthumbs up

RE: Obama Rocks! Is Obama a great president or would McCain be better?

Depends on the the equipment being used, whether a tactical Remington 700 or say an AS50 where the range is far longer.

The M110 is an ideal candidate for one sniper to do this in one go, but a light skinned boat skips (rigids) quite a bit so my guess is a sniper took them out from a helo.It isn't possible to make a shot from a bouncing rigid travelling at 30 nots.

Most likely the chap used his product, but then again as others said this is what the guy's are specifically trained to assault boats and oil rigs.

Another recent example was also displayed by Royal Marines Snipers, where soft skinned boats go to inspect a boat, and then the Sniper does his work from the elevated position where he gets the best available position.

Arrest over gun used in Columbine massacre

Andrew Gumbel

Tuesday, 4 May 1999

A MAN was arrested yesterday on suspicion of supplying the semi- automatic pistol used in the massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.

Mark Manes, 22, surrendered to authorities and was held on $15,000 bail. He could get up to six years in prison.

Manes was the first person since the massacre on 20 April to be accused of helping to arm the teenage killers, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who assembled an arsenal of four guns and more than 50 bombs.

Investigators said an employee at a pizza parlour where Harris and Klebold worked served as the middleman who put them in touch with Manes.

The arrest came 13 days after the attack in which Harris and Klebold - armed with a rifle, two sawn-off shotguns and the handgun - killed 12 students and a teacher and then committed suicide.

Columbine's pupils resumed classes yesterday, sharing facilities with a nearby school while hundreds of investigators continued to pore over the evidence in their shattered classrooms, cafeteria and library.

Nearly 2,000 Columbine pupils, with their teachers, took the afternoon shift at Chatfield High, just a short drive away, while Chatfield's students crammed their schedule into the morning.

Mental health counsellors were expected to be on hand in every classroom, and the normal curriculum was likely to be waived - yesterday, at least - in favour of a reassessment of the traumatic events of 20 April and their aftermath.

Traditionally, Columbine and Chatfield are rivals. But yesterday students from both schools were given blue and burgundy ribbons combining the colours of both institutions.

The arrangement presented considerable logistical problems - such as letting all the Chatfield cars leave before all the Columbine ones arrived - and police took several extraordinary security measures, such as changing all the locks and issuing special identification cards.

Some students were nervous that possible accomplices of Harris and Klebold might be in class with them. Investigators have neither confirmed nor ruled out the possibility of further suspects. But school officials said it was vital for the school to carry on as normally as possible and for seniors to graduate on schedule.

Local shops donated new school bags and books to replace the ones left inside the Columbine campus, which is still an active crime scene. Students who felt physically or psychologically unable to go to school were given official blessing to stay away. Five remain in hospital and 17 others are still recovering from serious gunshot and shrapnel wounds.

In the community of Littleton, attitudes towards Harris and Klebold appear to be polarising between anger and forgiveness. Last week, an Illinois carpenter, Greg Zanis, erected 15 crosses on a hill near the school. The two symbolising Harris and Klebold were soon pulled down. On Friday, he put up two new memorials to them, but when these too were vandalised he decided over the weekend to remove all 15.

So the easy answer if you want an illegal gun is ask someone to aquire one for you?

And any ideas of stopping this?

RE: Environmental Impact of Readin News

The future of newspapers within the publishing world is digital and online!

Thus circulation figures here in the UK are plummeting and people can digest the same information at home.

I'm afraid as well to let you know that within 5 years newspapers will be basically free because they are funded by advertising now.

The days of paying for news media now are almost over, so it will be very hard to tax.

RE: Obama Rocks! Is Obama a great president or would McCain be better?

Re: Surgical bombing, and cluster bombs.

The US Airforce can make a guarantee about their ability on surgical bombing.

"Our bombs are 100% guaranteed to hit the ground".

The same manual also says, "it is inadvisable to eject in an area where you just bombed".

Anyone might suspect the pilot wouldn't be very welcome
doh

RE: What is the number one turnoff for men?

Can you imagine that as a pass-time? No way, besides my feet aren't nice and are ticklish!

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Zee hasn't realised yet this is a debate on a forum, not a call from NATO or the UN for Americans to be forcibly disarmeddoh

So lets try to debate!!! But the issues, not state other ways to kill people with an egg whisk and then try to make out it's the same as a full auto firearm.

Remember, you cant kill people running away in all directions with a knife, a toaster, a crossbow, a dead rabbit....but sure as hell you maybe able to kill one person with ll of these....but the sentient point is that other people seeing a maniac doing this will have the ability to run away.

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

So you don't see a problem with a "kid" being able to buy a MAC10 and go into school with it?

It's your right to have the ability to own a gun where you can have the ability to fire off 600 rounds a minute in a school?

How would you stop this then Zee?

Or just tell the parents of the kids or global warming would have killed them, or maybe a drunk moron crashing into a record store might have killed them?

Did you notice that the person in the vehicle once he crashed into the store was unable to drive around and kill everyone else?doh

Mind you if the person wound down the window with a loaded MAC10 ready he'd have the ability to kill anyone wanting to escape the car!

I'm afraid your argument doesn't hold water. But please feel free to suggest ways your fellow Americans can prevent others from having their kids killed in school by machineguns.

What do you want to do, give the teacher an Uzi in case a student looks pissed off?

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Zee, i'm afraid your reasoning is flawed.

What on earth does global warming have to do with sneaking a firearm into a school and blowing away fellow students?

I haven't seen one single case of someone being able to sneak a truck/car/motorbike into a school and then wiping out 10 people by a disgruntled student.

If you don't understand this, you need to go lay down and take a rest.

Now if you want to do a thread about banning cars due to global warming, or banning cars because they could kill someone then go do a thread about it!

These facts have nothing to do with the issues i have spelt out in the thread now do they?

doh

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

I'm not, but i hate to point out but are these foreigners using legal guns to kill people?

Maybe time to evaluate people properly and screen out nutters who want to own an AK47.

I can't think of one good reason to own an AK47.

As has been stated earlier,a standard NATO .556 round is designed not to kill specifically, it's rationale was to clog up Russian supply and logistics and make battlefield loses clog up and basically bog down an army.

A standard 7.62 round though, if your shot with this will drop you down for good. That's why some sniper rifles use this calibre.

The issue is why American's tend to turn their guns on each other on such a regular basis, and how this could be stopped, and the loses minimised.

I'd change availability...pistol or shotgun for home defence only.

Single action rifles like the Remmington 700 available for hunting/sporting use.....nothing semi automatic.

Nothing full auto available to the public, including anything that can be converted with "Tri Burst" triggers.

Psychological assessment for approval of a gun permit.

No approval for carrying concealed weapons, whatsoever.....with a 25 year penalty for anyone being caught.

Just adopting these rules along, there won't be old MAC10's finding their way into the hands of maniacs that can take their nice pride into a school and blow their classmates away.

RE: Cull Thy Neighbour!

Look at the popularity at films like "saw" and "hostel" and you will have your answer.

People will cue up to watch the grisly, and the advertising cost would be higher in the programme than anything else.

Remember public executions, people used to bring their kids to watch the show!

Picture the movie "braveheart" and "gladiator" and you'll soon see the majority of the populace will watch this spectacle even if they don't watch admit it!

Remember the popularity of the "executions" video? That sold a lot of copies!

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Zee, we took care if that stupid false premise already didn't we?

You cant sneak a car into a classroom to kill anyone, or manage to get a car into a restaurant to surprise everyone covertly.

The premise that guns are the same as anything else that can kill someone is only an argument that a moron will seriously believe.

I should say at this point say i am not calling you a moron, what i am saying is the argument is moronic.

The man or woman in the "Iron Mask"

Now legend describes an entry in the Bastille when stormed by the populace during the revolution in France.

An entry read, "Prisoner........#####......Man In The Iron Mask".

Now who would you be pleasantly surprised to find out who was an imposter and who's replacement we could put in their rightful place, and more importantly what would you like to do with the imposter?

RE: What should we do to Monsters like Robert Mugabe?

Didn't we get rid of Robert Smith because he was going to prevent foreign companies getting access to the mineral wealth of the country?

I seem to remember he wanted a fair deal for the people in the country, and this wasn't acceptable, so we had him removed.

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Ah, visit corporate hospitality and the hunting set and you'll find that these people also are landowners!

Thus the slugs for pest control on farms.

Sadly i've seen this mistake myself near me which proves some people are incompetent and shouldn't be allowed near weapons.

This happening on the Thames near a bridge doesn't even bare thinking about. Thus my Thoughts on the Port Of London Authority being pissed off with the idea.

Mistakes happen, but then exposure is much lighter, making accidents far more rare!

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Joel, i'm still making the point on what types of weapons should be available to the general public.

Because believe me a guy with a rifle isn't going to be able to go up against a mechanised Unit armed with SOPMOD kits, tear gas and night vision equipment with air support.

Quite simply you either have to feel paranoid that your own Government is after you, or maybe be practical and not worry that everyone out their including any person will pull a gun and want to shoot you!

Your far more likely to be shot by a fellow american for looking at his girlfriend outside a club, or at an ATM, or god forbid mowed down by a nutter with problems who wasn't screened out and had the right to buy a MAC10.

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Jesus give me strength.I was trying to give an analogy!

Some possible justifiable reason to own a weapon, not the intricacies of shooting a deer or duck.

I'm afraid you just don't get it at all Zee.

You clearly haven't paid the slightest attention to what i'm trying to say and i feel like i am walking around in circles waiting to answer more inane comments.

Just go lay down and get some rest.

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Ok how many legal guns in America?

Enough for anyone who wants one?

Other than the Military and law enforcement who "needs" an automatic weapons?

I'm talking rotary chamber shotguns, 9mm Machineguns, .50 cal sniper rifles, and automatic trigger conversion kits or burst trigger kits if you want to get away from the legality of full automatic weaponry.

Do you really think anyone is going to come into your home to confiscate your 9mm Glock or 9mm Beretta?

But extended magazines......why need them, anything tactical,at all actually.....because if the government wanted to disarm the populace it couldn't.......ask anyone who has been in Pakistan or Afghanistan.

Did you know you can see people making home made versions of an AK47 there by the roadside, in simple buildings and they are for sale on the street! What you don't see is that people buy them and then walk into their schools and then shoot people.

And the Kashmiri and Afghans have been earning a living as soldiers/mercenaries for hundreds of years.

So what makes disturbed people go into public places and decide to kill their fellow workers, fellow students and fellow diners?

And remember, if you tried with a knife you might kill one, maybe 2 in 10 seconds and the rest would escape unharmed.

But with a maniac with a Mac10, 10 spare clips (extended) someone can fire off over 400 round of ammunition, in under a minute, mowing dozens of people down who are trying to escape.

So, given that, a truck, a car, a knife, a tin of baked means, none of these you can covertly transport these into a classroom and then kill, 10, 20, 50 people without them being able to escape.

But then if someone took their 9mm into school they would kill only maybe 5 people before the rest escaped......

So please, can anyone tell me why automatic or semi automatic weapons are available to the general public?

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Were their guns purchased legally?

Or are we to assume any Immigrant may be a danger to US citizens?

That would do wonders for your tourism industry.

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Zee, if you cant debate the issue, why not go to another thread?confused

Look up "debate" in the dictionary...this is "a debate"...if you don't like it, simply leave the thread man.

It's really that simple....

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

You are seriously worried about a Saudi Arabian in hiding in Pakistan when your largest chance of being shot is not result of terrorism, but more likely at an ATM at the hands of another American?

Why do you think the average American feels the need to own say a machinegun...for self defence? Deer Hunting??????? Duck Shooting?????????

What skill does it take to shoot a duck, deer with 30 rounds from a modified AR14 rifle with a triburst trigger, much less an imported GR3 or say G36c or MP5?

I hate to point this out, but you have more to fear from domestic terrorists than any from abroad....and worse of all they will be armed with the very weapons legally that you are all allowed to own!

So why not limit availability, and reduce exposure?

That way kids can't buy legal weapons at arms shows and take them into schools and blow away their classmates.

If you have any ideas on how to stop this i'd be interested, as this is the theme i started the thread on, not an Americans right to bear arms.

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Ah no, i don't want that image in my head, i only want to believe there are size 10 suntanned beautiful people wearing them on the gold coast....not something out of a weight watchers or heavy weight lifting sumo doughnut eating contest.grin

On the day when another maniac goes off the rails........

Zee, if i say i am an arms dealer with a chicken standing on my head it makes no difference to the debate now does it?

The issue unless you forgot is what makes Americans have the propensity to use firearms on each other, what can be done to limit this, will better regulation and the type of weaponry available to the common guy like you in the street help or for arguments sake what will make the deaths outside of those caused(illegally) military type firearms and should these type of weapons only be available to law enforcement and the military.

Now Zee, if you don't have anything to comment, add or contribute other than duff links and wondering what my previous background is, why bother to post?

I could be sitting here dressed up like mini mouse eating popcorn with a badger for company, but what does that have to do with the subject at hand?
