Things I'm Gonna Do

I will go to a morel festival in Muscoda
I will watch a parade there to pass some time away
I will go to a baseball game at Miller Park
I will watch the Brewers just for a lark
I am going to Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells for free
A 250 gift card from work just for me
I will golf some here and there
I will go to some driving ranges and hit some golf balls without care
I will work the same crappy job just for the bucks
I will try not to get hurt with a little luck
I am going to visit my dad in that horrible nursing home
I will sing in my car and watch dvds in my car and write this poem

About this poem:
There are a lot of things I would do if the time and the money would come together just right. I would like to go some day to some distant land like Australia or Ireland.

Fallen

My dad fell twice in the last two weeks
Now he is at a rehab/nursing home
Will he ever come out of that awful place
Where there is no privacy
People waiting to die
Other greedy caregivers charging 5000 bucks a month
Getting rich off the misery of old people
Not being respected at a time when they should be
We have a sick devoting to youth in this culture
Billions spent making people look young
Diets of all sorts that promise the world and only take money
There are 10,000 people who turn 65 every day in this country
Where is all the money going to come to take care of them all?
And are they going to get the care they need?
Are they going to be treated with dignity and respect in their golden years?
I know a place of dignity and respect because I feel it
I also know a place that doesn't care about people because I feel that too
I've only been to this place once
I felt bad for my dad being there

About this poem:
My dad would be hunting morels right now if he had his health. I went out for a little over an hour and found nothing but an old Skippy peanut butter jar made out of glass from the 1960s.

Milk

It is on it's way
Way cheaper milk coming from Canada
We won't have to pay those sky high prices Wisconsin dairy farmers want
Anything to save a buck or two
Or even three
So what price we will pay for our cheap milk?
The dairy industry is the backbone of many communities in Wisconsin
If they can't sell their milk anymore then all that money will stop flowing
Flowing into restaurants, Catholic schools, businesses of all sorts
It's just another story from our friends who brought us NAFTA
Bush wrote it up and Clinton passed it
Perot tried to stop it
He said you will hear a giant sucking sound going south
Well, it looks like there is going to be another giant sucking sound
This one will be going north!
To Canada!

About this poem:
I am really dreading all this crap with hard working people getting the shaft again and again and again. I've done some farm work in my past. These people really work their butts off to keep us all well fed.

Race

They are here
They are there
Race is this place and that place
A face is a face
There is a lot of pain with this race
If we could just love everyone no matter what
Forget about Black History Month
And why is it called history?
What about her story?
It's seem to always be dominated by his story
War and greed
For the most part are male industries
So is this whole race debate just another tool to divide people
So the rich can just gooble up even more than they deserve
Let's just forget about race
And try to make this place
Wherever it is
A place worth living in

Juice

Juice
We got enough to go around
Killings in Chicago let out a weird sound
All we have to do is understand
They are fleeing away from this land
Over 200,000 since 2005
More who choose to stay might just be choosing to die
What is the solution to all this madness
When men choose badness instead of gladness
Jobs and hope being stripped away
Replaced by dope and despair with forgotten people who pray
For a better day where this is light
Instead of running in fright
Listen to what I have to say
Kids no longer feel safe to go out and play

About this poem:
This violence is spreading instead of getting better. I know I won't be taking any trips to Chicago any time soon.
This is a parody of a song from the movie soundtrack Juice. It is about four friends and one who enjoys having the power of a gun. He is played by the rapper Tupac who was shot dead on September 7, 1996.

Back In My Day

Back in my day
We didn't pay for cable
We just watched three channels plus PBS
I went to three movies when I was little
Every Which Way But Loose, Herbie Rides Again, and E.T.
I played pong and payed a quarter for playing Ms. Pacman
I bowled three games, a soda, Combos, and two video games for $5.00
I had Carter and Reagan as my presidents
Carter was a good man and Reagan was really bad
I had home cooked meals made in bulk which I ate for days
I ate my cereal sitting on the floor so I could watch cartoons
Bugs Bunny, Speedy Gonzoles, Smurfs, and Pacman
As well as many other cartoons
They had educational cartoons between regular cartoons
My favorite song was the number three and then interjection
I went fishing every summer and went to Arkansas around Easter
I believed Bigfoot lived around me and Loc Ness was real
The Easter Bunny and Santa Claus were real too
As well as ghosts
One lived in a house my sister was scared out of around 1982
Life was much simpler then and the music was great
Really really great!

Just thinking back to when I was younger. It has been 37 years since those days and I guess each time period has its pluses and minuses. My big minus is going to work. My big minus back then was going to school.

Hoarder Rant

That poop is a part of me
Don't be stealing my poo!
As far as the urine
Don't be takin my plastic bottle of piss!
That really pisses me off!
So maybe I have cat skeletons in my living room
Maybe to ya'll civilized folk
It stinks in my place
But after a couple hours you don't smell it no more
I don't have any money to hire a plumber
If I did then maybe I wouldn't have to do my business in a bucket
Back in the olden times they used a chamber pot
So in a historical sense
What I'm doing is just fine and dandy

About this poem:
Taped hoarders and watched it this morning. This poem is based on the woman and her condemned home. They had to wear breathers and hazmat suits to clean up the mess. She went to live with a relative after the show.

Driving Drunk

There are huge penalties for driving drunk
Or under the influence of a drug
Especially if it's your second offense
You have to go to jail for up to six months
Though it could be 55 days
There is the fine of over 1,000 dollars
There is the high risk insurance that could run over 100 bucks a month
You have to have an ignition interlock device installed on your car
You blow into it to start your car
Then you have to blow into it again after five minutes of driving
Then again about 30 minutes later
You lose your driver's license for one to one and a half years
If you kill or maim someone
Then you get more jail time and fines
Wisconsin is the only state that doesn't have criminal penalties for first offense
We also have a huge problem with drunk driving
Texting while driving is growing as a huge problem also

950 bucks

I was told at work by a temp worker
I'm gonna make 950 bucks this week
I get eight hours a day for working here
I also get four hours for riding on a bus from Janesville
So six days of work gets me 72 hours of pay
I told him I only made 400 dollars as a temp
40 hours at 10 dollars an hour
8 hours at 15 dollars an hour
Minus 120 dollars in taxes paid
Minus all the gas money and wear and tear on my car
But at least I don't have to ride on a bus
The word is out on the street that this is a really bad place to work
So they have to bus in 60 workers from 100 miles away
To make the parts
Because most people in my area won't work here
And I don't blame them one bit!

About this poem:
Imagine working at a job for years and finding out that a temp is making 400 dollars a week more than you are. That is just one of the many things that works me up and drives me crazy. This Trump health care plan would be great if everyone would be covered as good as people who are disabled or are in prison. Our health care system is a cruel joke!

9 Days Left To Go

Come one
Come all
To the cheap crap give away!
Come to Kmart
You only have 9 days left to go
After that we won't be here any more
Neither will our many employees
Where will they go to find work to replace their jobs here?
Maybe they'll go to a factory job
Where they'll work long hours in dangerous conditions
With dangerous mean people
Backstabbers, bullies, and gossipers
Oh my!
So come real soon
Our three temps are holding signs to remind you
That you only have nine days left to get 70% off stuff!
Kmart is closing on March 20, 2017

About this poem:
It is so darn cruel out there. All these jobs that come and go. It just seems to get crueler every year. The wages go down and prices go up and these money lending places are making a killing off of this dying consumer. I've seen more humanity with a bunch of crows picking at a dead squirrel on the road!

Monster Powers

Djinn, gets power from wishes, but always twists them to hurt the person wishing for something, then steals their soul, the one who releases a Djinn can grant him power over all souls if they ask three wishes.

Leprechaun, gets his power from his gold coins. If you find one of his coins, you get any wish you want, but the Leprechaun will try to kill anyone who takes his gold.

Gypsy( From Drag Me To Hell), can send you to hell in three days if she curses some object you own. Up to being dragged into hell, you will be tormented by demons who show up randomly and more often the closer to your departure to hell.

Pinhead, has the power to take you to hell to be ripped apart by giant fish hook attached to chains. He can only harm you if you open the box, with the help of his fellow Cenobites.

The Blob, starts out as a small bit of goo, but grows bigger as it eats more people. It is able to completely eat a person in seconds as it completely covers them and then begins dissolving their victims.

Damien, this child has the power of evil and will kill anyone who might harm him. Being the son of the devil, he will grow up to destroy mankind.

Alien, after attaching itself to a human host, the alien will pop out of the victims chest and then molt a few times to become a big killer with acid spit, protruding teeth, and a whip-like tail.

Torture Devices

I was watching this show on the History Channel
All these different methods of torture
We have become so civilized and done away with most of them
What have we replaced them with?
Slavery in jail
Making money for companies like Victoria's Secret
40 cents an hour
Making goods real cheap
We have more blacks in jail today than were slaves during slavery times
The marriage rate was also much better during slavery times
So where is the progress really?
What is the answer if not torture or jail?
I guess I would ask Norway
They seem to have it done the right way

About this poem:
There were some pretty horrific punishments back in the old days. I wonder if it is not more cruel and unusual to separate a father from his family and throw him away in jail than the old day punishments.
