Waldo's Mountain

Leaning stretching touching high up above

Memories gathering twinkling like stars

Waldos Mountain I know you like a love

Every dream every imagination

Some people spend their time in a dream land

Some will turn their dreams into memories

Some dreams will turn to concrete some to sand

But I will always have Waldos Mountain

Time the thief came took my youth still I dream

Waldos Mountain gone like so many things

Close my eyes memories still can be seen

So real smell the salt of the ocean air

Little girl face to the wind eyes closed tight

Wrapped in dreams and fantasy's ready for flight

About this poem:
This is wrote about a place I use to play as a young girl. It is not only in honor of this place but also in honor of its great artist who composed this. One mans trash is anothers treasure. His dream gave way to many dreamers in my town for many years. Thank you Waldo for the many legacies you left behind.

(Sexton's strange mountain ended up being the highest point between Kitty Hawk and Key West, offering a regal view of the grand Atlantic. The mountain, looking like a cross between an Aztec temple and an orderly junk pile was a great tourist attraction, renamed the Hanging Gardens. Sexton died in 1968 and vandals and collectors began to lay waste to his gardens and eventually the site was cleared.
The junk man died a millionaire.)

Feathers

Waiting with wings folded and one leg tucked
My beak buried beneath my wing no sight
Is seen sleeping so soundly head so ducked
Only darkness surrounds me in daylight

Time standing still on one stilt near shoreline
Where n’er even a slightest hint of breeze
For smooth as glass reflecting deep and fine
Causes my green and brown image to freeze

A perfect camouflage blends with a hush
Near cedars clutching in a cleft of rock
No finer detail charms an artist’s brush
Nor is seen by any passing marsh hawk

Silence waits while nature blends together
Matching patterns made by perfect feathers

Caged Inside My Bones

My delicate heart made of flesh and blood
Beating over time that the tides define
How simple each stroke arrives with a thud
A boat rocks at anchor on mooring line

Spirits in life should we love make us dance
What we crave in crest is not coherence
Seek no softness in your cold abundance
Sharing only good grace in appearance

For weak becomes our will and cold our stones
While we age growing up instead of down
A beating heart so caged inside my bones
Like a head above water will not drown

Rise gentle over cresting waves my sun
What wonders where my beating heart begun

When we were young

I remember the lane with loving footsteps worn,
that fragrant filled each sprung dawn,
serves to underwrite my life with bliss,
to relive the joy of loves first kiss,
remains the dawn of life that never pales,
to fill this later day with soft scented tales,
recording love in beauty's soft repose,
with depth, far deeper than the ocean knows,
that soothes the pathway of my sleep,
an exclusive world, my cherished keep,
a whitened world where poets dare,
charge their ink with sonnets fair,

endorsing love, like as the ivy clings,
leaves me richer far than Kings.

Remember

Remember I love's perfect prime,
but will thou, my love, remember
the warmth of our September
that's grown old before its time?
When October bore winter's chill
that relinquished love, remember
in the sullen snows of harsh December
a thoughtful prayer that may kindle still.
Remembering that which once we had,
then wilt thou spare a tear for me
when all my days lifeless be,
or wilt thou smile and not be sad?

In withered thoughts no flower leave,
consign me to darkness and not grieve.

Friends

are people you can trust
that are there for you
when you are in need
real friends don't judge

just hold out their hands
smile and cheer you up
shake their finger at you
when you are out of line

most of all its a form of love
that helps to uplift you
makes you feel strong
ready to meet the new day

someone's shoulder to lean on
also to cry out your heart
most of all a person who shares
each little loss or joy with you

friendship is giving
but also its receiving

Forty Years and Forty Nights

We should not howl loud into the hollow
Announcing all the world is doom and gloom
For time march not like death to a gallow
Waiting for the ol' volcano to plume

Forty years and forty nights an eon
Time measures deeper into space than light
Make our needs to suffer oblivion
Dulling our senses that once shone so bright

For fruits of our labor decay to dust
When the fading sky will swallow the sun
When great cracks rip across the earth's dry crust
The moment comes when darkness thus begun

Nothing safe but our spirit in the wind
Like a lonely owl keeping one eye skinned

Simply Good Bye

Searching for the truth amongst many lies
Which friend or foe lover or deceiver
My heart broken beyond repair good bye
I kept wanting to turn the lie to truth

Looking into the mirror not at me
Different shapes different sizes nothing changed
A slight trick of the hand now you don't see
Magic trickery just an illusion

The curtain closed then opened all were gone
No closing bow no standing ovation
No illusion just me standing alone
A simple curtsy from a mere lady

The lights dimmed the room darkened then silence
Clarity became seen then all made sense

About this poem:
Sometimes in life you have to except what you want to be true does not make it true. One day one might realize they are sitting in a room full of strangers. Kindness goes a long way life. Remember in life you are what you eat. You are what you put into your self. If you put love and kindness into yourself then that is what you will be, so if you find yourself feeding negativity into your life the sensiable thing to do is make changes if it is not where you want to be. Love to all.

Sonnet

Sitting here in the dark no reasoning

Watching as the world starts to awake

I'm always on the outside looking in

Not knowing which road for sure I will take

Cold wind upon my face sun heating me

Heart filled to the brim so full that it hurts

Passing miles through the ages, tides to sea

Seasons are a coming searching for me

Longing for the arms I am seeking for

No ties that bound me hold me back from you

I am like the calling of the echo

Surrounding finding you want have a clue

So much love to give to keep not for mine

Love to stay with you but not for this time

Memory Lane (sonnet)

Take a walk today down memories lane
what is it that you remember the most
is it the childhood memories of Spain
maybe the first time you went to the coast

into the waves you ran without a care
dancing and tumbling you played carelessly
drifting out to sea you had a big scare
when saved your mother grasped you tightly

or could it be the day you fell in love
all starry eyed remembering that kiss
like a shooting star falling from above
never had experienced such bliss

memories last a lifetime don't fade
reminiscences can not be mislaid
