The Funeral

Emails and cards some heaven sent
Friends and family saying sad goodbyes
Tears of Relatives with wailfull laments
Eulogy and apathy amongst teary eyes
Flowers and a casket in black limousine
Hands as if healing but obviously to late
Speeches of approval and kind words define
Lowering Casket and soil confiscates
Infinite fate of spirit wanting future's sign
Into a small dark dungeon seeming so cruel
A tombstone of Granite promoting Timeline
The earth recycles and you become molecule

You were to young to leave

Why did you go
You left me all alone
My heart is shattered to pieces
I love you so
I raised you like you were my own
How am I supposed to live without you
I can’t think clearly
My brain in a frozen fog
You are missed greatly
You my dear little brother you forever are my best friend
There will never be another
My body aches
My head so heavy
I shed tears for us all day and night
I hope to sleep tonight
We know that will never happen
I watched you go
We were sitting there talking and
Then God came to take you home
My heart beats slow
My head hangs low
I walk through life feeling stabbing pains
I miss and love you so much

About this poem:
You were so weary
God put his arms around you
You gently slipped away
That’s the day you were taking to your new home while holding Gods hands
You didn’t go alone a part of me went too
Never good bye
Always I’ll see you later!

It's just like that

"You gotta make your own way
In this world, said the father
To the son"
The son sneered, "Oh, it's like
That?"
"Yeah, said the father, it's
Just like that."
"You gotta be a father to your
Children, mother said to son."
Laughing, said the son, "Oh, its like
That?"
"Yeah, it's just like that, said
Mom.'
"You gotta walk the straight and
Narrow, said the preacher to the
Son."
"It's like that, scoffed the son?"
"Yeah, smiled the preacher, It's
Just like that."
"I gotta give you life, said
The Judge to the son." You've
Been here three times before,
This time you used a gun."
"Oh, it's like that, cried the son?"
"Yeah, frowned the Judge.."
"It's just like that!"

Dave........

What a lovely old man passing by
At this beach I hold with a sigh
Frail in figure but not in life
His eyes sparkling with mischievious strife
An English veteran from the second world war
He'd rather not talk about that anymore
But dwelled on the fact he had shared a great life
A marriage of sixty years with his Australian wife
A farmer a breeder of King island beef
With natural salt licks from the Tasman sea
Made his cattle better than most
With his charming accent he did boast
The irony to this he says with a grin
Is he became vegetarian it's not a sin
Grumbling good with a thumbs up he'd say
As we spoke about beautiful Horseshoe Bay
With crooked fingers and a wry smile
He reveals the secret to a marriage worthwhile
Respect and love each other every day
Both hands on his cane to balance his sway
It took me while to work out his age
Until he says I am on the wrong page
1925 was the year I was born
90 years young and not forlorn
A charming spirit drifted in with the breeze
Silent his footsteps warming his ease.....

Playing in the snow

Every Christmas I think of you
We were just kids
Playing in the snow
We've made many a snowman
Using a beer can for the snow mans hat
the snowball fights we would have
You would rub my face in the snow
We would laugh and laugh
Falling in the snow
Never wanting to go home
We would make snow angels
You always made a better snow angel
Maybe that's why God took you first
You were his number one angel

I Exists In My Dreams

Some days i think of all the days
we where together and i miss you.
I walk around lonely and in a daze.
I go to bed waiting for the aching
of my heart to stop.
I want a break from my existence
here in reality if only for a moment.
In my dreams my imagination takes hold.
I can go anywhere and be anyone.
In my dreams is my home.
I see my husband holding me in his arms
as we watch television with our kids
looking on.
He reminds me how much he loves me.
He tells me how he wants to be with
me forever.
In his arms i loose myself as i have
done so many times before.
You hold my hand as we walk
along the beach.
You remind me of how much you love me.
You hold me keeping all the pain away.
You pull me into your protective arms
where i do not want to leave.
There are mornings where i do not want
to get up i still want to stay with him.
Stay in his arms in my bed.
Why can i not stay there forever.
Reality is to hard some days to face.

R.I.P

They said three days will be the end
At the very most might be a week
There’s nothing more that could be done
A last kiss at the setting of the sun

They sent him home, there to die
Amongst his friends and family
Forgot to tell him what everyone knew
Before weeks end he’d meet his maker

Instead of down, he’d perked right up
He’d sit in bed and stories telling
One week passed and he was fine
Then the second and even third one

How we treasured those days and nights
As we sat around his bed listening
He was a man close to ninety three
And in his life had seen many changes

In the fourth week things slowly changed
You could see Death at bed head standing
At two am on the fourteenth of July
Peacefully he moved up to Heaven

For a man who was born an only child
Your life deeply touched so many
Rest in peace, a well earned rest
There in Heaven with Angels

Mankind's Folly's

There was a strong metallic smell
it came from the bodies scattered
pools of dark blood glistened
murder and mayhem all around
Embedded image from another site

pillage, rioting and rape
had left a village smoking
lying in its own ruins
a manky cur sniffed around

where was it that this came to pass?
try any war zone in any land
look around you then look again
this is what happens time again
Embedded image from another site

for what? so rich men can line
their pockets at others expense
sitting safe far away taking tea
not knowing or even caring
Embedded image from another site

that families all wiped out
in a matter of hours not days
all for a bit of land or gold
how can the human heart survive

that most tender of organs
take in and accept such carnage
yet lay with a loved one making love
tenderly kissing a crying child
Embedded image from another site

what terrible things we do
the atrocities committed
yet most people are kind
reaching out a helping hand

what is to become of us
if we continue this way
when will man be happy?
when all is destroyed?

high noon

The noon train blows its whistle
Arriving the well known jesse james
The two colt gun slinger
With his colt 45 s

He heads to odettes saloon
Stands by the bar
Give me your finest whisky dame he orders odette
Odette strutts over slams the whisky on the bar e please is my request
Macduff the sherriff arrive at the salon

Eying jesse james
He calmly walks in the saloon
The piana plays its one last tune
Calmness beholds the silent crowd smoke belows the air

Macduff flicks his cigarrrrrrr to the floor
He shouts jessee james your a wanted man
Calmly odette shouts don't want trouble my saloon

The can can girls finish there dance jyonnah and her team buxom women and
The crowd dive to the corners the saloon
Watching the erie silence the gun slingers duel

The clock tick slowly the silence in the bar
Its high noon time, jessee two gun and macduff draw thiers guns the smoke fills the room ,
The winner stands defiant the losser hits the floor blood and guts spreads the floor

Fells man the under taker rubs his hand with glee his trusty tape measure
He measure appoxitmatly
5 6 half
Jesse james flicks a dollor to the floor bury this fool a new sherrif is wanted

He turns to the door and leggs it
The can can girls get back to their dance the old piana plays its last old tune
Odettes salon life is resumed

The Divine Miss Amphlett

'Twas back in '83 or so
When rock music was my life
A sheila named Chrissie Amphlett
Lit up in tartan strife

A raunchy rock goddess
With a sultry undertone
Her energy was addictive
Never to be alone

She raised the roof you see
And brought the house down
In a mesmerising performance
That engaged a smiling frown

Delightfully wicked
In a seductive sort of way
Her charms were alluring
Her music her play

"I'll make you happy "
" Victoria " to name just a few
The 'Divinyls 'led by Chrissie
A different point of view

Thanks for the memories
Thanks for the times
Thanks for the music
An era of sublime.......
