Husband

Husband died leaving me alive
Sustained by his enduring love for his children
I must be alive
Beautiful are his children to me
And in their beautiful faces I see his beloved eyes
Now in the light of dawn
I feel his peace once more
Down in the depths of my soul I feel him saying with the love you found in me find love in life once more.

Lilac and Rain

On the the outside, you look peaceful
But I see the storms in your eyes
You've got memories of broken hearts
And the sadness of too many goodbyes

On the inside you've a strange world
Peopled by the children of dreams
You've got open arms and lullabies
But in the distance you can still hear the screams

(ch)
And when you put it all together now
The mixture seems quite strange
Hot summer nights, city lights
Lilac and rain

On the outskirts of your small town
You can listen to the stories of fall
They've got misty eyes and purple hearts
And rose colored glasses for all

(ch)
But it's lonely here in winter time
And nothing ever seems to change
Long winter nights, city lights
Lilac and rain

(bridge)
So you live with the hope
That you'll someday meet a stranger
Who will take you like you've never been before

Darling, don't you know
That you're never out of danger
No matter who comes knocking at your door

So if I add to your discomfort
You know I can always go
I'll just disappear back to somewhere else
Where I can walk in the soft autumn snow

(ch)
But if you should feel you need me
You know I'd feel the same
And I could get by, sharing your
Lilac and rain

About this poem:
Yet another stinkin' lost love song. This one about my troubled ex-fiance' in Georgia, who's 3-year old had been murdered by her previous husband, who also happened to be chief of police. Long story short, I held on the best I could, but she eventually took her own life in order to be with her daughter. I never wrote about that one, some things just don't lend themselves to words.

Farewell but not Goodbye

On ethereal wings
It ebbed and flew
And took from me
The love I knew
Arched and swiftly poised
To asunder
No caveat or counsel
Nor reflection left to wonder

You faded away into the night
Without fear and without fight
Pain was gone replaced with such peace
From the struggles of life you found a release
To walk again a life anew
To loving arms that waited for you

You went to a place I cannot follow
My broken heart distraught and hollow
I held your love in the palm of my hand
And watched it vanish, likes prints in sand
But life’s a valley
Between high and low
Reverberating phantoms
Where we fear to go

Love endures the corrosion of phase
You brightened and enlightened my waking days
Your journey is over, now time to sleep
Until we reunite, our memories I’ll keep
Come for me when my day is done
As you were for me, when my life begun

The Vanishing

Like leaves on trees, we dance and sway,
In winds of time, we have our day.
Born to grow, to multiply,
But in the end, we all must die.

As leaves fall softly to the ground,
We too depart, no longer bound.
Leaving behind a trail of pain,
A whisper of hope, a silent refrain.

Others will follow the path we tread,
A carpet of memories, the living thread.
Beneath their feet, our legacy lies,
For in life's fleeting moments, everything flies.

See the Sea

lost in the immeasurable sea
enclosed under sunken cofferdams
tossed endlessly we listed to and fro
prisoner passengers in fleets of
slave ships on odyssey journeys

the cargo of life drained out slowly
in swarms of unseaworthy vessels
as the tempestuous rains stormed
carrying us away to unknown shores
we cried out for freedom as the words
fell silently upon windblown sands
we still waited patiently for a parting
to begin again on horizons more calm

alas, we were awash in shameful tragedy
while we slowly gasped for purifying air
and penetrating clarity only seeing
white capped smoke spraying ashen pyre

suddenly under the calm night sky washed in moonlight
the distant beacon casting illuminating shadows revealed
a hidden gateway moored just beyond comber waves
portals opened awakening a witnessing to the deep
exposing all the crevasses of enduring love then
freedom was spilled into the tidal flow of memories
and we began to open our hearts and eyes to
see the sea

the fall from grace

Cartoon characters one and all
Some come to sneer some have a ball
Most stay a while some never leave
The few left here seldom grieve

They gain in power
Their egos swell
They preach their truth
Of heaven and hell

Then madness takes them by the hand
Whispers giggles offers plans
To raise themselves above the mods
Make themselves demi gods

The fall is swift
The end comes fast
Your not a god
ALL HAIL THE MODS

No More..........

No more will you have to sit at home alone
Waiting intently for attention that's been largely unknown
No more will you have to suffer in the heat
Searching for the cool was always such a feat
No more will you have to bump into things around
Your vision impaired left an awful sound
No more will you have to join the chorus at night
The difference in your tones raised awareness of your fright
No more will you have too scamper from the noise
The fireworks above did nothing for your poise
No more will you have to be chained when visitors came
Your size and boisterous nature did ponder on their sane
No more will you suffer no more at all
Your time has come to leave this world 'Tis better in the fall
And although I've failed along the way to be the best that I can
My memory of you is always in the plan
You helped me through the hardest years
With a lick and wag of tail
Been there right by my side
When no wind left in my sail
You let me know no matter what
That you were alway there
Regardless of your disposition
You always had love to share ..............

no title

dreams hold the mass of a feather
as they nestle in wing together
made from days into seasons long
by earth which writes this song
but only the sun can truly fly
down into sea left the burning sky

About this poem:
Haven't felt like writing since that girl got killed, such a horrible tragedy in are community,is that one of the horrible powers of tragedy? The way it makes us look at are own lives as if by comparison next to the question. What if? What if that was us,or me,or somebody I loved?

Remembering you

I knew the day I met you
Your time with me was forever,
Me without you? Never!

I remember times at the lake
we laughed we argued and loved.
We had something no one could take.
To their demise many tried.
But it always remained, you and I

I think of you always I'll
Never forget, remember me.
Cause as long as there is a thought
Of you and me
Ther will never be a he and I or you and she.

Sometimes I forget

Sometimes I forget the hours, all the years between us
I forget the lost days that have all passed us by
I have no memory of no longer chances and empty spaces
For a while is forgotten the passing of our time.
Sometimes I forget, and you are here beside me
I turn to tell you of all my hopes and fears
There is confusion, for a moment, then comes floods of memory
and I am engulfed by an avalanche of grief and tears
