Dancing in the Graveyard

Miss Ellie told this tale to me,
Which I now relate to you.
She was a caregiver, you see,
To a vet from World War two.

Seems he had been a flying ace,
O'er the North Atlantic Sea.
But now a sickbed was his place,
At the age of eighty-three.

To walk again was all he craved,
So she did for him her best.
His freedom of motion she saved,
Miss Ellie had passed the test.

His wife was quite a piece of work,
To resent was all she knew.
This woman really was a jerk!
Ellie loathed her through and through.

And then one night Ellie came to sit,
With him while his wife went out.
She saw his pain was quite a bit,
Which she then asked him about.

Obstructed bowel he'd had for days,
Which the wife chose to ignore.
Was toxic in the final phase,
Swiftly to and through death's door.

She wailed as that man was interred,
While the wife sat grimly smug.
So Ellie screamed in rage at her,
As the old man's grave was dug.

For six more years the wife lived on,
And then her day fin'lly came.
Good or bad, we're all death's pawn,
Cause we all end up the same.

So this past Memorial Day,
Ellie was so bold and brave.
Took off her shoes and danced away,
Upon that old bitches grave.

Dad

I often think of you my Dad
I cried a lot when I've been sad
Why did you go I often pray
It was his time I hear them say

When we were young
We had such fun
Playing with you in the noonday sun

With nexts doors kids
And whatsisnames
We played our games again and again

So next time when I feel so sad
I'll think of all the fun I had
With you my dear sweet old Dad

FRIEND

Say friend, don't I know you ?
You've been, around here before.
But now, come to think of it
I can't place, just who you are.

But you sure seem so familar,
Say now, don't you know me ?
Yeah, friend I'm sure I know you,
So, tell me who could you be ?

Or, maybe you just remind me,
of this old pal of mine.
Someone, I have needed,
to have a talk with for sometime.

But he never really wants to hear,
what I've got to say.
So, he just tries to ignore me,
hoping, I'll soon go away.

And friend, I must tell you,
You're not looking so well.
Not, to put you down none,
But you're looking like hell.

See how your hands keep shaking,
while you're holding that glass.
Friend, you sure could use a shave,
Say when have you eaten last ?

Hey friend ! Can't you hear that bartender ?
Shouting it's closing time !
I'd like to hail us a cab,
But, you've spent our last dime.

You keep sitting here, just drinking.
Don't you care, about nothing else ?
Please friend won't you look at me... I'm talking.
Or can't you bear, to even... take a look at yourself ?

About this poem:
This poem/song just came together, after seeing a drunk, having a conversation with himself in a bar-room mirror. It truly made me sad, at the time. aware3

An Irish Heart

The kettle whistled on the stove as she tottered about the kitchen; something always on her mind, yet never shed on to the minds of others. 'An Irish heart' - so true and loyal, she bore her burden well.

Worry - I believe that was always her main ailment, as a result of her unconditional love for her family an her constant desire for all to be well. Even a small row between siblings over 'spilt milk' would upset her - her caring religous nature shone through her actions. I always respected her powerful faith that things would always mend themselves and that any imbalance of good and evil would always rectify itself.

Her never-ending belief in the power of good in society, and in God, is what I believe sustained her seventy-eight years of life. A life which I am truly thankful for...as it is the backbone of my own.

A quiet woman, who never once seeked recognition for the extent of the kindness and love that she shared; never once acknowledged for her unenviable role in sustaining the peace in her household.

My Granny, a modest woman, with 'An Irish heart', so true and loyal...I love her still. x

About this poem:
I guess this isn't really a poem, but my Granny died some time ago and it was a tough time for me, as although I now don't have relationship with my parents I loved her very very much. It kind of helped me to write things down; it still does.

Remember Me

You cannot see me,
As I'm a shadow of your past,
My life ending was meant to be,
Nothing ever lasts.
I've been with you since the day I died,
Making sure no harm comes your way,
I've always been right by your side,
At night, beside you I lay.
Until we can be together again,
My spirit lives on in your heart,
And when God's angels call your name,
No longer shall we be apart.

Adrift for not, a thousand years

Somewhere in this life..............
........................ is what's called
the sea of souls.................................

.................. drifting.....

...in a endless effort..................
............to find salvation within. . .

it can be a plague
from generation to generation. . .
yielding to any hope
derived from
a mindstate of despair. . .
to be born
with an unadulterated peace. . .
it becomes an affliction
to grasp the real. . .

the real's a virtual trip
to find the way
of filling the void in one's soul. . .
until such time
the soul
shall be adrift
for not a thousand years.

Behold young friends..

I didn't write this...my best friend and I stumbled upon this on accident in a cemetary on a headstone when we were young....it has stuck with us ever since. We also have seen it in other places, after that experience.

Behold young friends as you pass by....
As you were once, as once was I...
As I am now so you shall be...
Prepare for death and follow me....

Squirrel's Song

Why do you lie there, fur, blood, and bones?
I guess you didn't run fast enough home.
Thought that you could out-run a Jetta.
Thought you could cheat death; but, death would let ya.

So, sad is the forest that knew your name,
sad are your squirrel babies that will never see you again;
but, let them know you did not die in vane.
No, you died in the break-down lane.

Soon will come a man, with a scoop and a box,
and scrape your squirrel carcass off the hot, black rock,
and pull down the eye lids on your little squirrel face,
and lay you to rest in a better place.

Now I know why you lie there, flattened on your back,
with your smile in the shape of a tire track.
So, I say a prayer for the squirrel that I mourn,
that heaven is filled with a bunch of 8-corns.

You said.

You said you were my lover,

You said you were my friend,

you said we'd be togeather,

Until the very end,

You said you loved me deeply,

You said I was your heart,

You said you'd never leave me,

you said we'd never part,

You said I was your soulmate,

You said you'd never lie,

You said you'd live forever,

you said you'd never die,

You said I was your future,

You said I was your past,

You said our love would grow,

You said our love would last,

I didnt see it coming,

It took my breath away,

You left me all alone,

I wanted you to stay,

My life just feels so empty,

I've lost half of my heart,

One day we'll be togeather,

And we will never part.
