Jesus and the Old Man

I am very old now and with much difficulty
I try to climp these hills through the press
of this mulitude
So many people clamering to see this man that
I fear I will never reach him
From every quarter in Jerusalem I hear shouts..
Some shout crucify, others are shouting praises..
I don't understand what's going on..
Why have the Romans taken him?
He was such a good man and I know what he did for
me..
A younger man held me by my arm and helped me
up the hillside..
'The days are violent, he said. It seems the God's
have come down to us.'
With trembling voice of age I pulled the young man
close and feebly whispered to his ear, 'I must see
him.'
'With this mob he said, you have little chance to
get close enough to him, and the Roman guards will
trample you if you try to get close.'
Still I pressed on into the way of the oncoming crowd.
It seemed the events of the times were forcing tears
from the debths of my soul yet I had not summoned them.
A rock on the outskirts of the city was elevated enough
above the crowds heads that if I could get upon it I
might catch a glimspe of him.
The guards kept hitting him as he kept falling in the
streets and my soul was crushed with sorrow.
He would never see me now..how could he so beated and weak
He would never hear my words of thanks and how could I
ever let him know?
Who was this man this he could make me see?
I leaned foward on the rock and strained to speak out
his name as they dragged him past me...but I could not
I have to tell him..
He must know how I love him..
My tears were flooding down my face when suddenly this
beaten and broken man looked in my direction..
He paused and gasped for his breath and though the torment
of hell racked his face he spoke words looking right at me
but I couldn't hear him..
When he passed I summoned the young man who had helped me
onto the rock and asked if he had heard Jesus' words..
The young man said,'Yes I did..'
'Jesus had said,See I make all things new again.'

Sleepless Nights

Embedded image from another site

Another sleepless night

Is burning my tired eyes

And it begins to seem

That I'm inbetween awake and a dream

My head is sinking down

Lord will you please pull me out

Or in my own wake I will drown

I follow every word You say, every night I pray

And we talk everyday,

But why am I still so afraid

Im down on my knees

But sometimes your not easy to please

How much loger must my wounds bleed?

I once walked away

When things didnt go my way

But its Your will now I see

It is You who lives in me

No matter how long I must wait

Mo matter how much my heart breaks

I will trust in Your faith

Time

Time truly enchanting
Is it destiny that holds the key
Fate perhaps set in stone
Or perhaps created in every moment
Thoughts among us all
Do they make a difference at all
Infinity is an impossible task
Intrigued in an attempt to grasp
Unequaled in its mystery
Does the universe hold the key
Wonder circulates amongst inquisitive minds
What is it to be human kind
Perception of reality
Is it different for you and me
Are we tied by blood and bone
Or will our spirit continue to roam
Is there still conscious reality
Once laid to rest for eternity

light

my shining knight
in the armor of light
guardian of the Heaven's
sings in the chant
of a thousand angels

playing enchantingly
sweet soft music
in the tune of peace
goodwill to all mankind

in dark we see suffering
light of our feelings
in the house of our master
God sends a messenger
darkness draws
on lights shadows

expelling demons
a battle of souls
the sword in life
truth saves
a thousand souls

the Lord created
every living being
struck down the dark
shining his light
upon us
bringing us
life

The Return of Our Saviour

As I stand upon the edges of time...
I'm reminded of memories sweet in my mind...
I've hearkened unto thy words of the past...
Sweet lyrics of scripture, remind me at last....

The day draws nigh, the hour is near...
Our Glorious Saviour soon will be here...
As fast as light travels, it just can't exceed...
The infinite speed at which God does proceed...

Your preordained destiny from the moment of birth...
Return now Dear Lord! ...Please wash clean this earth!
The tears of thy brethren have risen as mist...
And have fallen as rain...ingrained with such pain...

There are some that believe that it can never be done...
To surpass the speed of the light from the sun...
But wo' unto those, You've made it quite clear...
The tears of God's children will soon disappear...

Ebola

Embedded image from another site

Is the earth
trying to rid itself
of an infection
of human parasites?

The insides of the host
turning to jelly
rebuking black junk
the dissolved organs...

Lord God
have mercy
upon mankind
deliver and save us

from the dreadful
Ebola Virus...

XMAS IS SUCH A JOY

TO EVERY YOUNG GIRL AND BOY; NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE; ALL OF US COME TOGETHER TO SHARE THE BIRTH OF THE LORD! TO THINK THAT ALL OF OUR SINS THAT WE COULD EVER COMMIT; ARE FORGIVEN BECAUSE OF HIS DEATH; WE ARE CONSTANTLY AMAZED AND HE IS ENDLESSLY PRAISED! THE MOST HIGH LOVES US SO MUCH, AND TO SUCCUMB TO SUCH PAIN, IS BEYOND A MORTALS TOUCH! THANK YOU LORD FOR THE GIFT OF LIFE, WHICH YOU HAVE BESTOWED UPON US; AND THAT IS WHY; XMAS IS SUCH A JOY!

IMAGINE - FINAL PART

Embedded image from another site

Imagine the world without the Candle Christ
The candle symbolizing Jesus – his love and sacrifice
The little King in a manger came to save all of those
His children from the beginning of time he had chose

Imagine the world without that Christ candle
It would be like a lantern without its handle
He brought the lights of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love
Which are all gifts from our Heavenly Father above

But the greatest gift even more then all these
Is the promised gift of eternal life if we but believe
For in that sacrifice He took all our sins away
If we ask for forgiveness – our debt is already paid

So this Christmas as you celebrate the birth
Of that baby born 2,000 years ago on this earth
The lights of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love shine bright
And the love of God and his Spirit guide our life

IMAGINE - Part 3 - Candle Joy

Embedded image from another site
IMAGINE – Part 3

Imagine the world without the Candle Joy
The laugh of a child playing with a toy
New parents celebrating a new born birth
Celebrating holidays with sounds of mirth

Without Joy the whole world would be sad
Going around with nothing at all to feel glad
Every day would be like a day of mourning
Nothing to look forward to each morning

What a depressing place it would be
With no happiness in sight to see
Weeping, crying long faces all the time
Of Joy and gladness there would be no sign

On Christmas Day the Candle Joy came
In the form of a baby and Jesus was His name
He gave us the ability to see Joy in all things
Including death as our Spirit then to Heaven wings

DEALING WITH A LOSS

How did you deal with your grief and fear
When you lost someone so close and dear
I’ve been asked this question time and again
There is no easy way to deal with that pain

You put one foot in front of the other is what I say
Trying to get through each minute, hour and day
Breaking down frequently does occur
As you face the future with your fear

Fear of never seeing that face maybe forever
Grief is not a timed schedule endeavor
Some struggle with it for years and years
While others go on after a brief time of tears

There is no way that one can prepare
Even with a lot of faith and prayer
Your life changes and will never be the same
A new normal will develop through all the pain

About this poem:
Someone whose mother is in her 90's keeps asking me how I dealt with the death of my mother. You don't - you just go on the best you can. August 5th will be the 9th Anniversary of my mother's death.

You can grief also at a lost love or other losses in your life as well.

I get comfort through writing my poems as well as my faith and - of course my CS poet friends!
