God’s Palette

The Grace of God is a wonderful art;
He painted His plans and knew from the start.
That everyone needs a person to love,
And the sketch is drawn for each from above.

The Artist as He sketches on high,
As a boy and a girl let out their first cry.
And though they are small and can’t understand,
They’re drawn together by unseen hands.

Living and Learning gives each other their own style,
And Heavenly hands brush them through each trial.
They work through their perspectives on life,
Bringing them closer to husband and wife.

Whispers of love they now share together,
And in a church they promise forever.
For God created the two to be one,
And, For now, the Artist’s design is done.

How The World Was Created (or Gundahwandi)

Come with me to days gone past
Before the world was formed
I will tell you how it came about
The land and all the creatures

The sky was dark, no sun or stars
And nothing there below it
From out of nowhere came the snake
Twas Gundahwandi, Life Giver

From her mouth the stars spewed forth
Lighting up the heavens
From her belly she laid the eggs
It was the sun and the planets

Back and forth, round she slithered
All around she wove her magic
Plants and animals all came into being
And man her greatest creation

The deed was done, round she looked
All she saw pleased her
Was time for rest, her job was done
The rest was left for mankind

All By Grace

You who condemn us and sentence us to death
Do you even know us or our soul's intent
No longer do we live under law of Moses
But by God's Grace all has been forgiven
Not just forgiven but we've been justified
So lift your head out of sin, doom and gloom
To twirl and dance with the joy of Grace
And into the presence of the Father we come

THE VALUE OF A SOUL

Who can really calculate the value of a soul?
Who can truly estimate their weight as precious gold?
When people try to add it up, they can’t begin to start
for they judge by mere appearance, but God looks within the heart
We say this one’s intelligent, we say that one’s too thin
Too fat, too small, too young, too tall, but God says, “look within”.
Each soul is unique and different; fearfully and wonderfully made.
Their cost far above worldly price, for our God’s own life was paid.
So next time when you see out there, the lame man on the street,
His price was worth the highest cost of the nails in Jesus’ feet.
..and the one you might see drinking, some poor man with money spent,
yet Jesus’ life was given so this sinner can repent.
The lives out there who are hurting, sometimes we turn a deaf ear,
yet when Jesus sees their crying, He wipes away their tear.
We need to be more like Him. We should not hold a grudge.
For if you start to judge them, you’ll find God to be your judge.
So let the love of Jesus shine, let His mercy be your goal,
for it’s God’s will that none should perish-
That’s His value for each soul!!!

About this poem:
this is a christian poem- talking about each person's value in the sight of God- which is usually far above what people might think of each other based on what they see.

A Message For Peace

Peace that dimly shines
Arrives like morning light
On cloudy days
Hope for all refines
Watchful hearts to sight
Its parting rays
Love for life confines
Our enemies not fight
A hateful craze
Charity combines
Grace an undivided right
With peaceful ways

Touch not this heart

Touch not this heart
with a judgement I
cannot handle
Send me not into
outer darkness
Let my soul never
see the sadest night
of life
Only let me know the
glory of your
salvation
In this truth shall
I rest~

crucify me do

I have done my share of falling down
i have battled through the rough
i found the strength inside me
for i believed in the path i took.

I have felt the kiss of betrayal
i have turned the other cheek
only to have the other side kissed
with lies and deceit.

I have layed bare and naked
garmets removed against will
but still i stood with head held up
i have no shame in mans sin.

I have worn the crown of mockery
being whipped by some for who i am
watched whilst others defied me
oh the shame of cowardly man.

As i sit here upon my mountain
do to me now your very worst
and forgive for i do know what i do
when i lift my eyes and you i curse.

Still, i lay myself in your mercy
with outstretched arms as if but instead i cry
be it as angel or as person
let thy will be done..let me fly.

Spiritual but not Religious

Spiritual but not religious
what does it really mean
This claim is quite prevalent
on today's scene

Is it just a new age fad
or is it contradictory
If in fact it is the latter
then what is the discrepancy

Religion has divided a person
into body, mind and spirit
It claims it seeks the spirit's welfare
and is sincere about it

If religion really deals with the spirit
then why is there such a fuss
that many still continue to claim
they are spiritual but not religious

About this poem:
Many persons today claim to be spiritual but not religious, even at CS.
I am curious to know the views of CS members on this topic and to share them with others.
What do you think? Please comment especially if you are such a person!

Enlightenment

He could no longer distinguish
the different voices -
the merry voice from the weeping voice
the childish voice from the manly voice
They all belonged to each other
the lament of those who yearn
the laughter of the wise
the cry of indignation and groan of the dying
They were all interwoven and interlocked
entwined in a thousand ways
And all the voices
all the goals
all the yearnings
all the sorrows
all the pleasures
all the good and evil
all of them together was the world
All of them together was
the stream of events
the music of life
When he did not listen to the sorrow or laughter
When he did not bind his soul
to any one particular voice
and absorb it in his self
but heard them all
the whole
the unity
then the great song of a thousand voices
consisted of one word
OM - perfection

From that hour
Siddharta ceased to fight against his destiny
There shone in his face
the serenity of knowledge
of one who is no longer confronted
with the conflict of desires
who has found salvation
who is in harmony
with the stream of events
with the stream of life
full of sympathy and compassion
surrendering himself to the stream
belonging to the UNITY of all things

About this poem:
This is an extract from the book, "Siddharta" by Herman Hesse.
It focuses on "Enlightenment" in Buddhism
and is one of my favourite pieces of writing.
I have attempted to put it into poetic form to share with others
