SINGING AND FLYING FREE

Embedded image from another site

My heart is filled with sorrow today
For a winged one of God’s creatures flew away
Winging up to Heaven I pray
To bask in Heaven’s sun rays

I found her earthly shell sadly to say
Laying behind my garbage can today
I grieved for this poor little stray
She crawled there for warmth I’m afraid

She lay so quiet and peaceful I can say
I said a little prayer as I looked where she lay
I know she is now warm and flying in play
Singing because she is happy and free - no longer afraid

About this poem:
True story yesterday. That bad Winter Storm Harper (I think that was the name) we just got - went out to clean off my porch (roof over) and shovel and found this female finch laying behind my garbage can cuddled right next to the side of the house. I felt so bad - if I had known she was in trouble, I would have tried to help her. It reminded me of the hymn "His Eye is on the Sparrow".

Planting my roots

Emerging from the shadowy depths of my enclosure
my cage
wearing nothing but my skin
drifting into the thicket

feeling the cold white velvety blanket dissolving to moisture beneath my steps
I find a patch of earth
soft grasses green
soil black as pitch, rich in vital minerals

with one thrust of my foot
I sending it plunging deeply within
one following the other
stretching out my toes….hardening….reaching…digging…. growing
anchoring me
my legs and body stiffen

brown skin darkening, thickens, hardening
raising my head to smile at father sky above
arms outstretched, reaching out…..to embrace
connecting to earth and sky

I can move nothing, as the hardening change of my skin
moves up through my torso and limbs
feet and toes growing to roots, deep down in the earth
clutching the mother’s breast…clinging

arms and fingers to branches caressing father sky
breathing a breath I’ve never before breathed
no longer through my once movable mouth and nose
now solid, clothed in a new hardened skin

bark, solid, dark, and strong
my breath moves from within my core, and radiates up and out
haaaaaaaa
my arms swaying to the whistling wind blowing through my branches

as I sigh and moan, a tune of my own
of thanks and wonder

When You Hear It Cling

There's an echo through the valley
A hammer is pounding on a nail
A few stop to listen as the echo has a story to tell

The echo has the sound of a holy ring
Like that of a church bell when you hear it cling
There's an echo through the valley do you know he's a king

There's an echo through the ages
Like that of a church bell when you hear it cling
And don't ever let go do you know he's a king

The Invitation

You have been invited to another day of life
And the invitation fills your heart with delight
The morning sun glistens through the leaves on the trees

And a gentle breeze seems to caress your face
Being aware of this time and place
You have been invited to another day of grace

The birds sing and the meadow green
Among your surroundings summer flowers come into view
An invitation to another day of knowing God loves you

Your Presence Is The Treasure

Your Presence
Is The Treasure
That Dwells
Inside Of Me

Well Meaning Friends
May Lead Astray
If You Take Your Eyes
Off Me

So Keep Your Focus
And Read My Words
And Stay Attuned
On Me

THE SHELF

Placed away on a shelf out of sight
In the darkness – not a speck of light
Only taken out once or twice a year
Hanging around to always be near

The years go by one by one the same
Sitting there hid as though in shame
Only taken out in the dark of night
To be still hidden even in full sight

As time passes by waiting there
Worn – ragged – with lots of tears
No longer waiting but resigned despair
Knowing eventually the time will be near

Again the time comes to bring out to see
But behold - no longer there – now free
Gone forever – not sitting there
Reaching out – but meeting nothing but air.

True Christians

All of us, would love to preach and preach
All of us, we call ourselves Christians
Most of us, would go to church frequently
But, do we live up to what God wants us to do?

Do we speak the words of kindness to a hurting soul?
Do we find the lost, and make them welcome?
Do we care if there is sorrow or grief?
Do we live upto what God wants us to do?

Or can you remember the day, you laughed at someone?
Or can you remember the day, you ignored your brother/sister?
Or can you remember, the day, you never bothered to smile?
So, do we live upto what God wants us to do?

MARTIN VAN BUREN HIGH

NEVER WANTED TO SAY GOODBYE .WHENEVER I THINK OF YOU I CRY . YOU LOOK SO MAJESTIC STANDING HIGH ON YOUR CORNER OF THE WORLD.YEARS MAY COME AND YEARS MAY GO BUT I WISH MY TIME WITH YOU HAD GONE SLOW. WHEN I ENTERED YOUR HALLS, I WAS A KID.AND WHEN I LEFT YOUR WALLS , THEY SHIPPED ME OFF TO A NONSENSE WAR

OH MARTIN VAN BUREN, MAY YOU STAND BRIGHT AND TALL,AND FOREVER MAY YOU PRODUCE MEN AND WOMEN WHO WILL BECOME SOMETHING ,THEN YOU CAN SAY: I"M PROUD THAT YOU ARE ALUMNI OF MY SCHOOL.

Noah's Ark

Noah's Ark
Built to shelter eight people
Noah, his wife, Noah's three sons and their wives
Also built to shelter a male and a female
Of every land dwelling animal on earth
Dolphins, sharks, and puffer fish didn't need the ark
The ark was 750 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet tall
It was made of cypress wood and sealed with pitch
God wanted to wipe the wicked people from the face of the earth
The flood waters came from the sky and the earth
They covered all the mountains
The water was 20 feet above the highest mountain
From the beginning of the flood to dry land took about a year
40 days and 40 nights of rain
150 days of a flooded landless earth
The rest of time for the flood waters to dry up
Noah was 601 when he emerged from the ark
Noah was 950 when he died
God placed a rainbow in the sky as a covenant
That he would never destroy all of mankind again

TRIPPER the TRIPPING BIRD

TRIPPER the TRIPPING BIRD

The tripping bird trips a trip of dead flight
flying dead pictures by
says do this do that now or I might
never treat you right

travelling the timeline of vicious circling
spiralling head bangs of useless tales
here comes a feather full of weight
falling from the heart of a scorned head jailed

"I want what's happening" this caged bird screams
whilst looking through the open door
all turned salty like a poisoned damp tongue spits
sitting non perched stuck to her self centred mirroring floor

She preens her own story
like a victim in her bones
with her feathered mind
where she focuses her tones

all calmness plays a balled of
something she can't find
why the hell she does this
when she could just unwind

the keeper of the cage at hand
distorts and feeds her well
never sharing his heart club band
just a taste and smell

all is good 'til new arrives
flluttered  wave lengths float
hidden pulling worn Tripper's way
no rights to have she gloats

bye bye Tripper ...
you locked you in your cage
a victim card a plea teased
all due to your own rage

see the  color of your wings
wishful thinking violet
you may as well be open now
get off self serving try it

my how we can trap ourselves
in what we know's not ours
if it wasn't there to give and take
why lock down devours

never mind another's mind
if minding loses face
why not fly outside that door
and leave others to their fate

Tripper tripping her own weight
own traits own skanky baits
heavily creating her own chase
to trap another's grace

trip on Tripper
don't forget that cage
is yours

About this poem:
my how we women can cage ourselves with programmed ways, self savatage, when someone comes into our life. It's up to us to realise we need to let ourselves out of the cage in our minds .. Xx
